Chapter 40

“Daddy!” A loud scream of a little boy wearing a blue 2-piece plaid top & woven short set jolted Yunho from his discussion with Jiyeon.

He grinned at the two important people in his life standing at the doorway. He got up from his chair to catch his son who was running into his embrace, “Hello Chun.” He threw him up into the air making Chunghee screamed in delight.

Meanwhile, Jiyeon stared at them, narrowing her eyes. She rolled her eyes to meet Yuri standing there happily on the doorway, ‘What is she doing here?’ Her mind asked in puzzlement. However, avoiding Yunho’s gaze, she forced a smile onto her face.

“Hello Yul.” Yunho kissed her cheek while holding Chunghee in his arms, “Thanks for coming.”

Yuri smiled gracefully. She followed him to the sofa. She looked around & felt comfortable in his office room. This was her first time stepping into Yunho’s office room. Her eyes spotted Jiyeon sitting on the chair in front of Yunho’s desk, “Hello Jiyeon.” She said, trying hard to keep up her smile.

“Hello Yuri. How are you? I heard you came back to Korea a few weeks ago.”

“Oh, I’m fine. Thank you.”

Silence was accompanying them for a few moment. Yunho cleared his throat & said casually, “Yeonnie, please show Yuri around & to our clients files. As I told you before, maybe we can proceed on transferring my shares under her name if she agrees to take over my position.” He stopped & then leant towards Yuri, “You will agree, won’t you, Yul?” He whispered.

Yuri shrugged her shoulders, giving him a teasing smile.

He groaned playfully. Then he moved closer, whispering some words into her ear. Yuri burst out laughing, hearing his jokes.

Jiyeon’s face turned red while watching Yunho’s gesture towards Yuri. He whispered, teased, joked & stole a peck on Yuri’s cheek in front of her eyes. It bugged her. She sighed deeply as she pressed down her emotion. Yunho must have been cracking some jokes again, because Yuri kept laughing. He had never done that with her before. She felt her eyes getting hot suddenly. She could see that Yunho was eyeing Yuri up & down & totally forgot that she was in the same room. She was fuming when Yuri trailed her fingers across his face lovingly & then she heard Yunho calling Yuri sweetheart, ‘How disgusting.’ Jiyeon said to herself. She stared at Yuri fiercely behind her back. If looks could kill then the look Jiyeon was giving would killed Yuri instantly. However, Jiyeon was calm & hid her anger behind her sly smile. To her, losing Yunho to an ordinary girl liked Yuri was the ultimate insult. It had been enough pressure on Jiyeon as she wanted to have him back in her arms. She had been under emotional strain for some months until now. When she heard that Yuri was leaving Yunho to go to Sydney, her heart was screaming in joy. Who would have ever guessed that she would come back again? She had to carry on with her planned. It might be her last chance to separate them.

“Okay. You can go with Yeonnie. I’ll stay here with Chun. Seoyeon can help both of you, too. See you at lunch time, Yul.”

Yuri nodded & followed Jiyeon to her office. She sighed deeply behind Jiyeon’s back. Jiyeon looked radiantly lovely in a black suit.

Jiyeon walked into her office room without waiting for Yuri. She sat down on her chair arrogantly & stared at Yuri! Her eyes narrowed for a second in jealousy when she looked at the engagement ring on Yuri’s finger. She sighed deeply, ‘It should have been me wearing that lovely diamond ring.’ She said to herself.

“You are happy now, aren’t you, Kwon Yuri?”

Yuri frowned, “What do you mean?”

“Of course, you are happy like a mouse having a party without a cat watching it.”

‘What does she mean by that?’ Yuri groaned secretly. However, she didn’t reply back. It’s all because of Yunho. She concluded of this messy conversation between them.

“You are getting Oppa in your arms & he is the most eligible bachelor in Seoul. He is simply adorable, gorgeous & smart. You’re putting yourself in great danger as you’re the envy of every woman in Seoul.”

“Am I?” Yuri asked sarcastically, as she felt Jiyeon wanted to challenge her & hurt her again.

Jiyeon laughed a bit, “Don’t act like an innocent girl in front of me. I know your tricks since long time ago. Beside his charms, you know very well that Oppa has become a millionaire even before he turns fifty.”

Sighing deeply, Yuri stared at Jiyeon, “I don’t care if he is a millionaire or billionaire or a poor man. I’ll be marrying him because I love him.” Yuri said firmly. Her eyes glared at Jiyeon intensely.

Jiyeon laughed again, “It’s really a good joke. Or should I say a brilliant joke?” She stopped & got up from her chair, putting herself on the edge of her office desk, “Love? Is it possible that a victim loves the man who her? You did it on purpose. You drugged Oppa & when he was unconscious, you took him to bed with you. After that, you screamed loudly as a victim to make Oppa feel guilty. Such a lowly tactic.”

Yuri felt her cheeks growing red from the harsh words from Jiyeon but Jiyeon just kept making bad comments about her eyes, skin, attitude & body. As she stood up from her chair, Yuri had to fight back her tears. Her voice was cracking with emotion, “Jiyeon, I don’t like that kind of talk. I’m here to learn about this business, Oppa’s business. Whatever you say, I won’t let you have Oppa back.” She lifted her hand up, showing Jiyeon Yunho’s engagement ring. She stared at her firmly, “This ring is the proof of his love for me & I hope you would knock some sense into yourself & get out of our life forever.”

Smiling sarcastically, Jiyeon added in an arrogant way! “Why should I? You’re angry because I discover your dirty tricks. You trapped him using your son. I admit that you got lucky to get pregnant in the first place. If I know that he’d be a good loving father then I’d agree to bear his child a long time ago when he asked me. I always use protection when were having &.” Her voice trailed off, looking at the pale face of Yuri, “How is your fiance? I’m sure Oppa is better than him in everything. That’s why you chose him without any guilt for betraying your fiance. God. I can’t believe that one good man such as your ex fiance isn’t enough for you. I bet you are a , sweetheart!” She copied Yunho’s voice when he called Yuri sweetheart.

Anger ate her up. Finally, she couldn’t hold in her anger anymore. That was enough. This insult was enough. She got up & warned her, “Shut your dirty mouth up & prepare to pack your things! I swear to kick you out from here! I’ll take over your place as soon as I can run this business by myself!” She snapped at Jiyeon.

Jiyeon stopped laughing & glared at her, “Fine. If you have the courage to challenge me then let Oppa stayed out of our matter. We deal with our own problem, only the two of us excluding Oppa. If he knows about it then I could say that you’re nothing, Kwon Yuri. You have to admit you don’t have the abilities to kick me out of the business by your lowly skills.” She paused & moved closer to her face, “Do you dare to take my challenge?”

“Why not?!” Yuri snapped at Jiyeon, & Yuri just her heels & quickly moved away from her. If she continued to argue back then she couldn’t hold in her emotion any longer.

However, before she opened the doorknob, Jiyeon’s voice sprang to her ear, “If I were you, I would throw away his bed. Only god knows how many girls have slept with him in that bed & of course, you have to make sure that you will satisfy him ually otherwise he will find other mistress outside. He’s really wild in bed.” She giggled as she proudly talked about her life with Yunho.

Yuri turned around & said calmly, hiding her emotion from Jiyeon’s eyes, “Thank you for your advice but since I agree to marry him, I will accept who he is including his past. I don’t care how many girlfriends he has before & I don’t want to know who has ever slept with. All I care about now is he & our son.”

With those parting words, Yuri slammed the door & darted to the ladies room, bursting into tears there, “How could Jiyeon be Oppa’s girlfriend? She’s such a horrible person.” Yuri said to herself. That was a big blow. She was really upset over Jiyeon’s lousy comment & insults. Jiyeon was extremely rude to her. However, the thought of Yunho having a ual relationship with his past girlfriends made her shuddered. She was lying to Jiyeon. She was a big liar. Honestly, she couldn’t accept it if Yunho betrayed her with another women. She had never given herself to any man except him almost three years ago. Even during her engagement with Yoongi, she always refused to give herself to Yoongi. She was a conservative girl, holding her principle tightly. Only a married couple could have .

She wanted to ask Yunho about it since a long time ago but she was too afraid of his answer. What if Jiyeon was telling her the truth? Jiyeon was his ex-girlfriend & she had admitted before that she & Yunho had a great life together. Yuri suddenly felt her body shaking. During more than two years of her relationship with Yunho, he had never talked about to her. They were dating normally without having at the end of the date except passionate kisses. He had never asked about it even once. How could he manage his life if what Jiyeon told her was the truth? Was it possible that he had with his other girlfriend including Jiyeon behind her back?

She felt her body going numb as she couldn’t get those fears out of her mind. She continued to imagine the horrible scenes of Yunho & his ex-girlfriends. Had imagination of Yunho & Jiyeon spending the night in his bed passionately had made her body burn with anguish.

Wiping her tears, she looked at her image in the mirror, “I love him for who he is now. As long as he never betray me with someone else then I would forget his past.” She promised herself.

Her mind thought about Jiyeon again. She wanted to tell Yunho about her bad attitudes, however; she couldn’t do that without any proof. She didn’t want Yunho to think that she was only jealous & made up a bad story about Jiyeon. Yunho & Jiyeon had a good relationship as good friends & business partner; at least it was what she got from his perspective. Moreover, she had taken her challenge to deal with her alone. She had to prove to Jiyeon that she was capable in this business & wasn’t a loser.

After rinsing her face & putting on some light makeup, Yuri went back to Yunho’s room. She saw from the opened door that Chunghee was playing with Seoyeon in the conference room. His laughter could be heard from the other room. She smiled. Her bad mood suddenly changed. Why did she have to think about Jiyeon? All she wanted to think about now was only Yunho & Chunghee & how to make them happy. Before she realized it, strong arms slipped around her waist. She turned her head around quickly.

“Oppa.”

He grinned innocently.

“This is during office time, spoiled brat! What if someone caught us?!” She scolded him, & gave him a mock glare.

“Why? This is my office & this level is only for directors & managers. You’re safe, sweetheart.”

She pushed him playfully, “Sometimes you drive me crazy, Oppa.” Yuri stared at him & pretended to give him a quick glare.

“Okay. Okay. I’ll take my hands off.” He laughed, lifting his hands up, showing her that he surrendered. However, when her senses told her that Jiyeon was behind them. She suddenly embraced Yunho & held him tightly, sticking her body into his. Their eyes met before they ended up in a passionate kiss. He groaned in pleasure, yet confused of what was going on. Of course, he didn’t refuse the passionate kisses from Yuri.

Jiyeon watched the couple with anger, jealousy & hurt. Tears sprang to her eyes. She had been stressed, irritable & her life was disaster without Yunho. How could she lose him to Yuri? Yunho was her life. She couldn’t live without him. Now, he even wanted to leave their business partnership as he wanted Yuri to take over his place. She was worried that she would spend her future all alone & become the poor little famous, rich girl she tried so hard to avoid being. If she couldn’t get Yunho then Yuri couldn’t, too. That was her vow.

“I’m an old-fashioned girl, Oppa.” Yuri said, pouting playfully to force Yunho to agreed with her planned. She did know that he would agree with anything she wanted. She just wanted to , making him give into her again. She was in Yunho’s office room, discussing about the clients for the new project. Jiyeon was going oversea to deal with the new clients.
