Chapter 4

Yunho inhaled a deep breath of the fresh air outside the prison. He looked at his lawyer, Jaehwa, & then reached out his hand to his.

“Thank you.” He whispered sincerely.

Jaehwa shook his head, “Don’t thank me. It wasn’t me who made you a free man again.”

Yunho frowned. He stared at him absently for a moment. His hair was blown back from his pale face by the wind. His eyes needed an answer.

“It’s Kwon Yuri who decided to set you free.”

Yunho shocked. He felt like a dagger stabbed his heart deeply. Yuri. Her face, smile & pain was haunting him in every minute & second he spent his life in jail for the last two weeks. How could she let him go after what he did to her? He groaned inside. He stared at the big tree in front of him blankly without realizing that his lawyer was waiting for him to get into the car.

“Yunho.”

He was brought back to reality & asked dumbly, “Yes?”

“Let’s go. Get into the car.”

He walked towards the passenger seat, opened the door & put his seatbelt on liked a robot.

Jaehwa pulled the disk from the player in his car, “Let’s try something brighter, Yunho. How about TVXQ?” Yunho kept quiet. His mind was still thinking about the nice girl that he had hurtled so badly, ‘I have to see her.’ He said to himself. He made up his mind.

Yunho was walking slowly towards the living room of his luxury house when he heard his mother’s voice. He froze, ‘Mom?’ He asked in puzzlement.

For these last two years, he had been missing her so badly. His mother left the house after a big fight with his father two years ago. He was in the US, pursuing his master degree in business at Capella University when they got a divorce. This fact brought a big shock as he always had been closed to his mother. She was the only one who could understand him, give him support whenever he was desperate, whenever he was at dead-end situation. His powerful father didn’t even have time for him as business had always been his priority in life. Hearing the divorce of his parents, Yunho went back to Seoul to try his best to reunite them together. However, he was too late. His mother had left him without saying goodbye. He was so frustrated when his father refused to tell him where his mother was.

There had been a time, not so long ago, when people would envy the perfect Jung family. Now, they were walking out like strangers. Since that day, Yunho started to fight back with his father. Being as stubborn as his father, Yunho refused to go back to the US to finish his degree. He began to enter the nightlife. In order to make his father angry & frustrated, he spent a lot of money, went to the nightclub every night, started to smoke & became a drinker.

It was last month when one of his friends at the bar introduced him to drugs but he swore in the name of his beloved mother, he would never used it. The first time he used it was when he couldn’t restraint himself from the temptation of that eye-catching girl, Kwon Yuri, who had acted so cold towards him that night. She made his short temper rose, treating him like a loser.

The sound of his mother calling his name brought him back to the present.

“Yunho.” His mother hugged him tightly.

Yunho closed his eyes & hugged her back. His eyes suddenly felt hot. How long had he been missing her?

“What happened to you? How come they put you in jail? The newspaper talk rubbish. I don’t believe that you did what they said in the news.” His mother shot him long sentences when they broke away.

Getting no response from Yunho, Sanghee Jung lifted her eyes to meet his, looking for some answer in those misty eyes.

“Mom, I did horrible things. Even I couldn’t believe myself that I did it. I’ll never forgive myself for that. I’m very ashamed.” He answered sadly. He took in a deep breath before continuing, “That girl is innocent. I...I her.” He whispered the last words into his mother’s ear. His voice was trembling. His hands were shaking in his mother’s hands.

His mother glanced at him, ‘He looked pale, depress & tired.’ She thought. She bit her bottom lips, “Come on, Yunho. Go inside. We’ll talk about it later. You’d better go up to your room, take a shower, change your clothes & we’ll talk during lunch.”

He nodded slowly & walked inside the house. At the corner of the living room, he saw his father looking at him with an expression on his face Yunho himself couldn’t figure out.

“Dad.”

Mr. Jung turned his head to the other direction, refusing to talk to him. Yunho let out a deep sigh & walked slowly to his room with his head down.

After the cold water running down his body, Yunho felt a little bit fresh, ‘I have to see her today.’ He told himself forcefully, ‘But what would I say to her? Hello, I’m Yunho. I’m the one who...who...oh god, please help me.’ He muttered to himself.

He opened his wardrobe, looking at plenty of his shirts, ‘What should I wear? Casual or formal? It might be ridiculous if I wear a shirt with a tie to go see her.’ He laughed bitterly. He pulled out a blue regular short sleeve original mesh polo shirt & a pair of dark indigo traditional fit jeans.

He stared at his reflection in his bedroom mirror. He looked as if he was dressed for a special date with a special woman. His throat closed. In truth, he was dressed for getting his punishment.

His eyes were dark as no light were in there. There were long black lines below his eyes. His unwanted moustache & beard had made his face looked dreadful. His hair needed to be cut, ‘I looked awful.’ He said to himself, ‘I
