Chapter 37

Yuri felt an instant wrench in her heart. She knew it was the toughest decision for Yunho to give Chunghee to her. Chunghee was his life. He would do anything for their son. She stared at him with an emotion mixing up in her heart. The man standing in front of her was really a splendid man with the greatest love in his heart & he did it all for her. He did it because he loved her so much as he told her at her apartment in Sydney.

“No, I won’t.” Yuri answered quickly.

He stared back at her with a questioning look on his face. However, the doctor interrupted their tensed moment, “He’s coming around. Chunghee. Chunghee.” He called the little Jung softly. He tapped his tiny hand, waiting for him to open his eyes.

Yuri & Yunho broke from their stared & immediately looked at their son. She started to cry again, when she saw Chunghee opening his eyes slowly. He was breathing normally now. She couldn’t uttered any words as her breaths was choking . She thanked god endlessly for giving her beloved son back.

Holding his tiny hand, Yunho smiled at his son tenderly, “Hello Chun. Look who’s here. It’s mommy, Chun. Mommy.”

Chunghee didn’t answer, instead he murmured some awkward words that nobody could understand. He looked at the people surrounding him in puzzlement with his sleepy eyes. When he met his mother’s eyes, his eyes lit up. Yuri caressed his cheeks & kissed him, “Mommy is here. Mommy won’t leave you again. I miss you, Chun.” She gave her son the greatest smile while tears flowing down on her cheeks. She knew Chunghee wouldn’t understand what was going on. He was too young to understand but the bond between them was strong. Chunghee gave his mom a weak grin before he fell into a deep sleep again.

Yunho closed his eyes as he couldn’t watch a heart breaking scene between Yuri & their son.

“Chun. Open your eyes, Chun.” Yuri said in panic. She turned her head to the doctor who was checking Chunghee seriously. After waiting for a few seconds in fright, she let out a big sigh of relief as the doctor explained Chunghee’s condition.

“Are you sure that it’s a normal reaction?” Yunho asked seriously.

“Yes. It’s common that waking up from a comatose made him tired. He’s taking a long, deep sleep now, a normal baby sleep. Don’t worry. He’s fine, perfectly fine. Just give him time to sleep.” Dr. Bang said firmly, & then he explained every detail of the normal reactions. They were sighing in relief.

Yuri fell onto the chair tiredly. Her body was weak as she had gone through a long journey in running & crying, using up all of her energy. She almost collapsed if there weren’t strong arms holding her up.

“Are you okay, Yul?” Yunho asked in concern, looking at her pale face.

She nodded & tried to smile at him weakly.

“She needs to rest. Please take Yuri home, Yunho, & you need to rest, too. Both of you need to rest, otherwise, you won’t be able to see Chunghee when he wakes up. We’ll be here to keep an eye on him.” Mr. Jung said suddenly.

Yuri shook her head, saying stubbornly, “I want to be here when Chun wakes up.”

“Yuri, don’t be so stubborn. Mr. Jung is right. You & Yunho need to take a break. As the doctor said, Chunghee will be sleeping in long hours. I’ll call you when he opens his eyes again. Okay?” Yuri’s mother said softly, trying to persuade her daughter.

“But it takes a long time since we live so far away from the hospital. No, mom. I want to be near my son. Let me stay here.” Yuri said persistently, refusing any action to be apart from her beloved son again.

“Why don’t both of you go to your apartment, Yunho? It’s only fifteen minutes from here. Go & take some rest. I’ll call you if Chunghee wakes up &.” Mr. Jung glared at the couple who were still trying to argue with him, “Don’t try to say no. Now, go.”

Yuri looked at Yunho, begging him to say no to his father. Yunho sighed. He understood his father’s good intentions. He took Yuri’s hand & said softly, “Come on, Yul. We’ll come back after taking some rest. You will have more time with Chun later on.”

Yuri let out a big sigh. She couldn’t argue anymore as she felt her body was worn out. She nodded weakly & got up from the chair. When she passed Yunho’s mother, Mrs. Jung said firmly, “I will have a long talk with you, Kwon Yuri.”

Yuri nodded weakly. Yunho looked at his mother with a questioning look & turned his head to look at Yuri who was staring at the floor blankly. He sighed secretly. It must have been another misunderstanding between the two women in his life. He wished they would get along without any hatred between them. However, he didn’t say a word & took Yuri out from the ICU room, heading to his apartment.

Opening his apartment door nervously, Yunho let Yuri inside. He stole a glance at her to see her expression. This was the first time Yuri was stepping her feet into his apartment. All these times, Yuri always refused when he asked her to go to his apartment. He quickly closed the door & put his key on the table. He smiled weakly, “Welcome to my home. It’s terrible, Yul. I can’t seem to tidy up. Sorry.” His face reddened, feeling a little bit embarrassed. He took Chunghee’s toys from the sofa instantly & put Chunghee’s milk bottle on the kitchen table.

Yuri scanned his luxury apartment with teary-eyes. This was the place where the two important men in her life was spending their life together. She admitted the place was a little bit messy even though she believed Yunho hired a housekeeper to clean his penthouse. Chunghee’s toys were scattered all over the place. The atmosphere was a little bit of dimness. It might be because there wasn’t any woman’s touch there. She turned to look around. The interior was superb. He must have hired the best interior designer to design his home. There was a piano at the corner of the living room, near the balcony. She frowned. She had never known that Yunho could play the piano. She knitted her eyebrows, thinking hard whether she wanted to ask him.

“Yul, what would you like to drink? Hot chocolate? or coke? or anything else?”

She looked at him standing at his modern kitchen. He was holding two mugs on his hands. She smiled a bit, ‘He wanted a hot chocolate for himself.’ She thought, as she saw him holding the mugs, “Hot chocolate would be good. Thanks.”

He smiled back at her. He turned his back to open the kitchen cupboard. Yuri still stared at him. He lost weight dramatically. She had never seen Yunho so skinny liked now. Even when he got out from jail two years ago, he was still better than now, ‘Oh god, he had been through the toughest time of his life.’ She muttered, under her breath. She felt her eyes getting hot again. She blinked several times to fight back the tears. She quickly walked towards the balcony to avoid him from seeing her red eyes. She stared at the sky outside the window. How lovely the stars were, blinking & twinkling brightly in the sky. She would have a bright life now with Yunho & Chunghee. She just needed to tell him how much she loves him. She was here to love him back as deep as his love. She smiled as her heart was struggling with her own emotions. Was it really her happiness come true? What if he changed his mind?

Yuri glanced at the piano beside her & caressed it. It looked new like someone had never played on it before. She knitted her eyebr
