Chapter 15

“Yuri. Dinner is re.”

Youngmi stopped with an opened mouth. She glanced at her mother who was standing beside her. She was stunned, too.

Yuri quickly pushed Yunho away & pretended to be busy looking for her black coach madison small phoebe shoulder leather bag. Her face reddened.

Yunho cleared his throat as if embarrassed, trying hard to reduce his emotion. Then he smiled at Mimi & her mother, “Hello, Mrs. Kwon. Hi, Mimi. I...ehm, I.” He said nervously, as he couldn’t find the right words to say. His heart was still beating erratically. He was still engaged with their kisses.

There was silence in the room. They had their own thoughts. Finally, Yuri’s mother broke the heavy atmosphere.

“Yunho, nice to have you here tonight. Why don’t you join us for Christmas eve dinner?”

Yunho looked at Yuri, asking for her consent. Before she could uttered anything, her mother dragged him to the dinner table.

“Have a seat there. Mimi, put one more plate for Yunho.” She said, as if nothing happened before.

Yuri followed her mother to the dining room with her head down, ‘What would they think of me?’ She asked herself in despair. She sighed. Before pulling her chair out, she heard her mother saying, “Yuri, go get your father. We’re starving now.”

Yuri raised her head to look at her mother with pleading eyes. Her mother gave her a stare as if she was questioning her actions with Yunho before.

“Okay.” She replied shortly. She went to her father’s study room in order to start their Christmas dinner.

Yuri kept twisting & turning for the whole night & wetted her pillow with buckets of tears. She had cried her heart out. She recalled the conversation with her mother after Yunho left.

*Flashback*

“Yuri, what do you think you’re doing?” Her mother asked her in a cold tone.

Yuri turned her eyes to look at her mother. Her mother came into her room after Yunho left. Yuri kept quiet as she didn’t know how to answer the question. She played with her fingers nervously.

"I don’t want to interfere with your life but you have to decide whom you’d choose. You can’t play with their feelings. You have to decide, Yuri. Otherwise, all of you will end up miserable.”

Tears were welling up in Yuri’s eyes. She lowered her head, avoiding her mother’s sharp gaze.

Yuri’s mother let out a big deep sigh.

“I hate to see you cry everyday. I don’t want you to regret your decision later on.” She paused, & looked at her daughter lovingly, “I only want you to be happy.” Her mother’s voice was husky. She sighed again.

“What do you think, mom?”

Yuri’s mother stared at her gently. She knew that her daughter was having trouble with those two men. One was her fiance & the other was the father of her child. However, Yuri had to know who was her true love. It was Yuri’s mother’s thought to solve this problem.

“It’s not my decision to make but yours. Honestly, I like Yoongi. He has a good heart & broad-minded to accept you all the way you are, even after the tragedy. There’s only a few great men like him in this world. He loves you deeply & always stays faithful to you. I could see that he understands you very well. You’re engaged to him too, & had agreed to marry him.”

Yuri looked at her mother with teary-eyes, waiting for her next wise words. She sobbed silently.

“As for Yunho.” Yuri’s mother paused, gasping for her breath; “He’s a nice man instead of his past. He had proved to you during these nine months that he isn’t as bad as people think he is. He had changed himself for you, Yuri. As far as I can see, he threw away his pride to be insulted by you all the time. Even my heart hurts looking at his expression every time you hurt his feelings. For a rich, good looking & smart man as he is, he won’t find any difficulties in finding any girls he want but he begged you to marry him & agreed with all of your ridiculous requirements. I don’t understand him.”

Yuri’s mother stopped. She looked at her daughter seriously, “But Yunho is definitely not an ordinary man. He’ll always be in the media attention. Moreover, his family background is significantly different with us. They belonged to a high-class society.” She shook her head several times.

“You always said tha you hated him so much but lately, I found you missing him, crying for him & tonight, both of you were kissing, right? What happened between you & Yunho, Yuri?”

Yuri couldn’t control her sobs anymore. She threw her head into her mother’s embrace. Yuri’s mother sobbed silently, understanding her daughter’s feelings. She let Yuri cried out her emotions. They were hugging each other.

With swollen eyes, Yuri pulled away & stared at her mother tenderly, “Mom, is it possible that a woman can love two men in the same time?”

Her mother was stunned. She let out a deep sigh in despair as she didn’t know how to answer. She looked at Yuri worriedly.

“To tell you the truth, I don’t know, Yuri. I don’t know.” She muttered softly, “Ask your heart who’s your true love. Only true love can bring you happiness eternally. Find your true love & you’ll meet your soulmate.”

Yuri stared at her mother with pleading eyes as she didn’t know the answer.

“You have to make a decision soon. It’s your life. I believe you can get out of this love triangle. You’ve always been my strong girl. Don’t give any false hopes to the both of them.” She said, before she left the room.

*End of Flashback*

Yuri got up from her bed. She took a small box on her study desk, wrapped in beautiful paper. It was her Christmas present from Yunho. He was generous. Her parent & Mimi got presents from him, too. She didn’t buy him a present but to her surprises, Yunho didn’t say anything. It was liked he understood why she crossed his name out from her Christmas list. Even her little sister bought him a present.

She unwrapped the paper carefully as if she didn’t want to break it. She pulled out a tiny box & opened it slowly. She saw a beautiful, glittering miadora diamond accented high-polished sterling silver ring lying there. She took out a little note on the box. She read it, only one long sentence, ‘Since there was you, the world has been more beautiful’. At the bottom of the page, Yunho gave his signature.

Taking the ring slowly from its velvet box, she put it on her fourth finger. She compared it with her classic solitaire white gold engagement ring from Yoongi on her other hand. She stared at both of them. She sighed. She decided Yoongi’s ring would suit her better. It was simple as his love for her. She pulled out Yunho’s ring from her finger & put it back into its box. Along with the note & a bouquet of red roses, she put them into the darkness of her closet. She sighed again, & tried to get some sleep.

It was Tuesday when Yunho came to visit her again. With a grin on his face, he couldn’t stop the excitement to see her again. He couldn’t sleep since Sunday night when they had their first kiss. It was so amazing. Finally, Yuri forgave him & accepted him. He could still imagine her beautiful face blushing prettily in his embrace. Yunho smiled again. His patience was worthy but he had to be careful about his next step as who would know when his stubborn wife would change her mood again. He remembered their big fight cause he came on the wrong day of their agreement & she exploded. Therefore, he restrained himself from seeing her yesterday as he didn’t want her scold him again, for violating their agreement.

Yunho parked his car in front of her hou
