Chapter 16

The dinner had never come into realization. Before their date, Yuri had been rushed to the hospital. It was Thursday morning when she felt great pain in her stomach. Cold sweats covered her body as she tried to ease the pain.

Yunho was in the middle of an important meeting with some foreign businessmen, including Jiyeon when Youngmi called him. His secretary said he couldn’t be disturbed. In fact, Jiyeon was the one who was taking the message when his secretary entered the meeting room quietly. Jiyeon saw the note & then went outside the room as Yunho was concentrating to explain his business planned on the board to his business associates.

“Didn’t I tell you before that we can’t be disturbed?! We have an important meeting! I don’t believe that you’d disturb Mr. Jung with this small matter!” Jiyeon scold Yunho’s secretary outside the meeting room.

“I’m sorry, Miss Park, but this girl said it’s important. She said I have to tell Mr. Jung or he would get angry if I didn’t tell him.”

“What’s the matter?” Jiyeon asked impatiently, ‘She might be Yunho’s secret girlfriend. Finally she got her.’ Jiyeon thought to herself.

“She didn’t tell me. She said only to get Mr. Jung on the phone right away since Mr. Jung didn’t pick up his mobile. Maybe he left it on his office room.”

Jiyeon’s eyes narrowed. Her face darkened. She looked at Yunho’s secretary, “What’s her name?”

“Youngmi. Youngmi Kwon.”

‘So, that’s her name. Youngmi Kwon.” Jiyeon murmured to herself. Jiyeon turned her face to Yunho’s secretary, forcing a beautiful smile, “I’ll handle this. I’ll tell Mr. Jung that Youngmi Kwon called. You do your job as usual, don’t worry about it.”

“Thank you, Miss Park.”

“That’s alright. You did a great job.” Jiyeon left, heading to Yunho’s office room with an evil smile curving on her beautiful face.

“Yuri, are you alright?” Yuri’s father asked worriedly. He came straight from the office when he heard that his daughter was in the hospital.

Yuri didn’t answer his question as she was twisting in great pained. She was having cold sweats all over her body. The torture she had to go through was real & Yunho wasn't even there for her when she needed him the most. He promised to be there for her when the time comes but he just disappeared. He never keep his promise, ‘Damn you, Oppa!’ She cursed him.

“Where’s Yunho?” Yuri heard her father asked to nobody in the room.

“Dad, I called Oppa several times on his mobile but he didn’t pick up. I called his secretary & she said that he has an important meeting & he can’t be disturbed but she said that she’d write a note to let him know & by this time, he should’ve called me back.” Youngmi said softly, almost a whisper as she was afraid her sister would blow her head off again. She didn’t believe herself that Yunho didn’t call her back after five hours since she called him this morning.

Hearing Yunho couldn’t be disturbed from his meeting, Yuri’s emotion exploded. She glared at her sister.

“Who asked you to call him?! I don’t need him! Do you hear me, Mimi?! I don’t need him here! I can handle it by myself! What will he think?! If he doesn’t want to come then let him do that!” She snapped at her sister, yet stopped grumbling as the pain came again. She cursed him again.

“Oh god, when will be end? Call the nurse, Mimi. I want to give birth right now. I can’t wait any longer. I just want this baby out from my stomach right now.”

“But Yuri, they have to wait until your last contraction &...”

“Call the doctor now or I will scream!” Yuri yelled, at her sister.

Yuri’s mother moved closer to her. She held her hand & squeezed it gently, “Yuri, calm down. You have to calm yourself. The time will come.”

“Mom, I can’t stand it anymore. The pain is unbearable. I want to end this agony. It’s his entire fault. I’ll kill him for giving me this torture.”

Taking in a deep breath, Yuri’s mother shook her head secretly. She wanted to utter some words to calm Yuri down but she had already screamed aloud.

It was already afternoon after office hours when Youngmi got a call on her HTC one mobile. She looked at the caller id number. Yunho. She pressed the button & answered quickly, half screaming, “Oppa! Where have you been?!”

“Whoa, don’t yell at me. What is it?” Yunho’s voice was light. He chuckled.

“Yuri is giving birth now! Doctor took her to the delivery room! We’re in the hospital! Why didn’t you call me back sooner?!” Youngmi said, raising her voice.

“What?” Yunho dropped everything & rushed to the hospital.

“Where is she?” Yunho asked in panic, when he entered the eighth floor of the private hospital. Youngmi had been waiting for him in front of the elevator impatiently.

“Oppa, where the hell have you been?! She’s in the delivery room now & you can guess she’s definitely upset. We’ve been here since this morning until she has been taken to the delivery room.” Youngmi mumbled to him, as they were walking to the delivery room.

“What? Why didn’t you tell me in the morning?” Yunho was dreadful.

“I called you several times this morning.”

Yunho’s mind was muddled as he panic. He pulled out his mobile from his pocket & dialed his parents number. He tapped his foot, waiting for somebody to pick up the phone. His heart was beating fast. He inhaled a deep breath of air as he was driving his car like a crazy man on the way to the hospital. Luckily, he didn’t get a speeding ticket from the police.

“Mom? It’s Yunho. Yuri is giving birth now.” He paused, hearing his mother’s voice on the other line, “Pardon? I don’t know. I just got here. We’ll talk later, just come here quickly okay? What?” He paused again, & sighed in frustration.

“I don’t know, mom. I said I just got here. I’ll turn off my phone now. I have to see Yuri. I’m dead. Dead. She will send me to hell for sure for not being with her as I promised her.”

Yunho closed his eyes, listening to his mother finish her words.

“Yes. Yes. Bye mom. See you & dad here.” He pushed the end button & put his mobile back into his pocket, “How come she is giving birth today? It’s supposed to be next week. Oh, god. I’m dead.” He muttered again, without his consent.

“Why didn’t you call earlier?” Youngmi asked him again. She stared at him. Her eyes were a little bit narrowed, waiting for an honest answer.
