Chapter 31

July had come. It was time for Yunho to take Chunghee away from his mother’s house. He kept his promise & took Chunghee with him. When night came, Yunho took Chunghee with him while Yuri was staring blankly at his audi as it disappeared from her sight with Chunghee inside. This was the first time she didn’t cuddle him until he slept at night. This was the first night she wouldn't whisper goodnight into her son's ear before she was going to sleep. Her eyes were shimmering with tears. Could she bear to have separate lives with Chunghee in the future? Her heart twisted in pain again. She made a decision & thought that was the best one. She would leave him & his father someday so better they had a separate lives sooner. When the time came, it wouldn’t be so difficult to say goodbye to both of them. Would it be like that? She shook her head weakly as she wasn’t sure either.

However, early in the morning, Yunho came again, with their son. His face was terrible, his hairs were messy & his eyes were swollen as if he didn’t sleep for a month. Before she could asked him, he had said to her with a weak grin, “I’m sorry, Yul. He was crying all night & I couldn’t sleep even for a minute. He misses you. Could I leave him here while I worked? I promise to take him back after work.”

Yuri nodded without arguing. She missed him, too. She couldn’t sleep either, thinking of how Yunho would handle their son.

“Thank you. I’ll be back tonight.” With those parting words, he went off to work.

Yuri had started her school again. She swore under her breath to finish her last semester with flying colors after being left one year behind by her classmates. Compiling for her last project, she started to work at Seoul Cjes at the same time. She was really busy & couldn't manage her time. She couldn’t study well too, as Yunho & Chunghee came to her house every weekday night except on the weekends. During the office hour, Yunho always dropped Chunghee to his parent's house before he went to work. After he finished work, he would picked Chunghee up & they would go over to Yuri’s house. When she asked Yunho whether he was tired of picking Chunghee up from his mother's house first & then going to hers, he would only grinned & said, “It’s okay. My parent's house is only thirteen minutes away from my office. It’s not wasting time at all. Look, he always grinned whenever he sees you. I can't disappoint him.”

Yuri turned her head to another direction, pretending to be busy to find Chunghee’s toys. Her eyes were glistening with tears. If Yunho continued to bring their son almost everyday then it would be difficult for her to let them go. What was the point of forcing Yunho to take away their son if he took him back to her house almost every night? Her study would be finished in December. If she were lucky to pass her last three subjects then she would have to present her thesis on January. After that, she would fly to Australia, keeping her promise to Yoongi.

“Yunho Oppa, why do you have to bring him to see me everyday? It will be hard for us to say goodbye next year.” She said, with a soft voice. He didn't answer. Silence was accompanying them for a moment.

After a few minutes passed by, Yunho cleared his throat as he choked himself with his own breath, “Don’t talk about next year. It’s still a long time to go. What I do care about is the present. He wants to see his mother & I should bring him to her. Is it wrong?” He said in a husky voice.

Yuri stared at him & saw his eyes which were misty. He must have been hurt again, but whose fault was that? She had been hurt, too. Did he know about her bleeding heart? She had never asked him about Jiyeon & he had never talked about her either. The two of them seemed to avoid the topic regarding Jiyeon. She sighed deeply & continued to play with their son. Chunghee always got her attention & make her forget her study. Her last quiz result of steel construction wasn’t really good as she didn’t have much time to prepare herself. If she was going to put all of her attention on her son then her study would absolutely failed. She couldn’t finish her study on January. However, telling Yunho not to bring Chunghee anymore would make him more upset. She admitted that their laughs & grins had made her day brighter. In fact, she missed both of them but of course, she couldn't tell Yunho about it.

Looking at Yunho’s tender caring for Chunghee made her heart melt again, ‘Is he really a loving person?! Why was it so hard to make him love me?!’ Her heart cried out, ‘Maybe his true love is only for Jiyeon.’ She couldn’t force him if he had given his heart to Jiyeon. Sometimes, people had to appreciate what they had rather than what they wanted. She had Yoongi already. She was grateful for that but why is her heart crying out every night yearning for Yunho’s love? It was the mystery of love that she had never understood.

One fine Saturday morning, she sat down on her study chair lazily. It was still five o’clock but she got up early. Yunho told her that he had to go to Vietnam to have a business research there for one week. He would take an afternoon flight so he would drop Chunghee to her house before he went to the airport. He pleaded her to take care of Chunghee while he wasn’t in Korea. Forgetting all her depress works & exam, she agreed to take care of Chunghee.

“Thank you, Yul. You’re so nice. Thank you.” Yunho said repeatedly, as he sighed in relief.

“Why don’t you ask your mom to take care of him?” She asked casually, but she prayed inside her heart to hear a no from Yunho.

“Mom is always busy with her activities. How can she have time for Chun? She can’t take care of him as well as you do. Moreover, Chun will definitely be more joyful if he was with you.” He said in a light tone.

Yuri couldn’t argue with him as he gave her a reasonable answer. Inside her heart, she was screaming in delight as she could cuddle him again, in her arms for a week but in front of Yunho, she couldn’t let out her happiness otherwise he could read her mind & that was really dangerous.

Smiling lightly at her thought, she opened the blueprint of Yoongi’s design house. It was already October & she still hadn’t finished the design. Yoongi had asked her several times about the house design as he wanted to build it as soon as possible before she came to Sydney next year. She sighed. Why did her mind refuse to think? Why did her fingers refuse to draw? But she had to finish it otherwise she couldn’t find any reason to tell Yoongi about the delay.

She took a mechanic pencil & a triangle ruler then started to draw the interior of the main bedroom. She had designed the layout of the house. Yoongi would finish it with his architectural touch after she finished with its interior design. What did she want to put in their bedroom?

She was drawing seriously when she heard the sound of a car stopping. It wasn’t Yunho’s car. Who was it? She glanced at the clock. Eight o’clock. It should be the time Yunho dropped their son off. She got up from her chair & peek outside behind the curtains of the window. She knitted her eyebrows as she saw Yunho holding Chunghee in his arms while getting out from the passenger’s seat. Her eyes widened as she saw Jiyeon holding the steering wheel on the driver’s seat. Suddenly, a flash of fury burnt her heart. What are they doing here in her house? What did Yunho tell her? This was her house & she didn’t want that Park Jiyeon to stepped her foot inside her house. It was enough that she insulted her last time when they met at the cafe & Yunho? What did he do? Trying to take revenge by making her heart bleed again? She let out a big sigh of breath as anger & jealousy choked inside . She had to make a move otherwise Yunho & Jiyeon would be laughing behind her back. She can't lose to her for the second time.

Before she could think, she heard the doorknob turned & tiny stepped approaching her room. Chunghee could walk now, even though he still fell down but that boy had never given up. Instead of crying, he grinned when he saw his mother encouraging him to stand up. With her heart beating so fast, worried about Chunghee, she would put on a sweet smile to avoid him from crying. Yunho was even worst. He would grumbled every time Chunghee fell down onto the floor. He was too protective of their son. Yuri said to him the other day to let Chunghee find his way to walk. He finally agreed but he couldn’t take his eyes off of him when he was walking unsteadily.

“Mommy!” The loud scream of Chunghee was piercing into her ears, jolting her from her wandering mind. Chunghee could talk a few words but to her surprise, his first word was mommy, ‘Why didn’t he utter daddy?’ Her mind asked herself. Yunho would be with him forever but her? However, Yunho seemed to not mind. He shrugged his shoulders when he answered her, “What’s the difference? He will shout daddy sooner or later. I’ll be patient. Mayb
