The Emperor's Punishment

Coffee and Tea

"Why are you always so sick?" Taec asked the red-headed boy when he finally came out from yet another gruelsome battle with his stomach.

Junho was paler than before. He wasn't eating properly because his appetite was just flushed down the toilet. And water seemed to make the pain come back. He wasn't ting stools anymore. It was now liquid; brownish-coloured liquid that didn't smell all that bad, but it left a stinging pain in his .

"I have to confess something." It was time to admit everything. Karma decided to turn around and punish him for being so evil. So he knew he deserved this, but to suffer for the last three days in a row was just too much. "I bought these pills from the pharmacy."

"Pills?" Taec repeated, sitting up on the coach. He wasn't listening to the TV anymore. "What pills?"

"They're laxatives for constipation. It's supposed to speed up the ting process or something. The girl at the store was right about it. You're not supposed to take it if you don't have constipation, or else....BOOM! One ing day wasted in the toilet." He was somewhat annoyed that it had to be him.

"But why?!" Taecyeon jawdropped, unable to believe his ears. Why was Junho doing all this to himself?

"It was supposed to teach Chansung a lesson. He paid so much attention on food that I felt neglected. What else am I supposed to do? He chose bananas over me twice. TWICE, hyung!"

TAec felt so sorry for his dongsaeng that he suppressed his urge to laugh. "Then how come you're taking in all the pain?"

"I placed a pill in each banana on the table. But everytime I expected Chansung to take a bite, you guys had to interfere with my grand plan. And I couldn't let you guys suffer the consequences. No one deserved the pain more than I do. I came up with the plan and now I'm going to pay for my wrongdoing."

"Don't you have any anti-diarrheal pills?"

"They weren't stronger than the laxatives. If I take too much, I might as well die from consuming too much ting pills."

The anti-diarrheal pills were running out soon. He wanted to rush over to the pharmacy and get another strip of it, but his body didn't allow him. He also needed a toilet nearby, in case the next wave came in.

"Chansung said he's going to the pharmacy." Taec suddenly said, as if he was reading Junho's mind. The younger boy looked over at his hyung, surprised. "W-when?"

"He went out during dinner. The moment you disappeared, he threw away all the bananas and dragged Wooyoung to the pharmacy. I assumed he's getting your meds right now."

Junho couldn't believe what he heard. He quickly got up and checked the garbage bin inside the kitchen. And there it was, the balance of uneatened bananas, the one Junho bought just to fulfil his plans. He stared at it for a long time, trying to register what just happened. Chansung threw them away for him.

Chansung threw them for him!

My boyfriend threw the thing loves the most for me!

He felt very guilty after that for being the cause to that.

"Woo, I've been wondering....did I make the right choice?"

They were walking to the pharmacy then; Chansung looking forlorn and Wooyoung trying to console him. "Choice about what?"

"Junho."

Wooyoung wondered what was bothering his giant maknae so badly. "What do you mean?"

"I wouldn't have taken him as my boyfriend if I knew loving me would hurt so much." He looked like he wanted to cry, but it was dark around them. The streets were empty and dimly lighted. So Wooyoung couldn't see anything past expression.

"Don't think that way, Channie. You would have done the same isn't it? You would have jumped in front of a passing train just to save his life."

"I chose bananas over him, Woo. And now he's forcing himself to like something I knew he didn't like. What am I supposed to do? I can't stop him. He's too stubborn once he made up his mind."

Wooyoung honestly didn't know what to do either. He could only listen to his dongsaeng's woes, but anything over that was beyond his capabilities. Anyway, how would he react if he knew about the constipation pill?

They arrived at the pharmacy soon after and the same girl took care of the counter. When she saw Wooyoung, her eyes widened. "Oh my gosh, it's you again! You came in with a friend last week right?" She squealed out in excitement.

Wooyoung wanted to maul her, chop her up into pieces and toss her over a bridge right there and then. He returned a wry smile and Chansung turned to face him with a puzzled expression. "I think it's the wrong person."

"No no no, I'm never wrong. I could remember your face very well. You guys gave me your signatures too, remember? I have it here. Let me go get them."

She scampered off into the room behind the counter, and Wooyoung tried to drag Chansung out quickly. The maknae wouldn't budge. He stood there like a rock, with his eyes cast down as he waited for the girl to return. She came back within a minute. And showed them the paper Junho and Wooyoung signed not so long ago.

"What's this for, Woo?" Chansung asked, taking the paper. He studied it closely and realized the girl wasn't lying.

Wooyoung shot daggers at the girl before answering, "We came here to get meds."

"For what?"

The girl answered that before Wooyoung could say anything. "They bought ten laxatives for constipation and ten anti-diarrheal pills. It's funny because customers don't usually buy both kinds at the same time. One cures constipation, you know. But diarrhea is different."

I'm going to kill her! thought Wooyoung.

"What happens if you take those constipation pills without actually having constipation?" Chansung asked then. Wooyoung knew they were busted for good now. Maybe he should bring Junho along to Busan.

No, that was like running away from a problem. Junho would have to deal with this himself.

"You're get a bad diarrhea of course. It could last for days. The laxatives you guys bought were the most powerful on the shelf. It's only for extreme constipation." She said chirpily.

"That's enough." Wooyoung cut in. "Channie, let's go. It's getting late."

"No. We still have to get some anti-diarrheal pills." Chansung's face was unreadable, and Wooyoung realized how thin the ice was under his feet. If he doesn't thread on it carefully, he could drown under the cold icy water.

They bought a strip of anti diarrheal pills, and the maknae paid for it. No words were exchanged during this transation, and Wooyoung was honestly worried about Junho. Himself too. They walked home without saying a word, and Chansung left the pills on the table.

Junho was in the kitchen then, happy to see his giant home. But Chansung's eyes grew dark when he saw his lover. They didn't say anything to each other. The maknae walked back to his room and quite promptly, slammed the door shut.

"What happened to him, Woo?" Junho asked softly.

"He knows, Junho. He found out your plan. And I swear, I said nothing. It was that girl at the pharmacy."

Junho knew this was coming. And even if Wooyoung had spilled the beans, the truth was bound to be out sooner or later. He couldn't stay angry with anyone. Yet, he was sorry for what he did. As long as Chansung didn't suffer the consequences of his doing, then it was still fine. He dragged his feet towards Chansung's room and tried the knob.

Locked. No surprise there. Nichkhun was nowhere in sight. So there was no way he could talk to his lover until Nichkhun comes back. He slid down against the door and sat helplessly in front of it. Tears pooled in his eyes and seconds later, he sobbed silently until exhaustion eventually drifted him off to sleep.
