CHAPTER 8: SERENDIPITY

 

‘I’m here in front of their house for an hour now, debating to myself if I should go inside or not, well you can’t blame me, the last time I was here, my weird, yeah… weird, sister-in-law suddenly called me oppa, and dragged me to Jessica’s room and before I knew it a pillow was on my face already.’

“Should I go or not, should I go or not?” Yuri asked herself as she lightly hit her head on the steering wheel

After few minutes……..

“Argh!” Yuri yelled in frustration, as she got down on her car

She took a deep breath before pressing the doorbell

 

“Is Jess---“

“Ms. Jessica is waiting for you inside” The maid cut her off

“huh?” Yuri looked at her confusedly; she doesn’t remember telling anyone that she’ll meet her today.

 

“Good morning” a familiar voice greeted Yuri when she got inside the house

“Good morning” Yuri unconsciously replied

“How was your flight?” Jessica asked

“Tiring but fine” Yuri answered “how did y—“

“Your mother called me this morning, and she told me you’re coming to pick me up” Jessica said

 

Yuri makes an “o” sign on , “how did she know? I never say a word to her”

“We’ll, you’re ready?”

 

Jessica nodded…

 

“Where are your parents?” Yuri asked looking around “just want to say hi..”

“Ah… they went to work and Krystal went to see some friends just wait for me here” Jessica said as she headed to the stairs “I’ll just take my things”

 

Yuri just nodded

Yuri was sitting on the sofa when she saw for Jessica struggling from her travelling bag and rushed towards her “give me that”

“No… it’s okay” Jessica said, as she continue dragging her things and left Yuri

Yuri followed her and without saying anything, she grabbed Jessica’s things and walked without looking back.

 

“Thanks” Jessica said when they got on Yuri’s car

 “No worries.” Yuri answered, as she started her car

 

“If you want to say something, say it” Jessica said. When she notices that Yuri kept on glancing at her the whole time

“I’m sorry about that” Yuri said as she focused ahead “but actually, I want to tell you something”

 

“What is it?”

“I maybe forgot to go shopping for the house” She trailed off “I swear I didn’t me—“

 “It’s okay”

“You’re not mad or anything?” She asked in hesitation

Jessica shook her head “People tend to get busy” as she gave her a small smile

 

 

“So, where should we start?” Yuri asked as she looked around then looked at Jessica

“----“, no response from Jessica

“You okay?” Yuri asked “you kno---“

“Don’t leave my side” Jessica said in a serious tone that surprised Yuri.

“Y-yeah, of course” she said

“I’m not really comfortable in a crowded place, especially when I’m alone” Jessica said as she looked on Yuri “so, please… don’t leave me here alone”

Yuri smiled at her “I won’t”

 

They were inside a shop buying for their house when, Yuri’s phone rang

“Hello” Yuri said

“Hey, Yul… where are you?” Taeyeon asked

“I’m with Jessica” Yuri answered as she looked at Jessica who’s talking to the saleslady

 

They were talking for minutes now when she notices that Jessica is disappeared where she last saw her.

“I’ll call you later” Yuri said as she hung up immediately without waiting for Taeyeon’s response

Yuri rushed where she last saw Jessica “Miss?” she said to the sales lady, “Where is she? The blonde girl”

“I think I saw her went outside after she finished her or---“

 

Yuri didn’t wait for the saleslady to finish what she’s going to say and rushed outside. She looked around but couldn’t see any sign of Jessica.

 

“Should we go there?” Jessica asked while walking on the mall

“----“

“Yu—“Jessica couldn’t finish what she’s going to say when she realized that Yuri’s not with her anymore

She looked around, but she couldn’t see her, then she starts to panicked. Anxiety kicks in, and then someone suddenly bumps into someone.

 

“I’m sorry” The man who just bump into her said

But Jessica didn’t pay attention to him

“Miss, you okay?” The man asked, and was about to touch Jessica when Jessica suddenly sat down on the floor, and cover her ears

“no--, no---, stop” Jessica said, now crying, wrapping herself.

 

Then the people who are walking around starts to looked at her

 

“Jessica!!!” Yuri shouted as she run back and forth “Jessica!!!”

She was running like hell, when she saw people gathering on a corner, as if they’re watching some movie but hell, what’s important right now to her is Jessica. She was going to leave when suddenly a familiar voice, got her attention

 

“No!”

“Jessica.” Yuri uttered as she went inside the crowd

“Stop!” She heard Jessica again

“Jessica!” Yuri shouted and rushed towards her when she saw Jessica on the floor

“What happen?” Yuri asked and kneel in front of Jessica and was about to touch Jessica, when Jessica hit her hands

“No!” Jessica yelled again

 

Even though she was shocked, she hugged Jessica “I’m sorry… I’m sorry”

“Stop it! Stop it!” Jessica said as she hit Yuri and struggling to free from her

“It’s okay, it’s okay now” Yuri said as she hugged Jessica tightly “it’s me… it’s me”

“Stop, stop it” Jessica said, in a weak voice

“It’s okay… it’s okay” Yuri said, still hugging Jessica

“Stop it” Jessica said as she leaned and cry on Yuri’s chest

“It’s Yuri… everything is going to be okay now” Yuri said “it’s me”

 

Then guards came…

 

“Is everything okay now?” the guards asked

“Yeah…” Yuri answered still hugging Jessica

“I don’t think she’s okay” The man said “she suddenly hit me when I’m just asking her if she’s okay”

“I’m sorry about that” Yuri said

“I don’t think she’s okay.” The man said

 

She isn’t the type to lose her temper easily but anger suddenly surged in, she pulled herself from Jessica and was about to stand up when Jessica pulled her clothes

 

Yuri gave her a reassuring smile “It’s okay…”, then she wiped Jessica’s tears “I’m not going to leave you, not again”, then she took Jessica’s hand, helping her to stand up

 

“I think you really hav—“

Jessica hides behind Yuri, while Yuri holding her hand tightly.

 

“I apologize from what happen but if you don’t shut up, You’ll be the one to end up in the hospital” Yuri said in a serious tone

The man didn’t say anything anymore and left as well as everyone who’s watching.

 

“I’m sorry” Yuri whispered as she faced Jessica “I promised to not leave you bu---“

“It’s okay” Jessica said “so please stop saying sorry”

“Bu—“

“You came.” Jessica said as she hugged Yuri “And I’m really thankful for that”,

 

“If something like this happen again…”, she said as she hugged Jessica back “Don’t you forget to call my name, I’ll be with you in a heartbeat”

“Thank you” Jessica answered, as she pulled herself from Yuri “let’s go now, we have to organize our house”

Yuri nodded, as she hold Jessica’s hand “Let’s go home”

 

 

“I’m so tired” Jessica said as she slammed her body on their new couch

Yuri chuckled “you should sleep now”

“You too” Jessica said “you look so tired, let’s finish this tomorrow”

Yuri nodded “Use the masters bedroom, I’ll sleep on the guest room”

“You sure?” Jessica asked hesitantly

Yuri nodded

“Yuri”

“Hm?”

“Thank you”

“For what?”

“I know that if you didn’t agree to marry me, my father will find someone who will, so thank you. I’m really thankful that it’s you”

“I never imagined myself settling down sooner especially under these circumstances and for some weird reason, I can’t believe I’m saying this but, I guess me too.” Smiling at her softly

 

Jessica smiled at her, “Thank you…”
