CHAPTER 2: WEDDING IN 3 WEEKS

 

“Hey, buddy what’s new?” Taeyeon asked as she saw Yuri drinking on a bar “Where have you been? You look like a mess”

“Taeyeon-ah, can you please tell me that everything was just a dream” Yuri said as she finishes another glass again

“What happen? You called me at this hour just to tell you that it’s just a dream” Taeyeon asked “you’re scaring me.”

“My parents want me to get married”

“Again?” Taeyeon grin “I lost count on how many times your parents wanted you to get married, but here you are, still single”

“That’ll change in three weeks” Yuri said, gritting her teeth “

 “For ing real?” Taeyeon asked, not believing

“That’s why I’m here, enjoying my life as a single”

“If you’re messing me… I’m going to kill you” Taeyeon said as she took a drink “for real”

“How I wish I was just messing with you” Yuri said as took another glass again “How I wish it’s not really happening”

Taeyeon don’t know what to say and just stared at Yuri

“I don’t know what words do I have to say to comfort you,” Taeyeon said as she squeezed Yuri’s shoulder 

"You don't have to say anything, I don’t think there’s a word that can comfort me right now”

“Do you know him?”

 “It’s not a he… but she”

“You’ve got to be kidding me”

 

 

Yuri went to the kitchen massaging her head.

“What happen to you last night?” Mr. Kwon asked while reading a newspaper

“Nothing, Taeyeon and I are just chatting”

“Chatting? To the point that you can’t even walk properly said?” Mr. Kwon asked, still reading the newspaper

“Dad, please, not now” Yuri said as she took a glass of water

“I understand how you feel, and I’m sorry for that”

Yuri look at him, sarcastically “You understand how I feel? Really? Did your parents force you to marry Mom?”

“I’m sorry.” Mr. Kwon said as she walks up to Yuri “I know, I have no right to make a decision in your life”

“Yet you did.” Yuri said bitterly “Do you have any idea what I feel? What you’re asking me to give up, hell you didn’t even ask. You left me no choice”

“And I’m really, really sorry” Mr. Kwon said apologetically “But it’s not going to change anything and instead of getting yourself drunk, why don’t you go and talk to your future wife”

 “And what we are going to talk about?”

“Anything” Mr. Kwon answered “like—“

“Like some couple counselling, huh?” Yuri asked sarcastically

Mr. Kwon looked at Yuri “How can you work out your relationship if you’re acting like this?”

“We don’t have any relationship!” Yuri said, cannot hold herself anymore “I don’t even know her, how do you expect me to act?”

“Act like someone who’s getting married” Mr. Kwon said “act like someone whose going to be a parent because in 3 we—“

“Yes dad, in 3 weeks!” Yuri said cut him off “In 3 weeks I’m going to marry someone God knows who! So why don’t you just give me my ing life in 3 weeks!” Then she went out of the kitchen

“Yuri!! Kwon Yuri!!” Mr. Kwon said “We’re not done!!”

Yuri slammed her door as soon as she entered her room

 

 

FLASHBACK

 

“Please”

“Y-you’re just joking right?” Yuri asked nervously, and then she looked at Mr. Kwon

“Please” Mr. Jung plead again

 

Yuri drop on her sit as if the whole world is on her back, She closed her eyes as she cupped her face on both of her hand

 

“I can’t think of someone else besides you who will marry my daughter and will take care of her child,” Mr. Jung said

“You know why don’t we just do this, when her daughter came out… I will take care of her and protect her… I promise” Yuri said negotiating “I don’t need to marry her to do that.”

“We can protect and take care of her” Mr. Jung said “but what we need is someone, who will be there for her, looked at her while she’s growing up… I want her to grow up with a whole family”

“And it’s not me, Uncle Jung” Yuri argue as she shakes her head

Mr. Jung didn’t answer

“And they’re not safe with me” Yuri said as she stood up “I’m a se—“

“Secret agent” Mr. Jung said “I know”

 

Yuri looked at her with widened eyes

 

“I know everything” Mr. Jung said “I’m like your father, like you”

“You knew, and you still want your daughter to marry me?” Yuri asked sarcastically “You know how dangerous it is, to be with us”

“I know you can protect them” Mr. Jung said “I have faith in you”

“I can’t even consider myself that I’m a grown up person, and you’r—“

“I know, you’ll be a good parents” Mr. Jung said “please, I’m begging you”

 

END OF FLASHBACK

 

 

KWON INDUSTRY

 

“Hey!!” Taeyeon greeted as soon as she entered Yuri’s office

Yuri didn’t answer her and just leaned her head on her chair

 

“You shouldn’t have gone to work today” Taeyeon said as she sat down “You’re a total waste last night”

“What do you want me to do?” Yuri asked “Stay in our house and listen to my father’s words all day”

 

Taeyeon didn’t answer

 

“No update on Neptune?” Yuri asked

“Unfortunately.”

“I’m so bored here” Yuri said

“Why don’t you go on a meeting with all your clients” Taeyeon said

“You’re seriously telling me that?” Yuri said as she looked at Taeyeon

Taeyeon nodded “Yup… instead of sulking here, keep yourself busy”

 

Yuri sighed

 

“So what’s your plan?” Taeyeon asked

“On what?”

“You know, in marriage thing”

“I don’t know” Yuri answered helplessly

“Do you want to marry her?”

Yuri stared at her “are you really asking me that?”

“Then why did you agree on it?”

“Her father was begging me, my father’s best friend was begging me, and what do you expect me to say?”

“That you don’t want to”

“Did you think I didn’t say that?”

“I know you; if you don’t want to do it there is no way someone can force you too” Taeyeon said in a matter-of-fact tone “And you’ve done it for so many times why should it be different this time?”

“Because she’s pregnant..”

 

A moment of silence. Taeyeon couldn’t close .

 

“Close your mouth or I’ll put something on it”

"That certainly can make a freakin in difference" Taeyeon mumble “So, are you… you’re going to be a mo—“

“Don’t ing say it.”

Taeyeon blew out an exhale “This is ing insane…”

“Tell me about it.”

 

“I won’t mention you being a, you know” Taeyeon said “but what I’m really curious is, who’s your future wife?”

“I don’t know”

 “I’m going to meet her soon, why don’t you tell me who she is…”

“Swear I don’t know…” Yuri answered “All I know is he’s the daughter of my father’s best friend, who’s also agent like us, who live in States and just came here to ask me to marry his daughter”

 

 

“Fany-ahh… what I’m going to do?” Jessica asked as if she’s going to cry “I don’t want to get married”

Tiffany can only hugged her best friend

“Sorry, but this time… I won’t be able to help you” Tiffany said, comforting Jessica

“Why don’t you help me and get out of this place?” Jessica asked

“And where will you go?”

“France, Japan… anywhere…I just want to get out this place” Jessica answered

“I will gladly help you if you’re not pregnant” Tiffany said “If you leave now, how can you make a living on your own, how can you raise your child alone?”

 

Jessica didn’t answer

 

“And even if you can, do you think your father won’t be able to find you?” Tiffany asked “even if he needs to turn the world around just to find you, he’ll do it”

 

Jessica could only sigh helplessly, Tiffany’s is right. Her father will turn the world upside down just to find her.

 

“Don’t worry… I’ll go and follow you there” Tiffany said comforting her “I’m going to talk my father about this… I’m sure she will let me go there”

“Thank you.”
