“Alright girls, that’s enough practice for today.” A short woman in heels and a corset around thirty said as she went over to the computer and turned off the song that had been playing on repeat for the past two hours, Supa Luv by Teen Top. The woman smiled and yelled to outside the practice room. “Luke! Bring the cart in here.” A small boy around the age of nine came in pushing a cart with water bottles and bubble tea on it. “You girls need to rest too. You will get paid the same even if your show isn’t very good.”

                A girl with glasses and shoulder length reddish brown hair smiled and sat on the floor, “Katie, how will we get everyone interested in KPOP if all we do is serve them food and drinks?” The older woman laughed. “We do run a café first, Jade.”

                Jade worked at the first ever kpop maid café in America. She came up with the initial idea and then her friends helped put it all together. Katie was in charge of the cooking and business parts, Luke was her son. Jade was one of the maids with her best friends. There were a total of five maids: Jade 21, Lizzie 22, Elle 27, Shelby 18, and Kiwi 15. Jade was known as the visual and she sometimes got modeling jobs. Lizzie had short blonde hair and glasses. She liked collecting and wearing different wigs and cosplayed often. Elle was half Trinidadian and half white. She would act like the big sister to everyone. Shelby was the tallest and had short brown hair and liked to dress like a boy. Kiwi had her hair cut into a bob and she dyed her hair frequently. It was currently dark brown.

                Most of the time they were just working as waitresses or baristas but twice a month they put on a kpop show where they wore costumes inspired by videos and did the choreography on stage. They were all kpop fans and wanted to spread kpop to the people around where they lived.

                Luke brought Jade a green tea bubble tea and sat next to her. He thought of Jade as his best friend since she didn’t yell at him and always tell him to go away like everyone else did. She drank the bubble tea and wiped her forehead. It was around 9 pm. They had a practice room in the back of their café and they closed at 7 pm and automatically go and practice. It was getting late and Kiwi had school the next day so Shelby drove her home and went home.

                Katie had finished cleaning up the kitchen and decided it was time to take Luke home and put him to bed. Jade, Lizzie and Elle were left there alone and told to lock up when they leave. Lizzie laid on the floor next to Jade and stared at her water bottle. “What do you guys think? Are we getting better?” Elle sat in the chair next to the computer. “Yeah I think we are getting much better.” Jade was mindlessly stabbing the tapioca pearls in the bottom of her bubble tea. Elle sighed and threw a water bottle at her. “Oh my God! Drink more water! You always just drink the bubble tea.”

                Jade pouted at being hit with a plastic bottle. “The bubble tea tastes better!” Lizzie laughed and rolled onto her back and started staring at her hands. “Let’s go do something.” Elle turned off the computer. “Let’s go to the bar!” The three girls locked up and walked down the street to the bar. They drank together till bar close at 2 am. Jade didn’t drink much; she had to supervise the older girls. All of the girls lived together besides Kiwi. They got home and Shelby was playing on her computer.

                They four girls decided to watch Ninja Assassin and stare at Rain and Lee Joon. The movie finished around 4:30 in the morning. Jade walked into her bedroom, put on pajamas and plopped onto her bed and quickly fell asleep.

                Suddenly she found herself standing in a white room with a paint splattered couch and floor and a door on one of the walls. She immediately recognized it as the set from UKISS’s DoraDora MV. She looked at herself and was in her pajamas she fell asleep in. She went up to the couch and started reading all of the writing on the couch. She sat on the couch and looked around. She sighed and leaned forwards. She realized she was dreaming and said to herself. “This is a really boring dream… There’s no one here and only a couch.”

                She stood up and went over to the door curiously and opened it. She smiled when she saw that it was the white and blue block hallway from the same video. “I am stuck in a UKISS video.” She went over to the area where Eli was lying down in the video and saw there was an open space behind the blocks. She walked through it and saw the big empty black room where they did part of their choreography.

                She looked around and saw another door. She decided that she was bored so she stood in place and faced the wall and started trying to teach herself the dance to the video. She started moving her feet around, mumbling the song to herself.

                She suddenly heard a laugh. She about had a heart attack and turned around. Eli was standing there in a pair of sweat pants and a black t-shirt. “Joha!” Jade sighed. “Of course, I dream of an English speaking idol and he speaks to me in Korean…” Eli laughed. “I’m in your dream? I thought you were in my dream?” Jade shrugged.

                Eli wasn’t her favorite idol, but he was her UKISS bias. She was excited to see him but she had dreamed about idols before.

                Eli looked around. “So have you found anything interesting here?” Jade shook her head. “I showed up in the room with the couch and ended up here.” Eli nodded and walked up to Jade. “I was suddenly in the sideways bedroom. I’m Eli, which you apparently already know. So who are you?” She smiled. “I’m Jade.” He nodded and looked around.

                “This is the weirdest dream I’ve ever had. I feel like I’m awake but I know I’m dreaming.” He said as he sat on the ground. Jade sat next to him on the floor. “Same here. There isn’t even anything making noise. It’s awkwardly quiet.” He nodded and leaned back on his arms. “Should I teach you the actual choreography?” She smiled and nodded. If she wasn’t so sure that she was dreaming, she would be nervous and shy, but this was a dream and no one would ever know.

                Eli stood up and held his hand out to her and helped her up. She smiled as he got into position.  She followed his movements and directions exactly as he said to. They were working on just the foot work.
