What am I?

I know I said a couple days but then I got swamped with work. Oopsies? Enjoy~

The sun was setting on a Sunday's orange horizon. Everyone in the streets was out to grab a bite with their families before another week of hard work while Sooyoung sat at the hospital stool next to Taeyeon during one of their usual hospital visits. It had been exactly one week since Sunny's operation and it has been exactly one week since Sunny has been in a coma. They didn't lose hope though, not even a drop. The doctor had promised that their dearest loved one would wake up so they believed his words one hundred percent.

Donghae just finished one of his checkups and was pleased to say that Sunny's recuperation has been progressing very well and they should be expecting a bright, sunny bunny to be waking up very within the next few days. They both smiled and thanked him for all he has done as he walked out of the room.

"When Sunny wakes up are you going to continue your plan?" Sooyoung asked Taeyeon.

"Yeah, when she's good to go." Taeyeon responded.

"Do you really think it's a good idea though? Shouldn't she rest for a while?" She was concerned.

"Whenever she's ready, we will go. Inam in no rush. Are you sure it's not just you who won't be ready?" She giggled.

"What do you expect me to do then? I don’t want to live in that house all alone." She pouted. "Sica's probably going to leave me to go live with Hyo since her musical is done."

"Ask Fany to move in with you then." She suggested. "I'm sure she'd be more than willing."

"Yeah, but it won't be the same without you guys. You're all going to Jeonju without me. And who’s going to cook my meals?!" Tears started to form in her eyes at the thought of her unplanned meals.

"Cook your own meals, Fatso.” Taeyeon spat.

“But, But--” She began to complain.

“Sunny and I are only moving up there because of our expansion. Once it's steady, we're gunna come back." Taeyean reminded. "And I'm sure Hyo's gunna find a way to start a branch in Seoul so she could supervise you and her studio. She's not going to let go of that place so easily."

"Why did all of this have to happen? We're being split apart. We've been together ever since middle school but now we're all leaving each other." Sooyoung rubbed her tearing eyes with her sleeves as she began to cry.

Just then Taeyeon felt movement from the bed and noticed a shift in Sunny's arm's position. Her eyes traced upward and saw the fluttering of her girlfriend's eyelids. Her arms went straight from Sooyoung's arm to Sunny's.

"Why are you crying this time, my crybaby?" Sunny croaked.

"S-Sunny?!" Sooyoung's eyes looked at the shorty in shock. Another wave hit. "Oh my god! Sunny you're awake! I-I need to call everyone." She spoke as she cried even more.

"Tae?" Sunny looked at her right and saw the person she missed so much.

"You feeling alright, bunny?" Taeyeon caressed the side of her face while her other hand brushed away the hair from Sunny's eyes.

"Not bad. How long have I been sleeping?" She asked.

"One week exactly. Today is Sunday and the sun is setting." Taeyeon smiled.

As the two lovebirds caught up on everything they missed, Sooyoung was calling Jessica after she finished her conversation with Tiffany. A few dial tones later, the brunette finally answered.

"What is it Sooyoung? I'm kinda busy here! I about to head out for the musical's celebration party so make it fast." The brunette spoke with a tinge of annoyance.

"Well I just thought your spoiled might want to know that Sunny's awake." Sooyoung sneered.

"WHAT?! She's awake?! I'm on my way!" Jessica hastily said.

"What happened to your oh so important party?" She rolled her eyes.

"That can wait you sarcastic little brat! Besides, I can just be fashionable late." Sooyoung could feel the eyes being rolled on the other side of the line. "I'll be there soon."

With that, Sooyoung ended the call and went back to Sunny. She flashed an enormous, bright grin and hugged the danshin with so much love. Sunny patted the girl's back and giggled. She felt nice and bright after waking up to the two having a conversation with each other instead of them staring at her for god knows how long. She never was one for attention so she wanted to stay behind the scenes as much as she could.

"Should I tell Hyo?" Sooyoung asked.

"Are you stupid, or are you stupid?" Taeyeon looked at the giraffe with a mind-blown expression.

"What?! She might be busy and you know if I tell her she's gunna get right into her car and drive all the way down only to drive back up after a few hours." Sooyoung tried to make her question sound less ignorant.

"She still needs to know, idiot."

Sooyoung took her phone back out and dialed the two numbers. She was wiping away the remaining tears under her eyes when Hyoyeon picked up.

"What's up Soo? Make it fast, I'm about to enter a meeting." Hyoyeon quickly spoke.

"What is up with everyone being busy today?!" Sooyoung ranted.

"Soo!" Hyoyeon called for her to get back to the topic.

              "Sunny's awake!" She informed.

"Really?! I gotta get down there then!" The girl exclaimed on the other line.

"No. Stay. Sunny told you to do so. Come when you can, not when you want." Sooyoung instructed.

"Alright, alright. Fine. I'll see you soon. Bye!" Hyoyeon hung up quickly.

“Well that was easier than I thought.” Sooyoung mumbled.

Taeyeon called Donghae and informed him that Sunny had woken up while Sooyoung called back her girlfriend. Nothing but Sunny’s smile could make her feel so elated and light hearted. They shared a comfortable silence as they waited for Donghae to arrive. As Taeyeon looked at the two she couldn’t help but think about all they’ve been through. After this surgery and the endless years of self hatred and regret, she has finally come to a new light and has accepted what she has done. The only thing she could do now is to make sure nothing anywhere near similar to what she has done before, will happen to Sunny or the others ever again. Her eyes looked at Sunny’s again as it had a tale to tell.

“Sunny, I think I’ve figured myself out after all of this.” Taeyeon spoke of enlightenment.

Sunny looked at her with loving eyes. “Then what are you?”

“What am I?” She reiterated confusingly.

“Yes, silly. You figured yourself out right? So, what are you?”  She smiled.

“I… I am a lover, not a fighter.” Taeyeon looked at her with eyes that beamed uncertainty as if she was looking for confirmation.

“Yes, yes you are. You are my lover.” Sunny took off her oxygen mask, sat up and kissed Taeyeon with confirmation and acceptance.

“Thank you, Sunny.” Her eyes reached to the very depths of Sunny’s soul. “You have changed me in so many ways I never thought possible.”

“And so have you to me.” Sunny beamed her a blinding smile.

“Sooyoung! Hurry! I need to get there before she gets off of work!” The brunette reprimanded the tall girl.

“Give me a few more minutes!” Sooyoung struggled to say. “How can one person have so many things!” She

Chapter 50: WHY IS THIS SO GOOD? I know why, because you are an amazing writer who only gets better with each chapter and your progression of the story was very much more believable than most stories in which "they got together after first sight". You developed the characters and gave them their flaws and their strengths and how that translated into the story was amazing. It looks like Punch could be an entire spinoff/sequel story on its own, but I feel content with you not doing a sequel and that's a good thing. Its one thing to leave your readers wanting more, but to do that AND make them feel content without more is a weird paradox you accomplished. Your writing style is not the most sophisticated or fancy, but its one that allows for many readers to enjoy simply, but has enough complexity to make it leave no questions unanswered. I loved this story and can't wait to read more from you
