EDITED

Sunny woke up to Taeyeon’s calm sleeping face and smiled. Unable to fall back asleep, she went downstairs to make some coffee. Since it was a rest day, she didn’t expect anyone to be awake so when she saw a tall slender girl sitting on the kitchen stool she was surprised.

“What are you doing up so early in the morning?” She went and sat on the stool next to her.

“I could say the same about you,” Sooyoung smiled and took another sip of her coffee, “couldn’t fall back asleep so I woke up. You?”

“Same,” she went around the table and poured herself a cup of coffee.

“What’s wrong? You’ve been really down lately,” Sooyoung turned and looked at Sunny with worry.

“I’m not so sure myself.” Sunny slumped with heavy shoulders and took a sip of her coffee.

“The house has been really quiet during the nights lately. It’s like you’ve all stopped bringing the excitement," she turned the stool around, leaned back on the counter with her coffee in her hand and looked out the big sliding glass door that connected their living room to their backyard.

“Yeah…” She turned around and looked out too. “Things have changed lately. I don’t feel the urge to go to clubs anymore.”

“I can tell. Last time I went to the club with Fany one of the guys came up and asked where you three were nowadays."

“It’s just really strange. Ever since that night, everything between me and Taeyeon has become awkward. We can’t carry a conversation for long and it seems like we've been avoiding each other. Even though it seems like we've drifted apart, whenever I look at her this warm feeling spreads throughout my entire body.”

“I think I know what’s going on. I get that feeling every time I look at Fany,” Sooyoung grinned as she pictured Tiffany in her mind.

“It can’t be that. We’ve known each other for so long and we’re both as straight as a pole,” Sunny looked at her seriously.

“That’s the only possible reason Sunny. Besides, love has its own way of doing things. You don’t get to choose who you fall in love with, it chooses for you.”

“I don’t know, Youngie. This all seems so… uncanny.”

“Think about it, you’ve known each other for how long? Eleven years? That’s a lot of time together. You know her better than anyone else. And to be quite honest, I thought you two were going to end up with each other. Of course, that was before you guys started sleeping around.”

Sunny pondered on what Sooyoung said. There was no use in trying to deny that she was right. Eleven years is a lot of time with someone. As she remembered the times she spent with Taeyeon, a smile broke out from her and she felt warm. Even though falling in love with her best friend is a possibility, she was disappointed that it took drugs and alcohol to ignite their long overdue feelings for one another.

“Maybe I’m just really happy that she saved me twice in the past month and I’m like fangirling over her or something.”

“Could be, but I highly doubt it.”

“How are things between you and Fany?” she changed the subject.

“Things are fine but she seems more stressed out lately,” Sooyoung looked down at the coffee in her hand.

“Did anything happen between you two?”

“Not really, but that girl who I told you about that kissed Fany accidentally was actually a friend of hers. And now that friend works with her.”

“Ohhh scandalous. Do tell.” Sunny leaned resting her elbows on her knees and coffee at hand.

“There’s nothing really to tell though. She just told me that they were really good friends and they lost touch so when I went over to her house she said that she came by just to catch up on things.” She shrugged.

“What’s the girl’s name?”

“Yuri.”

“Hmmm I see. Is Fany acting any different around you?”

“Not at all. She’s still all over me as usual. Except now she’s been so lately. It’s kinda scary,” she shivered.

“Well that’s good to hear. At least your love life isn’t crumbling down like the rest of us,” she gave out a dry laugh.

“Wanna go do something?” Sooyoung said trying to change the subject.

Sunny laughed inside noticing what Sooyoung was trying to do. She knew what she said made an awkward atmosphere but it was the truth.

“Sure, where should we go?”

“Iunno. Let’s just drive into the city and see where our eyes take us.”

“Sounds good!”

The two of them finished their coffee and went upstairs. Sunny quietly got ready careful not to wake up Taeyeon who was still in deep slumber. When she finished she took one last look at her and smiled as she walked out the door. Sooyoung just threw an outfit together and waited at the door for Sunny. They went out, locked the door and walked to Sooyoung’s bike.

“No matter how many years it’s been, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to you riding a bike.” Sunny chuckled.

“It’s not like you own a car, so too bad," she flashed a smile, “Now get on.”

Sooyoung handed her a helmet and Sunny got on. She wrapped her arms around Sooyoung as the latter backed out of the driveway and headed straight into the heart of the city.

The night sky has graced itself on the streets of Seoul. Jessica and Tiffany arrived home after their long day away. They hugged and said their goodbyes. Tiffany went to her car and Jessica walked in with her endless amount of bags. Hyoyeon and Taeyeon were already home and sat on the couch with their feet on the coffee table reading their newspapers and magazines.

“I’m home!” Jessica dropped the bags and sighed.

“Wow. That’s a lot of bags Sica. Let me help you with those,” Taeyeon put down her newsp

Chapter 50: WHY IS THIS SO GOOD? I know why, because you are an amazing writer who only gets better with each chapter and your progression of the story was very much more believable than most stories in which "they got together after first sight". You developed the characters and gave them their flaws and their strengths and how that translated into the story was amazing. It looks like Punch could be an entire spinoff/sequel story on its own, but I feel content with you not doing a sequel and that's a good thing. Its one thing to leave your readers wanting more, but to do that AND make them feel content without more is a weird paradox you accomplished. Your writing style is not the most sophisticated or fancy, but its one that allows for many readers to enjoy simply, but has enough complexity to make it leave no questions unanswered. I loved this story and can't wait to read more from you
