Merry Christmas y'all! Here's your present. Fluffy Hyosica and Sunny alive

Trembling hands were held tight together while their fidgeting feet walked to and fro the hall. Hours have past and the end was drawing near. Small prayers were said from the depths of Sooyoung and Tiffany’s hearts. Though the others were not one to be religious, they joined in as well in hopes that it would help the outcome. Taeyeon couldn’t keep the uneasiness within her any longer and joined her sister’s pacing. After hours of waiting, Jessica lost her battle against consciousness and succumbed onto the seats on the waiting room. Hyoyeon would have sat next to her and given her some cushion for her head but she was just as fidgety as her sister. It would have made Jessica’s slumber bumpy, not that it would have awakened the sleeping beauty anyways.

The clock struck 4am and the girls’ bodies were slowly becoming heavier to carry. Just as they all were about to lose hope, the light flashed green and Taeyeon was the first to notice.

“Guys!” Her voice brought the impatient girls back from their daydream. “Oh my god. Where is the doctor already?!”

“He should be coming out soon. Breathe, Taeyeon.” Hyoyeon instructed while waking up her sleeping girlfriend.

Just then, an aged man in scrubs walked out while taking his mask off. He wiped the remaining sweat off his forehead and braced the presence of the 5 girls. He smiled a small grin which resulted in relieved sighs all around.

“Good news is she’s alive and the operation was successful. Both tumors have been extracted.” He spoke relieved.

“Oh thank God.” Sooyoung patted down her fast beating heart.

“Good news? That means there’s bad news.” Taeyeon looked at him still worried. “What is it?”

“She’s in a coma.” A steady but soft voice said.

“You’ve got to be kidding me.” Hyoyeon let out a dry scoff. “Is this some drama to you?!” Her top was about to be blown but Jessica held her back, calming the fuming girl.

“Is it permanent?” Taeyeon shakily spoke as tears streamed down her pale face.

“No. She should wake up soon. I cannot say when but a coma is normal. Because of this long operation the brain needs to recuperate and heal. Nothing was damaged in the process so I promise you she will wake up. Her brain just needs time.” He explained. “Do not worry, she is fine.” He reassured.

“Thank you, doctor.” Tiffany thanked. “Can we see Sunny now?”

“Yes. She should be back in her room as of now.” The doctor relayed.

“Thank you for your hard work.” Jessica thanked him once more.

“No problem. This is my job.” He smiled.

Sooyoung gingerly lifted Taeyeon from the chair and pulled her onto her back. All the energy Taeyeon mustered up to remain conscious has disappeared and her legs gave way. Though Sooyoung wasn’t any different, she had enough to carry her back to Sunny. It was the least she could do for Taeyeon while she was in such a fragile state. Hyoyeon slowly walked back with Jessica holding her up with an arm around her waist. She soon brushed Jessica away as she saw eyes from many patients and workers. Even during this situation she still managed to think about Jessica’s reputation. She didn’t want people to know that she had a girlfriend, emphasis on girl. Jessica on the other hand, rolled her eyes and helped Hyoyeon back. Much to the latter’s retaliation.

They arrived at the room and Taeyeon quickly slid off Sooyoung’s back and went to Sunny. Her left hand went straight to Sunny’s left while her right caressed the pale face of her girlfriend. A tear descended from her right eye but no more was shed. All the tears she had have already been cried out at the waiting room. She now realized that she needed to stay strong for Sunny, she wouldn’t want her to see herself in crumbles.

Hyoyeon stood next to her sister, squeezing Taeyeon’s shoulder in comfort. She reassured her with a smile and Taeyeon couldn’t help but smile back. They both looked back at their short friend and were thankful that she was still alive and breathing. Her eyes looked at her watch and read 4:30am. She sighed and rubbed her temples in contemplation. Though she didn’t want to, she still had to be responsible.  Now that she knew Sunny would be okay, she could leave with a lightened heart.

“I have to go.” Hyoyeon frowned. “I’ll see you guys soon, okay? Tae, text me her number.” Taeyeon nodded understanding who she was referring to.

“Where are you going?” Jessica asked.

“I gotta go back. I have work in 4 hours.” She answered, saddened.

“He’ll understand. Just stay for the night. You can’t drive at this state.” Jessica held Hyoyeon’s arm worriedly.

“I’ll be fine, Sica. I’ve done it before. I’ll see soon.” Hyoyeon kissed her goodbye and exited the room.

Jessica watched her leave and she didn’t like it. Not one bit. She didn’t know what soon meant. Would it be tomorrow or next week? Or would it be an entire month? She didn’t want to be left again. The feeling of sleeping alone in bed and not waking up next her or being awoken by Hyoyeon, she didn’t want to experience again. Just as she was about to sit on the chair with tears falling endlessly, Tiffany spoke.

“Go after her, dummy. You only have two shows left and they aren’t for another 3 days.” Tiffany said. “I’ll come pick you up in two days.”

“That idiot is trying to be strong. She’ll need you the next few days.” Taeyeon mentioned. “I told her about her mom. They found her.”

“I-I” Jessica tried to talk.

“Go before she leaves the building. We parked on the 2nd floor next to the elevator.” Taeyeon cut her off.

Just like that, Jessica ran for her. Inside, she found herself laughing at the thought that she never runs. Yet for Hyoyeon, she’d run for miles. She punched the elevator button for the 2nd floor parking lot and waited. The doors opened and she ran through the parking lot looking for Hyoyeon. A familiar car caught her sight as it was turning towards the exit. She jumped in front of it and it stopped in the nick of time.

“Oh my God!” Hyoyeon flew out of the car and went to her. “Are you okay?! What were you thinking?!” She held Jessica by the shoulders and inspected for any signs of injury.

Throwing caution out the window and along with all the s she gave if someone were to see this, she forcefully landed her lips on Hyoyeon’s. Her arms slid around Hyoyeon’s neck and deepened their kiss. She didn’t want to end it. Hell, she would have continued it for centuries until Hyoyeon broke their heated kiss. Her head looked from left to right to check for any signs of a breathing soul. She let out a relieved sigh when she found no one.

“What were you thinking? I thought I was about to have a heart attack!” Hyoyeon nagged.

“I don’t want you to leave without me.” Jessica frowned. “You don’t always have to be strong, Hyo. This is why I’m here. I’m going with you.”

“What about your musical?” She questioned her dodging the subject.

“Tiff said she’ll come pick me up.”

“Alright.” She sighed in defeat and went to the driver seat.

Jessica smiled and went into the passenger side seat. The two temporarily forgot about Sunny’s condition as their minds were on something else. Jessica was elated to be able to spend more time with the girl she’s always deprived of and as for Hyoyeon, her mind drifted towards her family. Her phone lit up just as she got onto the freeway and asked Jessica to see what it was about.

“Taeyeon texted you a number and said ‘stop being such a prick and just cry.” Jessica read.

“I already cried .” Hyoyeon mumbled in complaint to Taeyeon.

“What was that?” Jessica asked her, not hearing what she said.

“It was nothing.” Hyoyeon yawned.

“Do you want me to drive? You have to work in 4 hours.”  Jessica brought her hand on top of Hyoyeon’s. “You should sleep while you can. I’ll drive.”

Hyoyeon shook her head. “I’ll be fine. Why don’t you sleep?”

Chapter 50: WHY IS THIS SO GOOD? I know why, because you are an amazing writer who only gets better with each chapter and your progression of the story was very much more believable than most stories in which "they got together after first sight". You developed the characters and gave them their flaws and their strengths and how that translated into the story was amazing. It looks like Punch could be an entire spinoff/sequel story on its own, but I feel content with you not doing a sequel and that's a good thing. Its one thing to leave your readers wanting more, but to do that AND make them feel content without more is a weird paradox you accomplished. Your writing style is not the most sophisticated or fancy, but its one that allows for many readers to enjoy simply, but has enough complexity to make it leave no questions unanswered. I loved this story and can't wait to read more from you
