Unnoticed Glances and Operation Koyerika Advances

Third Time's The Charm
ENJOY!!

1:00 PM

“I’m going to really get yelled at if you keep pulling me out of class like this.” Shun said as he entered the convertible that Aya had rented during her stay in Tokyo. She’d always said that she’d rather drive around herself than have anyone else drive her around.

“I’m here to say sorry for yesterday. I realize now that running out on people isn’t friendly or a nice thing to do ‘cause if the person cares about you all they’ll do the night when they’re sleeping is think about whether they hurt you or not. So anyways…I’m sorry.” Aya said keeping her eyes on the road as she started up and sped away from the school and Shun leaned back into his seat.

He was missing Math for this girl now. Not only was that his only subject with Mao but it was also his favourite.

“Well you needn’t have worried that much. I barely spent anytime wondering about what happened to you to make you freak out like that because I remembered you’re naturally a bit insane.” Shun said grinning widely but the girl who stared at him from under her big sunglasses was not laughing whatsoever.

“Whatever Shun. I got to come down here for a reason. I told my best friend it was to see him but in actuality it wasn’t. I came down here with Ryo for one reason. To see you. Ryo’s a bit busy right now with your mom and we can’t afford to waste anymore time with this that’s why I decided I would just tell you myself and make you accept it. I know you and I have never exactly gotten along but at least you’ll be used to it from me rather than your own brother. I’m the bearer of bad news for you anyways.” She said suddenly speeding up in a way that almost made Shun shocked as he reached for his seat belt and buckled himself in. Aya wasn’t buckled in and it looked as if she was used to going on speeds like this with no seat belt.

Aya frowned as she saw heard the click of the seat belt. Jun never put on the seat belt. NEVER. Part of the reason she actually loved riding with him because Ryo was always too much of a wimp to go without the seat belt.

Like brother like brother. What else could she say?

“As much as I’m flattered Aya thank you I don’t really know what you want me to say. I thought you two made this trip so you could boink without people there finding out about it.” Shun bit back. He wanted to find out more about Ryo and Aya and this was the only way he could. By angering her and just listening to whatever angry rant came out of . It wasn’t like Aya was going to come out and start talking about it, to him especially.

“You know I was actually feeling pretty sorry for you before but now I’m not so sure I do feel bad for you Shunny Bunny.” For a moment Aya bit her tongue. Great she started using that damn nickname again. God no it was like she just couldn’t stop herself from returning to thoughts of Jun again.

Well bad luck with that A. cause J’s got a new bunny with him now. Aya could practically hear Gossip Girl’s comments in her head now. She hit herself slightly and the steering wheel swerved making the car move and Shun shriek as he clutched onto the side of the car looking ready to jump out if necessary.

Then he realized she’d used a nickname for him. The nickname. Shun stared at her in shock. She had not called him that. That was what Mao called him. How was it possible that she could have known about the nickname? He looked at her a little dubiously as he reclined his seat. This was too coincidental.

It was scary.

“So what’s the big thing that’s going to make me bawl my eyes out like a little baby?” He mocked trying to make the air in the car just a little bit like it was before but the weirdness still hung in the air but for both of them it was for completely different reasons.

“You sure you want to know darling little brother?”

“Almost as much as I want to know about you and Ryo.” Shun said honestly but Aya laughed out loud and shook her head and the scarf she had tied around her head let her hair loose and it flew all over her face and Shun couldn’t look away from the sight which turned into something quite beautiful oddly enough. Aya was lucky that she had gotten to be so pretty when she grew up. Still he wasn’t still looking at her because of that right.

No of course not!

He was waiting for a response. Yes that was why he was looking at her so intently.

She turned to smile at him and instantly knowing himself all too well he knew he was lying.

“That’s funny Shun. Real funny.” She said swerving again but this time it was worse and around a corner. She sped up and started turning fast like a drifter and Shun felt his lunch move up into his throat.

Oh no. He held onto his stomach as if he was trying to keep him from barfing on the leather lined seats. It stopped suddenly and Aya grinned widely as she pointed to the outside of the car. It gave him time to really look at her.
She was wearing an odd dress that had different shades of silk overlapping on top of each other with crazy patterns.

Almost like her he was reminded that it was indecipherable.

“Why are we here overlooking daytime Tokyo? Which mind you isn’t that pretty.” He said glaring at his sister who had driven extra fast on purpose. He remembered now that she knew well that he had an extremely weak stomach.

“Revenge dahling. Revenge.” She mocked and grinned widely as she grabbed the scarf from the back where it had flown and started tying it back on her head and Shun grabbed her hand and threw the scarf off the small cliff they were on. Aya stared on in shock and immediately pushed his side and he grinned widely at her bewildered face as she saw the piece of silk almost float towards the ground.

“Why’d you do that for you crazy teenager!? That was Hermes! That was worth more than your clothes!” She yelled loudly immediately getting out of the car and Shun was almost tempted to tell her the truth that he hadn’t wanted to see her bouncing curls tied up again like he had before. He wanted to see the real Aya.

Her hair represented that he felt oddly enough. Yes contrary to popular belief he did know how weird and corny he sounded right now. “Revenge dahling. Revenge.” He mocked and grinned sweetly. Aya growled in response sticking her tongue out.

“You have just been pissing me off. I don’t know why I called you out.” Aya said shaking her head as she flipped open her phone. Zero messages, zero missed calls.

What a . This was passing their mark of ten hours in a fight now. That was getting her nervous.

“You obviously missed me like crazy?” Shun supplemented as he got out of the car following his sister. God again with that stupid cell phone, he almost wished he’d thrown that over the cliff instead of a useless scarf.

Thankfully it was as if Aya had read his mind and quickly he saw that she put her phone away and turned to look at him with an almost evil smile gracing her delicate features.

“You wish that was the case Shun. In actuality it’s something completely different my dear onii-chan.” Shun immediately glared at her and rolled his eyes as he set himself down on the ground leaning his back against the back of the convertible staring at his sister with open eyes and almost open arms.

“What is it?” He asked too tired to argue with her on the fact that she was never going to be his sister and if she became related to him he might actually puke.

Aya was almost tempted to join him as he lay there looking as comfortable as could be. Why was it every single time she saw Shun all she was able to see was relaxation? Like there was nothing in his life that would tense him up. He could take everything in stride. If Ryo came out to him right now, in fake-ness of course cause Ryo was not gay, but Shun the Ryo lover would be completely cool with it. It wouldn’t even faze his super complacent attitude.

“I’m really sorry Shun,” She said blinking slowly. This would probably break her little unworried image of Shun she had in her head. He looked at her with the same confused eyes but it didn’t seem like he really cared.

“Why?” He asked. He was completely unknowing to what was the reason for the sudden burst of apologizing. Aya didn’t apologize. She ed and complained and made you feel like apologizing for trying to get her to be a decent human being for once.

Aya looked at him for a second and then shook her head. He had no idea what was coming next.

“Because you’re moving back to New York.”

2:00 PM

Erika stared on at Pi who was exercising on the treadmill as fast as he could. She jogged on beside him silently. “You know you’re going to run out of oxygen soon and go in to Lactate fermentation which will make you feel like you want to stop.”

“Thanks for the advice my little science nerd.” He said grinning widely as he moved the speed up on the treadmill and Erika shook her head. Pi never listened to her and always burnt out by the end while she kept jogging. This was their last class of the day too so it would help if he took it easy. But of course as usual Pi never listened to anyone who wasn’t Toma or himself. He shut up even Megumi to a certain extent. He was as stubborn as- well Kame’s stubborn face.

Kame’s stubborn face was the most gorgeous piece of work she’d seen. No one could have that perfectly arched an eyebrow, and the way his lip almost angrily assaulted the person who was bugging him to a degree that the person would easily give up as Kame’s long lashes would fan out over his eyes making them almost droopy an extent that would make him look evil…like the devil or something.

Which technically Kame was but Erika wasn’t going to let something like that get in her way. What she would let get in her way was a girl name Ayase Haruka and the picture of the two she had shoved in her drawer. She kept thinking about it…even now. She couldn’t help but want to ask him about it. Sure she wasn’t dating him and sure she wasn’t that close with Haruka but the picture almost haunted her thoughts in a way.

So she’d decided last night to get over him…she’d go talk to him. It couldn’t be that hard if she’d spoken to Koyama-kun before. She could do this. Yes she could. In fact she could even succeed with it and find his conversation so boring that she could immediately deduce that he wasn’t worth her affections.

Kind of like Shota wasn’t even worth living in the same city as her.

Beside her she heard Yamapi start gasping for breath and she grinned widely as she kept jogging on trying not to let the smug look of satisfaction reach her face. She could speak somewhat calmly with Yamapi if it concerned their classes or something.

“Told you.” She said softly as he slowed it down to her pace and continued jogging.

“I still don’t know why you’re depressed. You told me nothing. You cheap secret keeping hussy.” He joked rolling his own eyes at his weirdness. Erika shrugged as she heard the girls’ teacher suddenly shriek and the two of them glanced at each other nervously as they slowed down eventually getting off the treadmill and running out of the weight room together and out onto the gym where on top of the green coloured line for badminton courts their teacher was swooning on the floor.

Yamapi furrowed his brow in confusion, which disappeared off his face as he recognized a figure from Blair’s party crew on Sunday.

“Ahh that man.” He said grinning widely shaking his head as Erika looked at him bewildered that Yamapi recognized Koyama. So far as she knew the two hadn’t met yet. Yamapi had no classes with Mao and Koyama hadn’t been following anyone but Mao around.

Which led her to the question as to why he was here…right now…while she was sweating…and probably stinking…and looking horribly unattractive with her hair tied up in a messy bun behind her head. She almost decided to make a run for it when he suddenly turned his eyes towards her and waved.

She lowered her eyes so that she wasn’t making eye contact and started to walk away when Yamapi grabbed her hand and pushed her forward. She turned to him even more puzzled than she was before.

“I enjoy watching your struggles with man kind. I’m talking pure awkwardness here. Go! ! Entertain!” He grinned madly as Koyama neared Erika and Yamapi leaned back against the wall of the gym choosing to quietly watch the scenario that would inevitably play out in front of them. He was half expecting Erika to turn around and glare at him but she stayed rooted to her spot almost frozen in a trance in pure Erika fashion.

Besides even if she glared it would just come out looking irritated he bet.

“Toda-san! You didn’t tell me you knew Keiichiro-kun!”

Keiichiro? What the- Erika couldn’t even fathom there being another Koyama in her world at the moment. This flirty one was enough for her to handle considering she never really handled flirting well.

“So…can I borrow Erika for a minute from the class then?” He asked the teacher who seemed to almost faint at the sight of his charming teeth. Erika could note easily that yes his smile was of absolute perfection. Koyama noted it as the bane of his existence for three years as the perfection was a by-product of his three-year lonely life in braces. That was actually how he got to know Uchi and Ryo as more of a friend than a brother well. They took him in as if he was their own kind and since Uchi’s dad was a major figure in Disney and Uchi didn’t want to be a Disney kid they’d pushed Koyama into his place for the audition.

And he surprisingly got into it without any trouble at all considering he had no prior training in singing, acting or hanging around with girls like Lindsay Lohan who occasionally took an interest in Ryo.

Just like all the other girls in the world but Erika wouldn’t he thought looking at her. She didn’t seem to look like the type of girl who would enjoy being in Ryo’s somewhat stoic presence. He kept to himself almost entirely until you pestered him enough to open up and it seemed too much like Erika was this type of person so she wouldn’t even bother pestering anyone else.

“Borrow for what?” The teacher asked being completely defensive. She turned to glare at Erika who backed away slightly her head bowed down still. She hated being in positions like this. It wasn’t even as if she had really done something to the teacher.

“It’s okay I’ll just go back to exercising with Pi-chan.” She said softly and started walking away again back towards Pi who was giving her the same smug look she’d held back when they’d been exercising.

Suddenly she felt herself pulled back. She found her head being tilted up and she was looking into Koyama’s eyes again. “Is that your boyfriend?” He asked honestly and behind them Pi immediately shrieked and fell onto the floor in a fake seizure of pain.

“NEVER!” Pi yelled and Erika burst out laughing at the sight. Seriously you could never tell how that boy was going to act. He would either be completely quiet or so friendly it was scary. Slowly a girl came in from the change room and immediately her eyes widened as she looked at Pi who was on the floor in pain.

“Pi!” She yelled out and ran towards him as if he really was experiencing the pain. He stopped immediately and furrowed his eyebrow at the girl shaking his head.

“Yui- god. Please don’t even tell me what you’re doing here.” He said shaking his head and looking as if he was about to cry as Yui hugged him in front of the rest of the class without any reservations.

“I missed you so much.” She said in English as if trying to keep something private but that was in complete vain.

Everyone in Eitoku, except for perhaps Mao, was quite fluent in English seeing as they all came from schools where getting good grades in the subject was highly enforced.

“Oi! You. Get the hell out. This is supposed to be my flirting period. I’ll deal with you later.” Koyama suddenly spoke out at the girl putting his head in his hands and Yui turned to look at him and suddenly Erika was able to recognize her. Yesterday she’d been the one who had accused Mao of hanging of Pi all the time!

“Ugh please...you don’t even belong in this school whoever you are. I actually joined…so Mr. Nobody you get out of this gym.” She said shaking her head because she truly didn’t know who he was. However she had no idea that Koyama had quite a complex when it came to people knowing who he was and treating him like perfection. It wasn’t at all like one of those dramas where the insult suddenly caused his heart to pump nervously and he found himself falling in love with the girl…no…Koyama wanted to throttle her for discarding his presence as if it was nothing important.

“Mr. Nobody? WHOEVER I AM? I WAS IN HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL ! WHO THE HELL ARE YOU?” Koyama burst out in anger shaking his head and Erika flinched as she put a hand on Koyama’s shoulder and he broke out of his angry gaze to look at her with much kinder eyes. Behind them they could hear a small yelp of approval from the teacher who stared at Koyama steamily, Koyama decided to ignore her.

“Ah…gomen ne Erika-chan. Let’s just go. Sorry about that messing with your boyfriend.” He said shaking his head as all three Pi, Erika, and the ‘’ Yui stared on with open mouths all thinking things along the same lines.

As Koyama dragged her out of the gym in her sweaty attire she offered Yamapi a doubtful look and he shook his head as if reassuring her that he had nothing with Yui in the way that Yui was insinuating. If he did Megumi would surely murder him.

And Yui.

And then Erika cause let’s face it. Killing two people wouldn’t be enough for a girl like Megumi and out of all of the girls in their crew Erika was probably the easiest target for anyone.

Erika felt the cold wind hit her sweaty spots and closed up. Like she really needed those ‘fragrances’ spreading around her…and Koyama.

Hazukashi!

“And so my life gets somehow more embarrassing and ed up yet again.” She muttered under her breath. She’d been swearing a lot more often nowadays too. She couldn’t help but wonder if it was cause of the whole Kame/Haruka thing. God she’d even done the slash thing that fan girls did in their mind.

Except she was so not a fan girl. She was an anti fan!

“I’m kind of glad you came Koyama-kun.” She huffed out remembering Toma’s words yesterday night.

“Really?” He asked a bright smile came on his face and Erika almost felt guilty. Such a cute adorable guy who was even able to make her faint! Hell he was making her blush as they were speaking. She was even feeling that knot building up in , the one that arose whenever a cute guy acknowledged her somewhat uncute presence.

“Cause I needed to tell you something.” She admitted sounding somewhat choked as she fought against the knot her tongue had turned into. It flopped around like a useless muscle.

Koyama if possible stretched his smile even farther up almost to his ears. It reminded her very much of the mischievous cat from Alice in Wonderland.

Except Koyama was so much nicer that she was feeling almost guilty for what she was about to tell him. He’d probably taken a bit of a liking to her. Well…that was what Cosmo would say about his actions anyways and Erika had complete faith in the journalists that reported on this topic in Cosmo.

Cause Cosmo is like god in a magazine. Still she had no idea what he had seen in her that he had taken a shine to her in such a short period of time.

“Pi is not my boyfriend. In fact I’m single…super single.” She coughed out pausing to take a breath.

“Good news for me cause I was kind of planning on asking you out.” He interrupted her and put his arm around her shoulders and Erika immediately started coughing as she tried to pull herself apart from him. As she finally managed it he stared at her with a somewhat befuddled expression as she stood letting deep breaths escape from before she looked up and bowed down in apology.

“I can’t like you Koyama-kun and I can’t date someone I can never like.” She yelled out loud as Koyama almost laughed out at the weirdest situation he’d ever been presented with. Sure he’d been rejected, he wasn’t that popular either, that was Zac but he’d never been rejected so harshly in such a naïve way. It was new.

“Talk about callous.” He grinned widely and Erika looked up from her bangs and slowly pulled her upper body up but kept her head bowed down.

“So why can you NEVER like me?” He mocked her. That was the only way he knew how to keep himself from feeling hurt. “You like someone else and you’re afraid that if he sees you with me that he won’t want to date you any longer?” Just like all the other girls she had impure intentions. He didn’t blame her. He’d be a bit like her himself if he had the chance to be with Rosa but that was only reserved for her boyfriend Shota. He’d never actually met the dude but Rosa had told him about Shota when she’d rejected Koyama and then assured him that if she was free she would have gone out with him.

She was a liar too. Like all other women.

She understood what men wanted to hear to a certain extent and perhaps that was why he liked Erika…cause she was the complete opposite of Rosa.

“That’s absolutely not it!” She yelled out loud blushing as if she was angry but really she was probably still embarrassed. He decided to watch her in the uncomfortable position. She really was delightful to observe in frenzy and every so often he could swear he’d see one of her long strands jump up in stress.

“I couldn’t do that to someone like Koyama-kun cause he’s so nice! He deserves a really good girl who can give him all of her heart, love him with everything in it. Toma-kun told me to date someone and just try it out to get over Kamenashi-sama,”

Sama?! Holy...talk about a little servile for a guy who couldn’t be much older than them he couldn’t help but think.

“But I could never do that to Koyama-kun seeing as he was so nice to me and he brought me back to my room and he didn’t really mock me that much and I even felt kind of good beside him and I NEVER feel good beside guys. Like the friend good or even the potential like good but I cannot like you because my heart completely belongs to someone else and it would be wrong so-“ Koyama was almost tempted to shut her up with his lips but he couldn’t do that to this poor girl. She’d die of fright. So he settled for clamping a hand over and her eyes started looking as if she was about to faint from the contact.

She either talked too much or too little. There was really no normal halfway for this girl of extremes.

He was almost tempted to get angry with her and watch her expression but he couldn’t he realized. Perhaps it was because like a truly gentle girl she’d crushed his growing emotions before they were in full ‘bloom’ as Mao might say. He slowly removed his hand from Erika’s mouth and smiled at her.

Perhaps if Rosa hadn’t ignored his feelings he wouldn’t have felt so horrible for so long, and still have these lingering sensations for her.

“Erika-chan, I understand how you feel. You don’t need to explain yourself to me. I was teasing you. I don’t mind being rejected. I figure the reason you aren’t with your beloved Kamenashi-sama right now is because you have trouble with guys right?” He asked softly and Erika nodded silently still feeling the guilt of rejecting someone who could have potentially opened her up, someone who was so good for her.

“How about this? I’m not here for much longer. I guess I’d like another friend in this town besides my sister and Shun who’s really not much fun at all by the way,” He saw a small crack of a smile and grinned down at her.

“Wanna work on getting you friendlier with guys and with your beloved Kamenashi-sama?” What the hell was he doing? Mao was going to kill him. He would kill him! You didn’t make the girl you wanted to date end up dating someone else!
But what was the point anyways? Erika lived uberly far away and the most that would end up happening is that Koyama and her would have had a short-lived fling and after that he’d find someone new in America to play around with. Rather he’d like to help someone for once. Sure it wasn’t like he was in the peace corps helping to end world hunger but the smile on her face would be the same happy one as that of an African child he bet.

“Absolutely not.” She said completely serious as she started walking away and Koyama looked at her, jaw on the floor. She better not have some cute excuse for this as well. He’d end up falling for it. So it better not be cute and she better not completely make herself look like a fool cause that would just make him want to cuddle her.

He wanted to cuddle a girl…how unmanly of him. Koyama almost cried at the way this girl made him feel. It was atrocious really to have such pure hearted emotions and be a man at the same time.

“Why the hell not?” He asked as he raced up to catch behind her as she raced forward trying to ditch him. She felt bad enough and seeing Koyama-kun trying to help her with a pointless case was just the end of the straw for her.

Weren’t guys supposed to get all y? She’d thought someone who was Mao’s twin brother surely would.

“Why the hell not!?” Oh there was the y yell. This sounded more Mao-esque for sure.

She turned around a completely serious expression on her face as she felt her tongue muscle stop working again and she couldn’t talk. Ahh she hated her body’s stupid reactions. After much struggle for seconds, in which Koyama was patient because he realized what was happening to Erika, she sputtered out. “Because he’s already in love with someone and I have proof of it lying in my drawer. I’m not a stalker! But I saw this picture on the ground and-“ She felt a hand clamp on and stop her and Koyama grinned widely.

“I’m getting better at figuring out when you’re talking too much for your own good.” He joked and Erika rolled her eyes surprisingly and walked away. Wow…other than Shota she’d never done that with anyone. She couldn’t help but smile a little. That was some real progress.

“So let’s start there Rika-chan!” Koyama yelled loudly and Erika turned her head to stare at him with her eyes not bothering to speak because she knew her tongue had gone slack again in the presence of the absolutely cute boy in front of her.

“Let’s find out if he’s really in love with someone or if you’re thinking and talking too much again…and if he really is in love with someone else well you can start your road to recovery with me neh? I don’t mind being used at all!” Koyama said completely seriously as he grabbed onto her hand and Erika flushed bright red as she stared at him wide-eyed and pulled her hand back as she raced forward.

“BAKA!” She yelled and Koyama laughed. He had no idea how hard it had been for her to sputter out the one word to him and how special he was to even get a glance at her somewhat mean side.

“Where are you going?!” He yelled out to her putting his hands over his mouth to amplify the sound. She gulped the knot and felt the butterflies start fluttering in her tummy as she meekly turned around, ran to him, and finally grabbed the fabric of his shirt pulling him forward.

“The boy’s dorms!” She stammered and Koyama grinned widely ruffling her hair.

“I would agree but I have to tell you something that I’ve been refraining from saying until now.” He said deeply and Erika jumped back almost afraid looking at him with wide eyes.

“What?” She asked the lines of curiosity springing up around her features as he beamed at her.

“There are some fairly unpleasant odours coming from that uniform of yours. So shall we head the other way instead milady?” He said so politely she had to actually think if he was insulting her or not.

“Koyama-kun!” She wheezed nervously as she ran towards the girl dorms and Koyama raced after her grinning widely.

Well…at least they could be friends right?
