A Dance in the Dark and Shun's Sparked

Third Time's The Charm
Highly recommended you hear Please Don't Stop the Music by Rihanna right now ^.^ This scene below was written while listening to it constantly and thought of at the same time. This chapter's extra long so bare with me ^.^

Eventually however Maki realized that she wasn’t feeling it, she was sure as hell enjoying it but she wasn’t feeling it.

Please Don’t Stop the Music
Music Music Music

She heard Rihanna’s voice vertebrate throughout the club. She yelled loudly like a girl, quite obviously breaking their latest 'leaning-against-the-bar' kiss. Just then Yamapi and Megumi came back to see that Shun was holding onto his ear glaring at Maki.

“MAKI! You just totally killed my ear. You .” Quite obviously now he was acting like a little kid seeing as how he was drunk and that was how Shun acted drunk, like a little kid. Maki realized she was repeating her thoughts and at least deduced that she didn't act as lame as him when he was drunk.

“We’re in a club with loud music that’s practically right in your ear and I killed your ear? Sure Shun suree.” She said sarcastically slurring her words, glaring at Shun and finally turning away from him her arms wrapped up in a defiant stance. She saw the couple of the night coming over to join them once more.

“Welcome back! Enjoying the fight?” She said unable to help her words. She felt like she needed to at being a girlfriend, particularly Shun's, right now.

Just then Shun stuck his tongue out as she turned around to face him and Maki defiantly glared back, which wasn’t something she usually did when he stuck his tongue out.

She left Shun hanging with his tongue out, and he didn’t pull it back partially because of the fact that he was drunk and was in no way coherent of exactly what he was doing.

“I’m not going to get that you know. I know its our peace offering but I don’t want your stupid kisses. I’m going alone dancing. BLEACH YOU!” She said and headed out not exactly understanding what she'd just said. Yes she’d had another shot or two and that had definitely gone to her head.

Megumi looked after her friend as she disappeared into the crowd and looked at Yamapi, who shrugged back uselessly as he thanked the lord he didn’t have a girlfriend like Maki.

At the moment he was still denying he felt any jolt in his chest area when she’d walked into the room before.

“Neh..Yamapi…you know that girl’ll get seriously harassed, if not worse, if she goes in there alone. She’s never danced to hip-hop like this before, at least thats what I know. She doesn’t really visit clubs with us unless its Toma-kun who asks her to come along or Mao.” She said in her serious, for once sober, voice.

“Honto?” Yamapi asked a teasing grin gracing his face as Megumi nodded foolishly and kissed him and gave him the puppy dog eyes.

“Mao will kill me if anything happened to Maki.”

“Not to mention Toma would kill me.” Yamapi whispered letting slip something, oh yes he knew about Toma’s ginormous crush on Maki and had often told Toma that it disgusted him but of course he wasn’t meant to say that in front of Megumi. She looked at him and it seemed as if something had click in her head so he quickly moved away from her and dragged Shun to a corner.

“Oi Shun, you should go make up with her, I bet she’s waiting for you, dancing on that floor waiting for you to come up behind her.” Yamapi said this fully convinced of his words as he saw the drunk Shun stammer a little bit and nod.

“Of course of course…but Maki…sometimes you know...” He proceeded to make a movement with two hands, which might have represented choking, but at the moment it looked more like making a pot in pottery class because it was common knowledge that Shun couldn’t hold his liquor and his actions were severely damaged when he was drunk.

“So go on ahead ! She’s waiting and you don’t want her to get all…harassed by other guys I mean you are her boyfriend.” He said as if he had to reinforce Shun’s role himself. Then again it wasn’t the first time he was sober and someone else was drunk as hell and he had to explain something. In fact he often explained things to drunk people back in London.

“Of course! COURSE!” Shun yelled as he started to disappear in the crowd but Yamapi saw him stop and glance at his cell and immediately his posture straightened up and Yamapi gazed at Shun trying to figure out why he’d stopped now.

Shun walked back to him his voice sounding less drunk and more sober now.

“Oh um..I have to take this call. It’s my stepsister. She must be calling me for something important. Pi can you just go get her? I don’t really want to see her anyways.” Shun said as he quickly started off leaving Yamapi with no choice but to save Maki from the erted males in the club who would definitely take interest in a young girl with Maki’s looks and body.

But he wouldn’t think about her looks, or her body…as of 11:59 that night he could think only of one girl’s body and looks.

He’d never been good at that. For a moment Masami’s face arose from his memory and he wondered how she was doing in Florence for a second before shaking his head starting towards to meet his present girlfriend hoping that thoughts of his only ex would fade away.

He went back to Megumi and told her the details and of course she ushered him off but not without looking at him curiously as if trying to figure out his earlier comment on Toma. Whether to take it seriously or not.

It was actually quite easy to find Maki swaying to the music. For some reason the very moment he found her Yamapi decided to stand there and stare at her. For once, she truly looked like that stick she had up her was gone and she was free. She seemed to moved far differently than she talked. Her voice gave off an image of boredom, and meaningless manners but as Yamapi watched her move she was moving exactly like girls he would often want. She swayed and moved her hips perfectly and she was doing exactly what the song was telling her to do. Shake her stress away. He couldn’t help but think that she did it rather beautifully even though usually there was nothing beautiful about hip-hop. It was dirty and ual but she made it look graceful he noted again as he observed her hair shade her face from his view again.

He stood there for a couple of seconds watching her shake her hair out of her face. Diverting his attention he then saw that he wasn’t the only one staring at the far different Maki in front of him. She was rather good at attracting the attention of the on looking men who were quite obviously with other women on the dance floor. As he saw them start edging closer towards the along Maki he, almost protectively, started towards her and prodded her back anxiously, he was afraid to make contact with this different woman in front of him, to get her out of here quicker would leave him less room to make a stupid mistake.

But of course things never worked the way Yamapi wanted them to and he found himself cursing the woman as she started dancing with him instead of turning around like a normal girl and almost ominously the lights of the club dimmed down some more.

She moved her hips rather well he noticed, provocatively but she didn’t do too much so as to leave things to the imagination of course as a proper lady should but she gave you enough to survive and keep dreaming of her. He was suddenly reminded of words Toma had used to describe Maki before she was like a drug; you needed more of her in larger doses if you wanted to survive on this sort of high she gave you.

Yamapi swallowed slowly as his own hips, previously motionless, started moving along to the rhythm of the song and he found himself leaning in close to her neck and resting his head there and he felt her arms wrap around him so that there was barely any distance between them as she started to grind with him as if this was a normal occurrence for her, which he was sure it wasn’t because Megumi had revealed to him that she didn’t dance like this often.

Then Maki proved she was not as stupid as her boyfriend when they were drunk.

“Yamapi-kun, I like you,” She said and she felt her heart speed up at the immensely stupid words that left her lips. “a little.” She added quickly hoping it had come out sounding like it was part of the original sentence. Yamapi almost stopped moving as she stopped and confessed her, what might have been nonexistent before, feelings . She was sure that there was no doubt that he’d heard her because he was so close to her lips .

Yamapi’s thoughts however were a million questions all ringing with red flags on them signifying them all as very important: When had she realized it was he here and not Shun? Had she always known? Was she too drunk and not thinking? She’d been nothing but disapproving of him and he’d been nothing but disapproving of her. So where had this sudden revelation come from? Why weren’t his harsh words of rejection able to make it out of his throat?

Then she turned around slowly, her drunken body almost wobbling slightly. He wouldn’t doubt that it might be her first time drinking, and for a first timer by the glasses he’d seen on the bar before she was quite impressively holding her alcohol. Much more impressive than her boyfriend.

Maki noticed his stoic expression, his eyes that were trying to look deep within her and then she looked down at his hands which were edging towards her waist and suddenly she found herself pulled closer to him, in a sort of affectionate embrace. So the shocked Maki and the somewhat confused Yamapi started dancing face to face, every sinful move they made was done so with full knowledge on Yamapi’s part and on Maki’s part but she could easily not face the consequences were they found now. She could frame her drunken state for her irrational actions.

Yamapi realized he couldn’t help liking her a little; she was far too perfect not to appreciate and fawn after. Having her admit that she liked him first had made her even more so irresistible to him. He felt her breaths get louder as if she was afraid of something and suddenly Yamapi felt the need to give her something to be afraid of.

Of course she liked him, what girl didn’t? Though Yamapi knew he shouldn’t have been pulling her into a sort of embrace and dancing with her like this. He knew he was betraying the both of them, his old friend and his new friend, and quite obviously his girlfriend he remembered.

He mused silently in his head that it was almost impossible to stay away from her if she wanted you…if she was close to you like this. If she was vulnerable and desirable like this. He found his head moving closer to her lips and Maki found her own head moving upwards and just as she’d reached her tallest standing on the very tips of her toes delicately in her ballet flats he pulled away and she opened her eyes surprised as she had expected the warmth of his lips on hers.

She hadn’t expected this cold that had suddenly enveloped her as he left her hand, she could hear his breathing. It was ragged, and lustful, almost animalistic in a manner as if he would want nothing better but to get back to what he had almost started.

Yamapi had always been a cheater, that was nothing new but he’d promised himself he’d give Megumi the pleasure of having a boyfriend that wouldn’t cheat on her, at least for a week. He wanted Megumi to be different from Masami. He was shocked to find that he wanted her to last.

And Maki was obviously just a distraction from this, he decided fakely. He didn’t want Maki, he lied to himself, he didn’t even like her all that much as he liked Megumi, this might not be a lie. She was just a way for him to run away from his commitments, also may not be a lie.

He wouldn’t hurt Megumi, Shun, Maki and Toma just to run away from his commitments.

Obviously his mind was playing tricks on him again, he thought unwillingly as he glanced at Maki’s collarbone which had light sweat beads forming on it and he gulped slightly as he pushed her away suddenly trying to get her even farther away from him. However, surprised he was to find that Maki had been holding onto his sleeve tightly and so she was holding onto him and he turned around to almost see a silent plea in her eyes to not leave.

Yamapi couldn’t answer her plea though he realized as he gulped the slight knot that was building in his throat. So he quickly grabbed her hand and dragged her back with himself so they wouldn’t do anything foolish among the crowds where they were both practically anonymous and significant other free.

How perfect was it that the moment he exited the sweaty crowds that he saw Megumi’s smiling face and swallowed the knot that was starting to form in his throat again unable to stare at it for long.

“Yamapi! I knew you could bring her back.” And as he saw Megumi head towards him he felt his hand loosen its own grip on Maki’s and reach out to hug Megumi back but he was shocked to find that he could only hug Megumi with one arm.

He realized that even though she was so close that he couldn’t see the hidden gesture of want Maki’s hand hadn’t stopped holding his sleeve tightly the whole time. She’d almost known reflexively that he would want to leave her soon and had kept a tight hold on him.

(A/N: Start listening to Coldplay's Speed of Sound)
How long before you decide…before I know what it feels like

And as Speed of Sound by Coldplay started Yamapi sighed deeply relaxing most of himself in Megumi’s arms but he couldn’t help but tightly grasp Maki’s hand. Unable to stare at her for long but he still seeked out the passionate adrenaline feeling that Maki for some reason brought him through just a grasp of his hand

How was it that his life had gotten so utterly complicated to this extent in the duration of exactly three songs?

But if he was truthful he would say it had been complicated the moment Maki had walked into the lounge during the later hours of yesterday. The moment she’d stepped in for some reason his world had started centering in on her.

He presumed it was because he had already known that today he would start to be Megumi’s.

Perhaps he’d wanted a way out.

But why on earth had Maki started liking him? She was supposed to have been a safe target to use as a desirable unattainable object to fantasize about when he got bored of his girlfriend.

She was never meant to want him.

Though she did…and he wasn’t even sure how that happened…he hadn’t been nice to her. He’d treated her like he treated most girls that he didn’t like, like total crap.

She liked him…even so?

It didn’t make sense.

And then he realized quietly in his head as he felt Maki wobble a little and reach out for the counter leaving his hand as she saw someone who looked like Shun pass by, Maki was drunk.

She didn’t like him at all…she was just drunk and doing stupid things. She was taking advantage of the odd feeling being drunk gives you.

For some reason Yamapi found that fact to hurt more so than the fact that he wouldn’t be able to have her.

And just like that his demeanor towards her changed again. He refused to believe that Maki had actually wanted him.

Though he didn’t know this Maki refused to believe that Yamapi didn’t want her, which was exactly the reason as she sat down on the stool that Yamapi was sitting near she, pushed her hand back into his and Megumi who was sitting on his other side couldn’t see that they were holding hands lower below.

Yamapi found himself instinctively tightening his grip on her hand, unable to loosen his grip.

As if he was almost afraid that she would change her mind, realizing how dumb a move she’d made in her drunken state.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jun was a boy at the moment, and thank god. He didn’t want to be discovered but he didn’t want to be a girl in a club being asked to dance by guys just yet. He’d gotten bombarded with offers the moment he’d walked in…and he’d quickly slipped into the men’s washroom and changed into the spare clothes he’d somehow been able to slip in.

He looked at the bartender across him and saw that her face was extremely young for her age.

“How old are you?” He asked her feeling a sudden surge of curiosity. He saw her give him a glare as if she didn’t trust him enough to answer that question seriously before finally turning away to go complete someone else’s order.

Oh well that was fabulous, Jun noted as he glanced at the great friendly environment of the club.

How was he supposed to respect girls when they acted like that? How could his mom even expect him to?

They thought they were so superior to the male specimen. Well not really! Men had fought wars over them.

Wars, meaning many people had died over the fact that some dumb woman loved a dumb man but the woman had prior commitments to another man and she didn’t want to hold up to her word.

So people died because the woman wanted to be with one person over the other. Whole empires had fallen because of this.

Of course he was talking of Helen of Troy and he didn’t particularly like that story and he’d often used it as prime reason to hate women.

He watched the young girl bartender serve drinks to everyone and then she came back to him and answered his question from before. She had a look of passion on her face and one, which clearly said she was not finding his company amiable.

“I’m fifteen, and quite obviously homeless, and I’m not going to high school. I am also in no mood to hear about your sad pathetic life, which is actually filled with happy things. You have your health, you have your huge amounts of money cause otherwise they wouldn’t let you into this club, and you have your girlfriend who probably got mad because you didn’t pay attention to her. So don’t come to me looking for a great old whining session cause I’m not one of those bartenders.” She said a distinct angry look on her face that Jun found kind of cute. She then started to walk away when Jun suddenly had the desire to call out to her again.

“Oi bartender!” He said quickly staring at her and then she looked at him in a way, which clearly asked him to stop talking to her unless he wanted another drink. He fought through the massive crowd that was trying to reach through to her to place an order for their drinks.

Finally he was in front of the girl who was a year younger than him but looked at least three years younger than him.

“When do you get off?” He asked her and she suddenly looked as if she just realized that she didn’t have to work the whole night. She glanced up at the clock that was on the top of the ceiling of the bar so that people wouldn’t be able to see the time unless it was the bartender.

“I’m actually off in about five minutes. It’s almost 2 o’clock.” She said smiling happily, probably at the thought of leaving all these drunken people and getting home to a nice cozy bed. Jun couldn’t help but smile back at how babyish she looked. She was a contrast to the average person in the club.

“Wanna talk about rough days over the only cheap coffee the shop across the street that’s open will offer?” He asked her seriously and she bit her lip as if she was afraid that he was going to molest her in a dark alleyway near the club and he quickly showed a look of fear on his face.

“I’m not that type of guy. I’m not even interested in you I swear…it’s just. I need to talk and you look like you need to talk and…dear Sawajiri-san,” He said squinting to glance at her nametag. “We look like we could talk together.” He said and she doubtfully nodded her head and looked up.

“Wait for me at the corner of the bar all right?” She said and then disappeared behind the bar doors, presumably to change.

She came out as promised and they walked slowly to the coffee shop across the street.

“I’m Jun by the way.” He said and Sawajiri looked at him with her wide brown eyes and nodded.

“I’m Erika…just call me that. I can’t stand people using my last name. I have nothing in common with those s that share my name.” She said letting her walls relax a little, as Jun had still not tried to molest her.

They entered the coffee shop and Jun offered the lame looking cappuccino and Erika shook her head insistently that she didn’t need coffee but Jun bought her a cappuccino as well and shoved the warm drink into her hands and she looked up at him as if she was afraid there would be some sort of payment if she accepted Jun’s kind coffee drink.

“Drink up…I promise I haven’t put anything in it. Straight from the counter and into your hands.” He said showing her his palm as if he was swearing by something and Erika cracked a small smile as she nodded and to show her appreciation for the warm drink she sipped it.

They stepped out the door so they could sit on the stairs leading into the store.

Finally comfortable Jun started off sensing that the girl wouldn’t get anything off her chest unless he started. She seemed to be that type of female.

“I’m one of the biggest heirs to Matsumoto corp.” He decided to lay everything out for the young girl.

“Oh so sad. I’m an heir who’s one day going to live in one of the biggest houses in the world.” She said skeptically and Jun glared at her.

“You know technically I’m your senpai and you should respect me as I pour my heart out to you.” He said jokingly serious and she grinned at him weakly and shook her head as if rejecting the thought of a guy like Jun even being her senpai.

“If only I believed in senpai-kouhai relationships but I don’t. You are just another person to me Jun. albeit a really odd one. You’ve managed to make a somewhat okay impression in my mind.”

“I hate women,” He said and Erika glanced at him with an eyebrow raised and Jun couldn’t help but notice how different the two Erika’s he’d met today were.

“That’s such a pleasure to know. I think that good impression of you flew out the window right there. I knew I shouldn’t have come out with you. You’ll probably me won’t you?” She said starting to stand up and getting her purse ready as if she had experience in this. Jun looked at her almost afraid.

“OI! Who do you think I am I don’t do that type of thing to girls eh?! Sit back down dumb !” He said grabbing her hand and pulling her back down beside him but she still held her purse tightly in her hand ready to swing at Jun if and ever he decided to try something with her.

Jun furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. This girl was so untrusting!

“You tortured rich men think you can do anything right? Won’t get in trouble at all. No trouble whatsoever, after all you have all the power in Japan. Who would listen to a little girl who’s only ten?” She said bitingly and then Jun had the instant urge to ask her what on earth she was talking about.

She swallowed a little and shook her head furiously as if to shake out an unpleasant thought and Jun relaxed his I-hate-women stance a little so that she wouldn’t start remembering what looked to be a traumatizing thought.

“My mom’s making me pretend to be a girl.” He said suddenly and Erika, breaking her stoic and angry stance, suddenly burst out laughing immediately unable to stop for at least five minutes he noted as he glanced at his watch repeatedly. He was almost happy he was making this girl who looked like a twelve year old laugh.

“Oh wow…OH wow….I haven’t laughed like that in ages Jun-chan. I believe you just might be one of the few people in the world that can make me laugh like that! Let me get this straight. You a very rich boy, who hates women, is being made to pretend to be a woman. Oh this is rich. I should run to the tabloids right now shouldn’t I?” Erika said threateningly but making no move to get up.

“I almost wish you would. I started my first day as a girl today. I was hugged by males far too tightly, caught squeezing my fake s, and I’m rooming with a girl who repeatedly calls me ugly. Still think my life is great?” He asked challengingly and then Erika shrugged uselessly.

“All I know is it can’t be worse than mine Jun-chan. You get to pretend to be a cute girl. I’m stuck actually being one, one who’s quite helpless really. She looks strong but she’s far too fragile inside.”

“Oh and now we’re talking in a third person point of view. How darling.” He said mocking her and she shrugged.

“Well…maybe one day I’ll tell you Jun-chan. Until then I’m going home I have an early start tomorrow.” Erika said and Jun immediately stood up holding out his hand so that she could get up easier but Erika glanced at it and stood up herself. He found that their talk had finished far too quickly. He glanced down at the coffee in his hands and realized he also found that this cheap coffee had gone cold far too quickly as well.

“Gomen ne, I don’t usually take help from strangers.” She said and started walking away.

“I’ll walk you home!” He yelled and Erika glanced at him and quickly shook her head.

“No need Jun-chan. See you around maybe. If you need to let go off some stress I guess its okay to come meet me out at the club. Thanks for talking.” She said and Jun stared after her slowly disappearing figure before decidedly turning around to find a spot to change back into a woman before disappearing himself and heading back to Eitoku himself, thoughts filled with Erika S., and how different she was from Erika T.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

Shun ran out of the club and immediately clicked the talk button as he saw Aya’s name flash on the screen.

“Hello?” He said finally hearing his stepsister’s voice on the other line.

“Shun hello?” For once Aya was talking properly; Jun would have asked Shun his secret formula to making Aya talk like a normal person but of course Shun and Jun still didn’t know about their common relation Aya-chan.

“Yeah it’s me why are you calling?” He asked annoyed. He didn’t like his stepsister or her mother or anyone else that wasn’t in his former family, not to mention he thought of her as one of the biggest s possible seeing as how she had knowingly seduced his brother, Ryo.

“Can’t a girl call up her stepbrother who lives at least 5000 miles away from her to see how he’s doing?”

“Cut the crap Aya you haven’t called me in a year at least. Did anything happen to Onii-san?” He asked and Aya sighed into the phone and Shun looked back at the door, which would lead him into the club again.

“I’m busy Aya all right so just tell me what on earth it is you want right now?” He said this with a distinct impatience in his voice even though he was in no mood to get back to Maki. She was confusing him far too much for his liking recently and Shun had never exactly worked well with confusion. He’d liked things to be clear, and concise, he liked confusing people himself but when it came down to people confusing him he’d sooner leave them than solve the ever-complicating problem that they usually tended to present in front of him.

“All right Shun-nii, you better listen up then and you better not complain cause this is going to be short…and not quite so sweet. Daddy dearest has had enough of your bull on how you have so much of a life that you can’t come over to visit your dear family here in New York.”

“Don’t you dare try even using that word to associate me with you. You will never be my sister. My mom is my family. I have no obligation to come meet that of a father Aya,”

“Yeah I know but apparently he’s getting tired of making up excuses as to why you are never present on the social scene and now people here are starting to think you must be a druggie in rehab or something. So you have to come be presentable and show off your face as the heir to the Japanese offices of Shueto. I have no idea why he’s making me call you when he could call you himself.” She said and he heard a noise in the background that sounded faintly like Ryo. He brightened up at the thought of getting to talk to his older brother.

“Is Nii there with you?” He asked immediately disregarding her unspoken question.

“I don’t know Shun-channn will you finally come to New York and see your younger sister that you haven’t seen in almost 6 years?”

“Of course not Aya!” He said in the fakest sweetest voice possible. Things stung that much more when you were kind about them. “You know I hate you from the bottom of my heart and you aren’t my younger sister. You are someone in my family. Someone I don’t like shall I make that even more clear? I will never ever treat you like a sister.”

“Yeah well its not like I like talking to you either. Just ing show up cause I’ll have to call you again otherwise got it mofo? Oh yeah Ryo isn’t here so you can go stop being such a up to him too. He thinks you’re too much of a pain to take care of. Better come to New York got it druggie?” She said quickly and hung up on him before he had a chance to reply or banter with her further. At the end Shun could hear her distinct American accent coming into play.

Shun really hated Aya. Ever since the first time he’d seen her when his mother had sent him off to New York to spend the summer with his new family.

It had been two years since Ryo’s departure back then and a year since Shun’s own father’s marriage, a marriage to Ueto Shigure, who already had a daughter of her own the age of Shun.

Shun had been extremely nervous seeing as how this would be the first time he would see his new ‘mom’ and ‘sister’.

As he walked into the club he was reminded of walking into their Park Avenue House in New York with lace wallpaper and the picture perfect family sitting there sipping tea and discussing world issues. His own father and his ‘new’ mother were talking fast about how Mrs. Bishop was planning the latest charity event and then Shun saw his brother. He had been waiting to see his brother for such a long time.

Ryo had been his mentor, his god almost in a way. Shun did everything his brother told him. Shun had always been a very jealous child. So when Ryo didn’t run and hug his younger brother the moment he’d stepped into the room Shun immediately started hating the current companion of his brother.

A little delicate girl who seemed to look so much younger than Shun…or was it that Shun felt older suddenly? He wasn’t sure…perhaps he felt like he was old news and this girl was taking his place in this picture perfect family.

He started hating her, and with her he started hating his stepmother.

He even remembered how she’d come up to him shyly tagging along with Ryo who had noticed his brother’s presence in the room only after Shun’s ‘new’ mother had announced it.

Ryo hadn’t even hugged him, he’d edged Aya along and tutored her to put her hand out politely and greet Shun.

“I’m Aya. You are Shun! I’m your sister!”

Shun had been shocked at her lack of manners! She’d started using his first name already?! Without even adding the –san at the end! What a rude girl! Even if she was to be his sister...it just wasn't done!

But this seemed to be a normal occurrence because then Shun remembered noticing that Ryo laughed at his expression and his father and his new mom started laughing as well and then so did Aya.

Though they hadn’t meant to make Shun feel small and insignificant they had. Shun had spent the rest of his summer brooding in his room only making friends with the odd little boy who seemed to stalk Aya. Shun had tried to convince him that Aya was a mean girl but of course the boy had thought that the sun rose and set with Aya, which was exactly why they hadn’t stayed in touch and why Shun couldn’t remember his name today.

It was a stupid reason to hate Aya Ueto but it hadn’t stopped there, the whole time she made him feel unwelcome. She took away the company of his only brother whom he hadn’t seen in two years, she laughed every time she saw him and didn’t bother talking to him.

One night he remembered well overhearing her talking to her friends Blair and Serena.

“I hate him! Like what a lame brother! I wish he’d go away. Ryo tells me he has a problem making friends or something. You know I wouldn’t be surprised if he was like retarded or something. I caught him like speaking something before eating but it wasn’t like grace and it was so odd. He’s such a freak and his dad even told me that he doesn’t like him at all and he doesn’t want him in the house anymore. Thank god he’s leaving next week.”

“God what a freak! I hope he doesn’t come back here like right?” Blair said and then Serena the pretty blond one Shun had talked to the most nodded in unison.

Shun had cried that night. Those had been his first real tears caused by emotional pain, he had hated Aya since that moment on, at first he’d despised her but then she’d said all those mean hurtful words about himself.

He’d promised himself as a ten-year-old boy he would never go back to New York.

He finally found Maki and Yamapi and Megumi at the bar waiting for him. Maki seemed especially silent but he was in no mood to find out why.

“Want to go back now? I don’t think Mao and Toma are coming anytime soon.” Megumi said but at that very moment Toma turned up behind Megumi.

“Konnichiwa lets make our way back to the dorms neh?” He said ignoring Megumi who stuck her tongue out at his back Shun noticed laughing.

“Gomen ne Yamapi.” Shun said to him quickly truly sorry that he had to be the one who got Maki back but Yamapi looked as if he was the one who had to be sorry. Shun obviously confused raised a suspicious eyebrow.

Mao was hyper as hell and Shun could almost tell that she was slightly drunk now. How was it that the girl, the prim proper girl who had to maintain an image had gotten drunk?

Then he remembered he had been drunk as well, until Aya had called and her voice had the effect of a sobering concoction.

“Shunnn you are so cute today did I tell you that?” Mao said suddenly leaping forward to hug her childhood friend and Shun pushed her off him and handed her over to Toma.

“What happened to this one?” He asked inquisitively and Toma grinned at Mao secretively and Mao grinned back at him and then the two of them burst out laughing. God knew what happened in that V.I.P room but they sure as hell weren’t telling.

“You’ll find out tomorrow I promise. Speaking of…did Jun disappear?” Toma said glancing around for him and Megumi nodded.

“It was like practically instant.” She said and Toma ignored her and pointed to the door so they wouldn’t have to yell that much anymore.

And with that they left the club, all of them leaving with definitely unforgettable memories.
