Proustian the baby bear could hardly believe it as she roamed the halls of her new school. She met a lot of bears - white, brown - just like her, black and white and diligently listened and talked with them about how they could help each other improve their coexistence in whichever forest they may be in.

When she went home that day to her mama and papa bear and to her sister Katie the energetic bear, she told them all about her first day. Then she excitedly wrote a letter to Nini the bear and asked another owl, whom she has befriended too, to send it to her. 

But Nini never wrote back. 

Proustian the baby bear did not let this one discourage her. She wrote 364 other letters.

But the owl will always return to her empty-handed. Proustian felt her heart break.

Within those 364 days though, she realized so many things, on how she will remember Nini the bear from the most random moments and things:

She will remember how much Nini the bear loves milk-flavored ice cream whenever she eats one too.

 Proustian will find herself thinking about her whenever she sees hyacinth - Nini the bear's favorite flower - in the forest.
