Brother, Dear Brother - Chapter 11
Brother, Dear BrotherThough Myungsoo wondered what it was that Dongwoo knew, he maintained his composure. "I'm tired. I need to rest," said Myungsoo as he closed his eyes. "You can go now."
Dongwoo smirked, taking a hint. "Well I've wasted enough time here already," he said and walked out the door.
A moment later, Myungsoo heard the door to his room open again. He let out a frustrated sigh, wondering why Dongwoo had returned.
"I thought I told you to leave," Myungsoo scolded while still keeping his eyes closed.
"I'm sorry," replied a surprised voice.
Realising that the voice did not belong to Dongwoo, Myungsoo's eyes shot open. He looked at the door and was taken aback to find Sunggyu standing there with a startled look upon his face. He thought that Sunggyu had left but seeing the older man's presence brought him much joy.
"I'm sorry for disturbing you. I'll leave," Sunggyu apologised as he retreated out the door.
"Wait!" Myungsoo called out as he immediately sat up and proceeded to climb out of bed. He wanted to stop Sunggyu from leaving but soon realised that his left hand was still attached to an IV drip. "Don't leave!"
Sunggyu halted and looked back at Myungsoo hesitantly.
"I'm sorry," Myungsoo apologised. "I thought you were Dongwoo."
Sunggyu accepted Myungsoo's explanation and walked over to the bed, bringing forth a relieved smile on the younger man's face.
"How are you feeling?" Sunggyu asked with concern.
Myungsoo glanced down at stomach before giving Sunggyu a reassuring smile. "Fine," he replied. "It's no big deal."
Sunggyu frowned at Myungsoo's response. "No big deal? How can you say that? You were stabbed several times and lost a lot of blood. You had me so worried."
Myungsoo smiled, seemingly happy that he was being scolded.
"Why are you smiling?" Sunggyu asked.
"I'm just happy," Myungsoo replied. I'm happy that you're worried about me. It means that you at least care about me.
There was a moment of silence as they stared at each other.
"I'm sorry," Sunggyu finally said. "I didn't recognise you the other day."
"I'm no longer a child," said Myungsoo. "I..." There was a moment's hesitation as Myungsoo struggled to finish his sentence. "I'm sorry."
Sunggyu frowned wondering why Myungsoo was apologising.
"About what happened that day," Myungsoo continued with a solemn look upon his face. "About your mother."
Sunggyu looked at Myungsoo. "There's no need for you to apologise. What happened wasn't your fault. It was an accident. Perhaps, we're just not meant to be a family."
Myungsoo lowered his head, avoiding Sunggyu's eyes. The guilt was eating him up inside.
"On the bright side, it looks like you have gained another younger brother," said Sunggyu, changing the subject to lighten the solemn mood. "Woohyun seems like a good kid."
Unbeknownst to them, a figure was standing outside the door, listening to their every word. He frowned in anger when he heard Sunggyu's words. I'm not a kid, he thought before he turned around and walked away in anger.
He kicked open the door to the underground club and stepped inside. Upon seeing his presence, the place fell into silence. The group of men at the bar turned around. Their eyes widened in fear when they saw the angry look upon his face.
