Black Pen
Eclipse (The Sequel)“I think if we figure out the bridge to the song, then we’ll have the perfect song for our next title track,” Seulgi exclaimed, tapping her black point pen against the piece of paper that had a copy of the lyrics of their new song. “Do you have any ideas?”
Yuna was sitting in front of the computer, her slim fingers tapping on random piano keys. She heard what Seulgi was saying, but none of her words were sticking to her head. Seeing Yerin earlier today and being reminded of the way they ended things made her anxious, but who was she to blame? Perhaps she should’ve seen this coming instead.
“Yuna?” Seulgi waved her hand, hoping Yuna would see her through the reflection of the booth’s window. “Earth to Choi Yuna? Can you hear me?”
The lead singer snapped out of her deep thoughts, turning herself with the help of the leather chair she was seated on. “I’m sorry?”
“Did you not hear anything I said?” The dancer asked, a bit bewildered. “I said the bridge is all we need and we’ll be finished.”
“Oh,” the other straightened up, nodding along. “Right, the bridge. I already submitted the demo to our producer and we should be getting an approval by tonight.”
Seulgi thinned out her lips by pressing them together, now using the end of her pen to tap it against her chin. “I care about you, you know? And it’s obvious that you haven’t been acting like yourself for the past few days. Mind filling me in?”
Yuna rubbed the back of her neck. As much as she wanted to open up to Seulgi, she told no one about her seperation with Yerin. It would’ve been too abrupt to say anything now. “I’m not sure if I’m ready yet,” she confessed. “But once I am, you’ll be the first one I reach out to.”
The dancer exhaled through her nose, giving her partner a sweet smile. “Take all the time you need, Yuna. I’m not here to rush you. I promise.”
“Yewon?” Sana peeked her head through her boss’s office door, carrying a bright smile like usual. “Are you busy?”
The CEO glanced down at the pieces of papers that were waiting for her approval and signature. “I could probably multitask,” she shrugged. “Is someone here to see me?”
“Yeah,” Sana turned her head, checking in with the stranger to ask for their name again. “Jinnie.”
It took her a moment to truly take in what Sana said. Was she dreaming. “What..?”
“Can she come in?” Sana rose her eyebrow. “Or do you want me call security?”
“No no,” the CEO shook her head. “Let her come in.”
Within a few seconds, Jinnie stepped through the doors, dragging her small suitcase behind her heels. “Yewon.”
“Hi,” Yewon greeted the latter. “I didn’t expect you to come in today... Or at all in that matter. Go ahead and sit.”
The surgeon tech took a seat right in front of Yewon’s office desk. Her suitcase stood beside the armchair, Yewon noticing the item. Jinnie was here by impulse and she wasn’t sure for what, but maybe it was to save herself from the embarrassment of being someone’s second choice.
“I didn’t mean to startle you,” the tech sighed, fiddling with
