Peppermint Tea
Eclipse (The Sequel)It took Eunbi about an hour to get Yewon home. Yewon's grip on her body was firm as if she was afraid to let Eunbi go. Even the CEO's maids were surprised at their boss's demeanor. They weren't used to seeing her out, smelling like alcohol, and in a stranger's arms. Not once has she ever brought anyone home. Eunbi, on the other hand, only cared about getting her ex home and safe. She was surprised Yewon's employees allowed her to carry her upstairs to her room, but they knew she meant no harm.
Eunbi's commute back home had her in deep thought. How was she supposed to explain herself to Yewon tomorrow? Would she believe that Eunbi was there in the same restaurant casually eating with a friend? Yewon wasn't stupid. She would know, so there was no point in trying to find an excuse. She needed to be honest if the CEO asked, but she prayed to whatever being was above her to give her a small break. And as if the gods were actually listening to her, she stepped into her apartment, being greeted with a wide-eyed Dahyun, a photobook in her hand.
"Hey-..." Eunbi stared at the photobook, matching Dahyun's wide-eyed expression upon realizing what it was. "Hey! Give me that!"
"It is her!" Dahyun shook her head, holding the photobook in her hand.
Eunbi yanked the book out of her hands, placing it under her arm. "How did you even find that?"
"It was sitting on the kitchen table, genius." Dahyun scoffed, standing to follow her boss. "I had no clue you still had contact with her."
"It's a long story," Eunbi sighed. "Anyways, it's late, you should get some rest. I have work tomorrow and so do you."
"You still never told me your job here," Dahyun continued, gathering her items to place in the guest room. "You own a successful business, but you have a second job?"
"No more questions," Eunbi shushed the other. "I'm tired and I want to sleep, so goodnight."
"But-"
"Aht! Goodnight."
"Eunbi, you are such a lifesaver," Sana exclaimed, almost collapsing to her knees. "Yewon was supposed to present the material today, but she's nowhere to be found. How the hell did you know what to say? Did you practice with her?"
"No," Eunbi chuckled, both hands cupping the mug of coffee in her palms. "I heard her talking to herself during the evenings when everyone else left to go home. She likes to walk back and forth and pretend she's in a real meeting. She did it so often that I just memorized it."
Sana raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Impressive."
Eunbi bowed her head sheepishly from her compliment but quickly faced her again. "Hey, Sana... Can I ask you a question?"
Sana stirred her coffee with extra creamer whilst staring into Eunbi's eyes to emphasize she was listening. "Sure. What is it?"
Eunbi wasn't sure how to phrase her next statement. It felt as though it wasn't her business to ask, but she cared for Yewon (maybe a little too much). "I was thinking, maybe the next time you set Yewon up on a blind date, it could be with someone nicer? And maybe humble on top of that?"
The words that left Eunbi's lips tasted bittersweet. She wanted to make sure it didn't seem like she was bossing Sana around, because who was she to? She only had good intentions.
Sana placed both hands over . "Oh no..." She whispered. "Was he an ?"
"Yeah," Eunbi smiled, scratching the back of her head. "I'm sure you didn't know because I couldn't imagine you wanting Yewon to suffer through a dinner. Maybe try to get to know them a bit better next time."
"Stupid, stupid, stupid," Sana mumbled, shaking her head in disbelief. "I only heard of him through a mutual friend. All she said was he had money, was handsome and liked sweet girls. I trusted her... I should've met him first!"
Eunbi grasped Sana's wrists to stop her from hurting herself. "It's okay, Sana. Lesson learned for next time, right?"
"R-Right," Sana agreed. "By the way, how did you know he was an ? Did she tell you?"
Busted.
Eunbi picked at her sleeves to distract herself from Sana's question, but how could she escape it? "A coworker of mine was in town, so I wanted to try the restaurant they were at. Plus, it also gave me a reason to watch over Yewon. If I wasn't there, Yewon may have gotten harmed."
"Oh, Eunbi..." Sana muttered. "You are an angel. Thank you for looking out for her. From now on, I'll give her future blind dates an extensive interview."
Yewon's morning was catastrophic. She was comfortable in bed, snuggled and sound asleep beneath her weighted blankets until a hot ray of sunlight burned her awake. The internal panic set in. Yewon knew she was always up before sunrise, but the sun was way ahead today. Her phone was filled with notifications from Sana and her clients. She missed her morning meetings.
The worry subsided when she read Sana's texts.
8:35 am
[Sana]: Yewon! Where are you? We're about to start in five minutes.
[Sana]: All of the clients are patiently waiting and already signed the privacy forms... I have no idea how to present your material!
[Sana]: Help! They're getting sick of waiting. They almost finished the pot of coffee we brewed.
10:56 am
[Sana]: You are so lucky Eunbi was here! She took over the meeting and the clients have agreed to sponsor our expansion to North America!!! :)
[Sana]: Also, I should probably ask, are you okay? It's so unlike you to sleep in.
A wave of relief washed through Yewon's chest. She couldn't believe she could miss such an important meeting. Her worry almost made her forget about her massive hangover. Almost.
It took her no longer than fifteen minutes to get dressed. She needed caffeine, but the office was more important.
Her driver saw her urgency, so he sped to get to work quickly (and safely). Yewon held a gift bag in her hand firmly, trying her best not to hurl in her own vehicle. Perhaps she needed hangover medicine instead of coffee.
The driver helped her out, her usual guards escorting her through the private doors. She didn't have time to put mak
