Chapter 2
Strictly No Dating
“Let’s forget this ever happened.”
As if Sakura could forget it.
She couldn’t sleep that night. She sat alone in the living room of Dorm 1 and it was already 3am.
How could she sleep after being kissed by her crush?
She didn’t know where she gets the confidence asking Eunbi to be her girlfriend. Maybe it was the two cans of coke she gobbled down as soon as they landed at the airport earlier. She was feeling a little sugar high when she was talking to Eunbi. It was probably the sugar plus the fatigue plus the fact that Sakura thought it was all a dream. She really thought it was another dream sequence featuring Eunbi because she fell asleep on flight and on the van.
But it felt all too real when she kissed her.
WE KISSED.
WE FREAKING KISSED.
She really didn’t expect Eunbi to kiss her.
Even though she already kissed the leader multiple times in her dreams, and they definitely did a lot more than just kissing that caused her to wake up sweating in the middle of the night, but it was all just dreams.
The real Kwon Eunbi kissing her is a whole another thing.
She panicked. Maybe it was a few hours delayed panic but there she was panicking at 3 am. She put a hand on her chest, trying to calm herself down. She took a few deep breaths and soon she felt calm. She leaned her back on the sofa, thinking. Her brain begins to think of the incidents rationally.
So she was right.
She wasn’t the only one who felt the tension between them. They are always awkward. She always thought there was a little spark whenever she was with Eunbi, sometimes it was too strong that she ended up making stupid things like commenting on her body or lying down on her chest or just stares blankly at her.
The leader must’ve thought of it too. So it wasn’t one-sided.
She smiled. She brought her hand to and traced her lips with her fingers, remembering the taste of their kiss earlier. She closed her eyes, replaying the scene and reliving the feelings she felt when their lips finally met each other.
It was electric and magical, and Sakura wished it would never end.
It wasn’t enough.
She wants more of it.
She wants Kwon Eunbi.
“Can’t sleep?” asked a voice suddenly.
She looked at the direction and saw her best friend, Chaeyeon.
She smiled and nodded, “You too?”
Chaeyeon nodded and sat beside Sakura.
“Yeah, I got things on my mind.”
Sakura is always grateful for having Chaeyeon in her life. She can’t imagine how she could go through the brutal reality show without her by her side. When she was completely lost in translation and in the fast paced training, Chaeyeon offered to help her through everything and they became close ever since. She cried so hard when her best friend was picked to join the final group. The clip went viral and they’re basically dubbed as the nation’s best friend in Korea and Japan. They always talked to each other about anything that’s troubling their minds, there’s no secrets between them.
She’s really comfortable with Chaeyeon so she always told her everything. Her problems, her concerns, her deepest thoughts. But she never told her about how she feels for Eunbi. She didn’t know why either. Maybe she was embarrassed by it. Having naughty dreams like a boy who just reached puberty.
She glanced at her best friend, thinking, maybe she should just tell her about the kiss? At least she won’t be shouldering the problem alone. She needs some advice and Chaeyeon always have the right thing to say. She was about to open when Chaeyeon suddenly leaned her head on her shoulder and sighed.
Seems like her best friend has a problem of her own.
“What’s up?” asked Sakura.
Chaeyeon kept silent for a while before she sat up straight and turned to look at Sakura.
“You know that they said we’ll get additional stages for the Japan tour, right?”
“Uh-uh.”
“They said that we can perform in pairs.”
“Yes. Why? Do you want to pair up with me?” Sakura said, wiggling her eyebrows.
Chaeyeon laughs, “Well, that’s a tempting offer Saku-chan, but I have someone else in mind. I want to do a couple dance, a y one.”
Sakura nods, “Wow y, huh? With who?”
Chaeyeon bit her lip and looked at the floor before continuing.
“Eunbi unnie.”
Sakura’s eyes widen, “With unnie??”
Chaeyeon ran her hands through her hair and added, “Yeah, do you think she’ll agree to do the performance with me?”
Sakura looked at her friend and thought she saw the latter’s cheeks turning pink. Chaeyeon has a fair skin complexion so it’s really easy to notice if she blushes. Sakura swallowed.
She’s freaking blushing!
“W-Well, I don’t know. Maybe you should ask her yourself.”
Sakura suddenly felt uncomfortable and she walked over to the TV. She the TV and the game console. Chaeyeon laid down on the couch and stares at the ceiling.
“What kind of y dance, though?” Sakura asked suddenly.
She was already 10 minutes into the game. It was Detroit: Become Human, the game that Eunbi gave her for her birthday. She has yet to finish it.
“I don’t know yet. Just… you know, a lot of touching, y ones…”
Chaeyeon giggled and then buried her face onto a pillow.
Sakura let out an awkward chuckle and then bit her lip. She didn’t realize that she was clutching tightly to the game console she was holding. She didn’t know why but she has a bad feeling about this. A hunch.
She hopes she’s wrong.
Or things will get complicated.
**
It was a free day for IZ*ONE members.
Some of them took the chance to went back home to meet their families, some get to attend schools, and some took the chance to shopping or hang out with friends.
Eunbi went out with Sian that day, to catch up with one of her closest friend. They went shopping together and then headed to the dessert café to cool down. Eunbi ordered a cup of green tea latte with a slice of cake. They continue to talk as they eat, Eunbi asking Sian about her future debut. Sian said it will be sometime soon, but she didn’t know exactly when.
“You’re really busy these days, unnie,” said Sian.
Eunbi shrugged, “We are. But we get a few days off sometimes and I’m just making the most out of it.”
Sian smirked, “Sometimes you’re in Seoul, sometimes in Tokyo, I don’t even know where you are anymore.”
“And I’m going to New York next month.”
“Ah, for KCON?”
Eunbi nodded.
“You’re so lucky. Enjoy your time there, unnie. And buy me some souvenirs!”
“Do you want one of those I LOVE NY caps?”
“It doesn’t matter, buy me anything! I could use some caps too, or t-shirts!”
Eunbi laughed, “Fine, I’ll buy you things.”
She grabbed her cup and took a sip from her drink. She put down the cup on the table, and her eyes were still on the cup, fiddling with it. Suddenly she became quiet.
“Hey, what’s on your mind? You seem distracted since earlier. You almost bought a dress that’s not even your size. What’s wrong?”
Eunbi exhales loudly.
“Just some stuff.”
“Come on, spill it to me.”
Eunbi looked into the distance for a while and then she looked at Sian.
“Okay, I do need your opinion.”
“Just shoot. I’m the best person for advice.”
Eunbi took a deep breath, “Alright, what would you do if… someone confesses to you right now?”
Sian raised her eyebrow, “Did someone confessed to you?? Did you accept him??”
Eunbi shook her head, “I didn’t! I mean, it’s only natural for me to reject, right? I’m a member of an idol group!”
“Yeap. Idols can’t date. Especially a group like IZ*ONE. Definitely not a group like IZ*ONE,” Sian said, nodding her head.
“Exactly! Plus, I’m the leader, I can’t do something as reckless as dating. We have signed a contract, and one of the clause had stated, strictly no dating
