Surprise

Eunbi entered the party after a few minutes, with her pockets feels heavier than usual. She put the ring in her left pocket, and planning to pop the question to Sakura in front of everyone later. She was nervous but she tried hard not to let it show. Sakura was waiting for her at the lobby and immediately wrapped her arms around her waist as soon as she saw her.

“Why? Missed me already?” Eunbi asked cheekily.

Sakura leaned forward, closer to her girlfriend’s face, “Yes. It’s so lonely without you, baby.”

Eunbi grinned and peck her lips lightly, “Let’s go mingle with others.”

“Whatever you say, babe. Though I would prefer to just mingle with you.”

Eunbi chuckled, “Kkura, please.”

“Let’s just go to your office and have some alone time, huh?” Sakura asked, pouting.

“Later, baby. I’ll let you have me to yourself. Let’s go.”

The party went on smoothly, with more of the staff had arrived.

Chaeyeon was still trying to court Hyewon, talking about her experience as a chef because it was the only topic that would make her interested. She had tried to sneak away from Chaeyeon a few times after her multiple attempts of awkward flirting, but when the barista started talking about food, she finally showed a little interest.

Yujin was stuffing herself with more food, trying to ignore the fact that her ex-girlfriend was also there. She felt alone with no one to hang out with, with her sister busy with the clingy Sakura, she wanted to hang out with Hyewon but she was occupied, and Yena was sitting with Chaewon and Minju. She ended up eating while standing up. There was a TV in the middle of the lobby, playing the news channel, and she pretended to be interested with stock values.

“At least find a table, Jin,” said a voice.

She turned around and her face beamed, “Jaebum oppa!”

It was her cousin, also Aunt Eunjin’s only son, Im Jaebum. He was smiling widely, his eyes almost gone. The good looking genes really runs in their family.

“Do you want to sit with me? Or are you still busy deciding which stock to buy?” he asked.

Yujin nodded, “Yes! Oppa, you’re a life saver!”

“Oh, so that pretty girl is your ex-girlfriend?” asked Jaebum, amused.

He and Yujin were sitting at a table across the room with plates of food in front of them. Yujin sipped on her soda.

She nods, “Yes. So I hope you won’t make any move on her. I’m warning you, oppa.”

Jaebum chuckled, “Okay noted.”

“Rather than her though, I find someone else from the group cute,” he added.

Yujin rolled her eyes, “Let me guess it, Kim Chaewon? The one with red-ish hair? She’s so cute and so pretty, I know. She’s also my rival, so I don’t think she’s interested in men.”

Jaebum shook his head, “No.”

“Who else though? Hyewon unnie? Oh, she’s so beautiful, right? But she likes eating so much, I personally think that’s her charm though. Chaeyeon unnie is vying for her attention as we speak. But I heard she’s straight, so I really have no idea how they will go,” Yujin said, shrugging.

“Not that one either.”

Yujin sighed, “Then who?”

“The cute girl with duck lips,” Jaebum replied, smiling.

Yujin scoffed, “Y-Yena unnie? That’s your type?!”

Jaebum nodded, his eyes sparkles, “She’s adorable. Gosh.”

Yujin laughed, “Oh, well. I guess everyone has their own preference. Do you want her number? I have her number, and also game id.”

He smiled weakly, “What’s the point? I’m going to be matched with someone that our family picks.”

He grabbed his glass of water and gulped it down slowly.

“Is that why you’re always single? I thought you’re going to be a monk or something,” Yujin said.

“I don’t want to give false hopes to the girls I date. Being in love with the person that I choose is a privilege. We don’t have that privilege, because of our family.”

Yujin bit her lip and looked away, “I don’t really want to accept that and neither does my sister.”

“What do you mean?”

Yujin grinned, “You’ll see.”

Eunbi was talking with some of the managers from other departments, with Sakura in her arm. Sakura played along, talking animatedly with the people that Eunbi introduced her to, even though she was slowly dying inside. She never really likes attending parties and leading small talks, but Eunbi’s life consists of many of corporate parties.

They stepped away from a group and Sakura suddenly tugged both Eunbi’s hands.

“Eun,” she called.

“What is it?”

“Can we just get out of here? I want to kiss you so bad,” Sakura said, pouting.

Eunbi laughed, “What’s gotten into you? How much did you drink?”

“Oh, I’m drunk alright. I’m Kwon Eunbi drunk,” Sakura replied with a smirk.

Eunbi wrapped her arms around Sakura’s waist and looked into her eyes.

“Baby, I have something to say to you,” she said.

Sakura raised an eyebrow, “What is it?”

Eunbi looked down, avoiding her gaze. She was suddenly getting nervous. She reached into her left pocket and touched the white box with her fingers. The ring was there in her pocket. But she couldn’t take it out. Her hand froze.

“I love you.”

Sakura smiled, “I know you do.”

Eunbi continued, “You’re the girl of my dreams. I’ve never thought that you would just walk out of my dreams, and came into my life like this.”

“I’ve never been so sure of anything in my life.”

She looked up and met her eyes.

“Miyawaki Sakura, I-

“HEY ISN’T THAT SAKURA?!” a voice exclaimed.

They both looked at each other, puzzled. And then they turned around towards the commotion behind them. Their friends were gathering in front of the TV, watching the news. The couple walked towards the TV, took a peek at the news that attracted their attention.

And then they saw it. The news.

Sakura’s eyes widen as she watched the news playing.

It was the entertainment news section, and the headline was huge. It reads,

'FAMOUS MODEL/ACTOR TAKADA KENTA IS ENGAGED'

The host continued to read the news, all cheerful.

“We have a good news today! The rising and handsome actor/model Takada Kenta had just announced his engagement in a fan meeting earlier today. He hopes all of his fans would give blessings to him and his fiancé.”

“Who’s the lucky girl?” asked the co-host.

“He said he’s been dating her for 5 years, since they were studying together in Japan.”

He continued, “Her name is Miyawaki Sakura.”

And then they showed a photo of Sakura on screen.

"W-What the hell is this?!" Eunbi asked, shocked.
