She quickly went to the door. Her face fell after seeing the person standing there "Mum...". Joo Hyun’s mother came right in without saying something. Joo Hyun was still surprise of her sudden appearance. The last time her mother visited her was when she and Seul Gi firstly moved in to their apartment. “I am not happy Joo Hyun…” She heard her mother saying at the background. Finally, she managed to close the door and turn around to face her. Her mother was crossing her arms with an unpleased expression. “Don’t you want to ask why?” She continued. Joo Hyun clenched her jaw and asked “Why?” in an uninterested way. “It’s not a pleasure for me to hear you breaking up with the son of our dearest friends of the family and driving all the way here to confront you with that discussion we have right here at this hour. Tell me Joo Hyun, what possessed you to do that?” Joo Hyun frowned “Did he possibly tell you about that?” Her mother scowled at her question. “Is that important? I heard it from here and there… the birds have twittered…” She ogled. Joo Hyun bit her inner cheeks out of annoyance “Why do I have to date him, if I don’t have the will? It’s my life, remember? And besides of that, they are not friends of our family but friends of YOUR family, mother.” She spoke with a shaky voice. Her mother sighed hard and touched her forehead “Listen kid, I- I won’t stay here long. I also don’t want to cause a scene. I just thought it’ll be nicer to give you the information in person rather than on the phone. Joo Hyun-ah…” She walked closer to her and her hair with a warm smile “You know what we’ve been through, right? Now, we’re living a blessed life, dear. I don’t want this to be destroyed. Dating, having a partner, marrying those are choices. Why would you waste your time being with someone whom you have no profits with? I understand that you don’t want to be with Doo Joon. How about you take a look at other candidates which would possibly be a good choice for you?” She sassed. Joo Hyun frowned deep, about to cry any moment. She brushed the hands off of her mother “How can you say these things? I am your daughter, why aren’t you considering my opinions or feelings? Is everything about profits and money to you?” She shredded tears as she talked to her mother. Her mother sighed and took her bag “I have no time hearing these meaningless things, Joo Hyun. You can’t forever live alone by yourself. You need a man in your life. Your father and I only want the best for you, don’t forget that you’re only living here because of our help. Any other kid doesn’t have this privilege you have right now. So please be grateful and listen to your parents…” Joo Hyun whipped away her tears “He is not my father!!!” She hollered and opened the door “Please…Leave!!!” She shouted while keeping crying. Her mother went out with fast steps. Joo Hyun closed the door and let herself slide down. She was crying on the floor while hiding her face on her knees. She was missing her father so much now. Since her mother married a rich, business man from Rokpyu, she couldn’t deal with her personality. All she was thinking about was her money and luxurious life which is why she wants Joo Hyun to marry a guy of a prestige family.

Seok Jin and Ji Soo were sitting at the cafeteria of college. They were separately working on their notebooks to prepare their last assignments for the semester since there were not many times left for semester break. Seok Jin threw his left arm around Ji Soo’s shoulder and her strand of hair. Ji Soo kept typing on her notebook, so Seok Jin leaned closer and whispered, “Shall we take a break?” He looked at her with pleasing eyes. Ji Soo smiled “Let me finish the last part.” Seok Jin dropped his head on her shoulder and raised to first kiss her cheek through the way to her neck. Leaving sweet butterfly kisses there. “Ji Soo giggled and winced. She hit him with her elbow and whispered, “Stop it” Seok Jin smirked and continued his action until Joo Hyun joined their table “Hey, guys.” She greeted them emotionless and sat down without looking at them. “Hey!” Ji Soo brightly said and immediately sensed there was something wrong. She looked at Seok Jin who shrugged and joked “Are the iced coffees all gone?” Joo Hyun didn’t react to his question and even plugged her earplugs in. Ji Soo poked her arm and smiled to her. “Is everything okay?” She softly asked. Joo Hyun glanced at her and gave a small nod. “Guys, I’ll look for Tae Hyung…” She said and left. Joo Hyun couldn’t sleep the whole night because of the thought of her mother and passed away father. Her mother was sassy enough to send her some contact information about the guy she has in mind. Joo Hyung went into the bathroom and observed herself on the mirror. She sighed to her look and tried to hide her eye bags with some cosmetic products. While doing so, she could hear some girls talking about something a few meters away from her. “I heard he once dated a student, so why wouldn’t he say yes to me?” The taller one said “I wish the best of luck for you. It would be fab, if he’d accept you. I’m soo excited for summer camp…” Joo Hyun stopped applying after hearing these words. She assumed they were probably talking about Dong Hae. She glanced at them and realized those were the girls of the guitar course. They were already head over heals for Dong Hae as soon as they saw him. She put her materials in her bag and went out. As always, her timing was on point again. She saw how Dong Hae also went out of the WC room and closed the door next to her. Joo Hyun was surprised seeing him suddenly in front of her, so she gave him a small smile and passed him. “Hey, Joo Hyun-ah!” Dong Hae called after her. Joo Hyun stopped her tracks and slightly turned around “Hey!” She said with a small smile. “Ready for today?” He smilingly asked. Joo Hyun mentally facepalmed. She didn’t even practice once for the play. She bit her inner lip and mumbled “Yes…” Dong Hae frowned at her expression. He could now realize from this close distance that she looked somehow tired and did she cry? “Hey, Mr. Lee!” The girls shouted from behind and walked to them. Joo Hyun rolled her eyes and started moving away until Dong Hae grabbed her hand and prevented her from doing so. Joo Hyun creased her forehead to him. “Mr. Lee, are you also excited about the summer camp this year?” The tall girl asked with a grinning face which made Joo Hyun want to slap her face hard since she knew the motive behind her question. Dong Hae slightly nodded “Yeah, I guess so…” Joo Hyun glanced at him, then looked at the floor. “I would love to see you there, Mr. Lee.” The girl said now with a flirtier expression. Joo Hyun rolled her tongue inside and felt her blood boiling a little. Dong Hae nodded with a smile, then the girls bid their goodbyes. After they left, Dong Hae held Joo Hyun’s hand and pulled her away. Joo Hyun didn’t even got the time to protest his action until they were sitting on a bench at the backside of the campus. Joo Hyun sat there silently with crossed arms and legs. She was staring at her front while Dong Hae leaned with his elbows on his knees and looked to the front also. Joo Hyun didn’t even now what made her be silent against his dragging. She wanted to look for Tae Hyung and now she was sitting next to Dong Hae outside. She didn’t even know how to feel about it. After a second Dong Hae asked “Do you want to talk about it?” Joo Hyun moved her head slightly to his direction, he was still staring ahead “About what?” She asked in a low tone. “About the thing that is bothering you.” Dong Hae answered. Joo Hyun looked back at the spot she was staring the whole time. She shrugged. “I don’t think talking about it won’t make the reality better.” She sighed. Now, Dong Hae finally faced her “Are you the same person who talked to me yesterday on the phone? Because she seemed to know better…” Joo Hyun blinked rapidly. Dong Hae scratched his neck with his left hand “I wouldn’t be bothered, you know. I mean listening about your problems and so on… If you wish, you can- you can call and tell me about it. Any- any time you want.” Joo Hyun slowly moved her gaze to his face. She couldn’t imagine of Dong Hae being a Casanova or whatever they say about him. That thing Tae Hyung told her for example. He seemed very sweet and caring with her. How can this angelic, innocent face be that kind of a person? That was nearly impossible to her. Dong Hae looked at her. Joo Hyun gave him a smile, which Dong Hae returned. “I better get going since it’s the last lecture for this semester.” Joo Hyun said and took her bag. Dong Hae nodded “I’ll see you later!”

After the lecture ended, Joo Hyun searched Tae Hyung all over the campus. She called him a few times, but he wasn’t picking up ‘Where is he?’. Then, she noticed how he was talking to a group of boys in front of the cafeteria. She walked to his direction. Tae Hyung left the group after seeing Joo Hyun and walked to her with wide open arms. Joo Hyun immediately wrapped her arms around his torso. Tae Hyung was slightly pushed back behind since her walking speed was a little faster than his. “Wow! Did you miss me so much, baechu?” He said smiling and hugging her back. “Tae Hyung-ah…” Joo Hyun mumbled. “Hm?” Tae Hyung answered, her hair and lowering his head. Joo Hyun sighed and broke the hug. She took a few steps back and faced him “My mum came visiting me last night. What a surprise, what?” She said pursing her lips. Tae Hyung got shocked and parted his lips “Wh- why? And what did she say?” He asked. Joo Hyun sighed “She made clear that it’s a disaster of me breaking up with Doo Joon and that I shouldn’t waste my time and look for other candidates she set up for me.” Tae Hyung frowned deep “What the hell? She’s indeed very stubborn about this privilege thing. But knowing you, I can imagine that you spoke against her?” He asked, narrowing his eyes. “Of course I did. But I- I can’t deal with the fact, she’s behaving so respectless since dad is gone. I mean, is money everything to her?” Tae Hyung looked at her with sad eyes. Joo Hyun continued talking “Every time, I fee like I’m doing the right thing, she pops out, out of nothing and ruins my conscience.” She tilted her head. “You don’t have to feel like it. You’re doing the right thing, baechu!” He walked closer “Like seriously! You’re nearly to perfection in my eyes. In any area of your life. And most importantly as a human being…” He her hair. Joo Hyun looked at him and pouted “You only say these things because I’m your best friend.” She said. “Well, actually, I have lots of other best friends…” Joo Hyun widened her eyes at him “You’re my sister” He smiled. Joo Hyun sighed and smiled back. “You want to watch a movie tonight?” Tae Hyung asked and started walking. Joo Hyun bit her lips “Actually, I have other plans.” She slowly said. “What kind of?” Joo Hyun thought about excuses she could tell him “Ji- Ji Soo wanted to come over to you know study and finishing last assignment we have to hand in.” She forced a smile. She hated lying and liars but that’s the only thing she could do at the moment. If she’d tell him, she was going to act in a play with Dong Hae, he’d probably go crazy which sounds absurd anyway. How did she end up with a play with him? Tae Hyung seemed to believe he
