It was autumn, around late November, the early stage of the cold winter and the late stage of the fall. The air was a bit chilly, warmer than the harsh cold winds of the winter but still cooler than the pleasant breezes of autumn. Kyungsoo shivers, huddling closer to Chanyeol, snuggling into his shoulders and breathing in his deep rosewood fragrance, getting all warm and comfy as the alpha hums to a familiar tune. They were on the back of a bus, with no other soul other than the driver in the front, Chanyeol gazing out into the country as the omega takes a nap on his shoulder.

It was a date, a spontaneous date actually. Chanyeol was supposed to work on his thesis but the final date got postponed, so there he was, bragging into Kyungsoo’s origami session with the kids and dragging the omega out for a date. He remembers looking back skeptically at Mother superior, but the older beta woman only smiled, waving him off for the evening.

They got onto a random bus and Kyungsoo didn’t bother to check their destination. If it’s with Chanyeol, he would even go to the end of the world.

They get down at some bus stop, Chanyeol waking him up and dragging him out as Kyungsoo mindlessly follows the alpha, pulling his scarf closer to his lips. He halts after a while, realizing that they were actually on a beach, his feet rooted into the gritty, moist sand, soft waves meeting his feet, the evening sun bright and orangey.

 “Whoa, it’s freezing cold!!”  Chanyeol squeaks, letting go of Kyungsoo’s hand and wrapping his long limbs around himself.

“How stupid is this!! Let’s go home!!”  He shivers and Kyungsoo chuckles.

“Weren’t you the one who bought me here?” Kyungsoo quirks his brows at his boyfriend

“Well, I thought it would be a perfect spot for a date?” Chanyeol replies sheepishly, a tiny blush adorning his cheeks.

“Oh, really now?” Kyungsoo teases on with a tiny tug of his lips.

“Yeah, of course, it is a date!” the alpha sneezes once he finishes his sentence and Kyungsoo hands him a tissue.

“But man, coming to the ocean on a winter day was a bad idea!” Chanyeol blows into his tissue and looks at the shorter when he doesn’t get a reply from his omega boyfriend.

“What is it?”

“Now that I think about it, it is the first time I have ever come to an ocean.”

“Are you freaking serious?!!”  Chanyeol jumps, grabbing Kyungsoo by his shoulder and staring comically down at the omega.

“I am sorry that I said the ocean !!”

“What are you saying?”

“The ocean’s ing awesome!! It’s the best!!” Chanyeol sniffles, trying to hold back a sneeze, totally not supporting his claim, and Kyungsoo giggles.

Chanyeol simply holds the omega's hand and starts walking down the shore, and Kyungsoo doesn’t complain, slowly walking behind the alpha.  The evening sun dives farther down the sea line, departing for the evening as twilight slowly starts consuming the sky. The wind gets chiller and Kyungsoo pulls at the alpha’s sleeves, telling him it’s time they leave.

“Five more minutes.”

“Why? Aren’t you cold?”

“Of course I am, but I am also trying to drill it into your head that I am the first-ever person you came to the ocean with!” Kyungsoo blushes at that, looking down as he clears his throat.

“Well, most of my firsts are with you. You still want to claim more?” Kyungsoo mumbles.

“Hmm, you might remember about this moment when you come to the ocean again. Or when the winter wind is strong and chilly like now or when you hear the familiar tune I was humming right now.”

“I will obviously not forget about this moment even if we don’t spend another five minutes here.”  Kyungsoo chuckles, shaking his head.

“No, you will forget” Chanyeol gazes at the now drowning sun, its brightness fading away with every second.

“You might remember it next year or maybe after five years, but you probably won’t think of it much in ten years.”

Kyungsoo blinks, wondering why Chanyeol would think that way. He is sure, even if it is ten years later, he would still remember this day. But maybe, he might start to forget little by little, the name of the bus stop they got off at, the color of the sweater he is wearing today, the words they spoke on the bus, he is sure, he will forget those things little by little, but as he stood beside Chanyeol, wrapped in his warm rosewood fragrance, he is sure, he would never forget this day, this time he spent with his one and only love
