They are at the movies.

Minhyuk and Hoseok together, it’s a late night show and there are just a few people most of them are couples. The movie in itself isn’t that bad Hoseok thinks but there are far too many scenes that leave Hoseok just slightly uncomfortable and he presumes Minhyuk too who seems to be shifting on his seat every time something like that pops up on the screen.

When the movie is over Minhyuk seems almost too relieved as they walk back to the train station. It’s about 1 am.

“So,” Hoseok asks. “How was the movie?”

“It was okay,” Minhyuk says in a quiet voice.

It’s bizarre because the last time they went to see a movie together Minhyuk had given Hoseok a complete in-depth analysis of the plot, the characters, the scenes and the conclusion of whether the movie was worth watching on their way back home.

But today he seems uncharacteristically quiet.

“Are you hungry?” Hoseok asks.

Minhyuk just shakes his head no and they reach the train station and Minhyuk doesn’t talk to Hoseok but is listening to music instead. Hoseok has to remind himself that even someone as cheery as Minhyuk must have bad days here and now and maybe today was one of them.

As they walked reaching the similar intersection Hoseok pulls at the sleeve of Minhyuk’s shirt.

Minhyuk who is seemingly preoccupied looks at Hoseok finally.

“I had a lot of fun today,”

“Me too,” Minhyuk says simply.

“Um, I’ll see you tomorrow then,”

“Yeah sure,” Minhyuk smiles at Hoseok.

With that, he walks off and so does Hoseok wondering what happened to Minhyuk.

Minhyuk spends a lot of time with Hoseok at his flat. Yoongi seemingly doesn’t mind or at least doesn’t show it. He barely talks to Minhyuk except a polite greeting here and there. It could also be because he is quite busy with his exams but Minhyuk doesn’t seem convinced.

“I think Yoongi hates me,” Minhyuk says. They are on Hoseok’s bed playing Jenga. Minhyuk absent-mindedly pulls out a piece and it stays put.

“No, he doesn’t,” Hoseok says pulling a piece. It looks shaky but stays put.

“He doesn’t really talk to me ever and he always looks annoyed when I’m around,” Minhyuk says and he actually sounds worried. He pulls a piece out and there is no movement at all. Hoseok is in awe.

“He is like that with everyone,” Hoseok says. “It’s in his nature I mean he was like with…Tae you know…him,”

Hoseok fumbles and pulls out a piece everything falls over and Hoseok sighs out loud.

“You win,” Hoseok says gathering the pieces. “I told I am at these”

“It’s okay,” Minhyuk says.

Hoseok nods a little.

“Tae huh,” Minhyuk says. “That’s his name?”

Hoseok looks up before shaking his head no.

“Taehyung,”

“Oh,”

Hoseok nods. It’s okay he knows that no one can find out his identity by just using his first name.

Minhyuk helps him gather all the pieces together.

“You wanna have another round,”

Hoseok shakes his head no.

“I am tired,” he simply says. “I’m sorry”

Minhyuk just nods his mouth drawn in a straight line.

“Hoseokie,”

Hoseok looks up from the magazine he is reading.

“Mmhm,”

“Can I ask you a question?”

“Sure, go ahead,” Hoseok says.

“Say, if someone gave you the chance to forget Taehyung,” Minhyuk says. “Would you take it?”

This was the last thing Hoseok expected Minhyuk to ask and he thinks about it for a whole minute.

“No,” he simply says.

Minhyuk just nods and Hoseok watches him playing with the little salt shaker on the table.

“Can I ask why?” he says after a little while.

“Uh I-we-I love him,” Hoseok says. “Simple as that and even though he hurt me I like to think that we still have good memories”

“But don’t you think that your memories just end up hurting you?”

Hoseok smiles a little.

“Isn’t that the beauty of it all?” Hoseok asks. “It hurts me but I still cling to it”

Minhyuk doesn’t say anything.

“Love does stupid things to people,” Hoseok finishes.

“It really does,” Minhyuk says.

Minhyuk is once again in their flat but today Yoongi has joined them and they are sat in the living room watching a movie.

It is somewhat awkward for Hoseok because he is the only one trying to talk and to lighten up the mood but neither Minhyuk and Yoongi seem to be interested into saying anything so Hoseok eventually gives in and just watches the movie in absolute silence.

Hoseok is glad when the movie is over because neither was the movie good or the whole experience.

“I’ll see you later Hoseok,” Minhyuk says before he hugs Hoseok.

“See you,” Hoseok says.

With that Minhyuk grabs his bag and leaves almost in a hurry.

Yoongi who is still seated on the sofa watches Minhyuk leaves.

“I like him a lot,” Yoongi says.
