Chapter 16
Champagne Gasoline
This chapter is a mess I'm sorry.
When Hoseok wakes up the next morning Taehyung is still asleep beside him. Hoseok watches him for a few minutes and slowly leans in to press his lips on his forehead and Taehyung suddenly wakes up.
“Baby,” he says in a hoarse voice.
“Wakey wakey,” Hoseok says.
Taehyung slowly sits up and rubs his eyes while yawning.
“Did you sleep well?” Hoseok asks.
“Like a baby,” Taehyung answers with a slight smile.
“Come on let’s grab breakfast,” Hoseok says.
They get dressed and head downstairs to find Hoseok’s parents already eating breakfast.
“Morning kids,” Hoseok’s mom says.
“Morning mom,” Hoseok says sitting on one of the chairs.
His mom immediately serves them breakfast.
“So, when do you guys plan to leave?” Hoseok’s dad asks.
“In the evening,” Taehyung answers.
“Aw, I am gonna miss you two here,” Hoseok’s mom says. “You should have stayed longer”
“Yeah but mom I have Uni and um Taehyung has work,” Hoseok explains.
“Don’t worry Mrs. Jung I will make sure Hoseok and I will return soon,”
Hoseok’s mom grins.
They finish their breakfast and Hoseok goes to shower leaving Taehyung while his parents pretty much hound him with questions about his work and life and Taehyung graciously answers.
When both of them are done showering Hoseok decides to take Taehyung to show the neighborhood.
“Why are you putting a mask?” Hoseok asks.
“So that no one sees me,” Taehyung explains. “I’ve had a fair share of reporters follow me after news about Seungwan and me got out and usually Dong handles them”
“Oh,”
They begin walking and initially, Hoseok has his hands tucked in the pocket of his jeans until Taehyung pulls his hand and tightly holds it.
A smile spreads across Hoseok’s face.
“You see that,” he says pointing to a grey building. “That’s my high school”
“Wow, so there is where you studied,”
“Yeah,”
Taehyung just smiles as they walk further and reach a park,
“And this is where kids would hang out,” he says.
They enter the park and it’s mostly empty except for a few young couples.
“I have something to show you,” Hoseok says practically dragging Taehyung and taking him to a corner.
“This tree,” Hoseok says. “Under this, I had my first kiss”
Taehyung’s eyes widen.
“Wow, and who was it?”
“Just some senior from high school,” Hoseok says.
Taehyung grabs Hoseok’s shoulder and makes him stand against the tree.
He lowers his mask and kisses Hoseok ever so gently. Hoseok likes kisses like this when Taehyung is just so gentle. He wishes they could stay like this forever.
Taehyung pulls away and puts his mask back on before grabbing Hoseok’s hand. They sit on the bench and Hoseok rests his head on Taehyung’s shoulder.
“Hoseokie,”
“Mmhm,”
“I am so glad we came to Gwangju,” Taehyung says.
“Me too,”
“I am really happy I met your family,”
Hoseok looks up at Taehyung smiling.
“You know I would love to meet your parents too,”
Taehyung laughed.
“You know that’s never gonna happen,” Taehyung said.
“Yeah, but it would be nice if I do ever meet them,”
Taehyung didn’t say anything.
Hoseok wants to hold Taehyung’s hand because he is just so nervous but he knows better than that as he walks beside Taehyung his hands balled up in a fist instead maintaining just enough distance for friends.
Hoseok looks around and he has never seen so much money in a single room.
Women are dressed in expensive dresses their neck covered in necklaces their hands wrapped around glasses of champagne. Men dressed in suits talking to each other eyeing younger women.
“Are you nervous?” Hoseok hears Taehyung’s quiet voice.
“Yeah,”
And within a second Taehyung sneaks his hand into Hoseok’s palm giving it a reassuring squeeze.
“I am here,” he says.
Hoseok nods.
Hoseok is aimlessly following Taehyung until he stops and Hoseok sees an old couple and he only realizes how uncannily similar the couple and Taehyung look.
Hoseok realizes it’s Taehyung’s parents.
Taehyung’s father has a grip on his son’s shoulders as he says something into Taehyung’s ear who just nods.
“Father, mother,” he says. “This is Jung Hoseok, my friend”
Hoseok immediately bows with a polite smile on his face.
“Nice to meet you,” Hoseok says to them but neither of them say anything or even crack a smile.
“So,” Taehyung’s mom says. “What do you do?”
“I am a student,” Hoseok simply says.
“How did you meet Taehyung?” his father asks.
“Uh…I,”
“Actually I have known Hoseok for two years now,”
“You never told us about him.” His mom says looking at Taehyung.
“Hoseok is always v
