Free Me IV (Mir, Seungho)
MBLAQ drabbleThe first time Seungho met this killer known as Mir, he never would have thought this innocent-looking boy was really a killer. Yet when their eyes met, his heart almost jumped out from his throat as he saw how freezing cold and sharp those brown eyes look. A pair of eyes that could only belong to a killer. A pair of eyes that had seen blood and death. And he felt sudden surge of anger. This boy in front of him was a killer. He killed a lot of people with those hands and maybe even enjoyed it. He was angry. He was disgusted. People like this should be hang to death! But he was just a small insignificant police officer. Punishment for such criminal wasn't under his will.
Second time Seungho met him was when he had to make round around the cells holding the criminal in this last building of this isolated prison during his night shift. A building that held only the most dangerous criminal in. He was passing through one of the cell located on second floor when he realized someone wasn't sleeping. He halted in his steps and stepped back until he was standing in front of the specific cell.
The occupant of this cell was sitting with arms holding his knees against his chest. His head tilted up as he stared up at the small tiny barred window far high up in the right corner of the room. Into the night sky where a full moon could be sighted from this position. And Seungho thought that those eyes seemed different somehow. It didn't look like eyes of a killer. It looked almost like a pair of eyes of a small child. Innocent and sad yet bright at the same time. And as if he was under a spell, he stepped even closer towards the cell and his right hand holding the cold bar separating him from the killer. Keep staring at the view inside this cellar.
"I'm trapped." Mir's voice echoed.
Of course Mir was trapped. He was in a prison and was sentenced for life. Seungho had heard rumors that the special forces had found this criminal in a wide field far in Busan, sitting blankly beside an unmarked grave, letting himself being hauled up and into the prison without putting a single fight. Strange... Seungho had considered that maybe this killer had finally grown a bit of conscience in his dark heart.
"He shackles me with those words." Mir continued. "Now I'm trapped." Forever. In this darkness. Still surviving. Not living.
"What words?" Seungho found himself asking without having chance to think.
Mir turned his head from the window to look at Seungho. "To live."
Seungho gasped. How could someone could look so sad without shedding a single tears. How could a pair of eyes looked so empty yet full of hidden stories and emotions at the same time and though Mir hadn't uttered even a single word further, it was as if Seungho heard desperate cries of help coming from the boy. Echoing in the depth of Seungho's mind. And would always haunted him in the future.
