CHAPTER NINETEEN

(Joohyun’s POV)

Kris can’t still come to school. His mother visited to check on his condition.

It’s getting worse.

“Joohyunnie? Are you ready to go?” Chanyeol asked, entering the kitchen where I sat, staring at nothing.

“Y-ye. Kaja.” I stood up and followed him out.

Kris will be fine. Chanyeol said Kris is gonna be well soon and I trust him. I trust Chanyeol. I need to trust him. He’s all I got now. He knows everything. He understands me. I don’t know what I shall do without him…

We reached the school and Chanyeol walked me to my first class.

Chorong was standing by the corridor of our room.

She’s probably waiting for Luhan.

I felt a pang of jealousy.

She tensed and stood straighter when she saw us approaching.

Or maybe, she’s waiting for me?

“J-Joohyun… could I talk to you for a while?” She asked me when we were close enough.

“See you later, baby girl.” Chanyeol smiled sweetly at me, teasing me.

I told him he can’t call me “baby girl”, especially when people could hear. I’ll look like a loser.

Baby girl?! Like eww… But why do I feel weird? My heart’s fluttering… Aish! STOP!

“Yeah, right, baby boy!” I returned.

He made a face at me before he went away.

I turned to face Chorong when Chanyeol disappeared.

“What’s up?” I smiled at her.

I can’t show her how hurt I am, knowing that she’s with Luhan now. I had told her before that it’s fine if she likes him. I told her it has nothing to do with me.

“It’s supposed to be private.” She said and dragged me inside the room.

She led me at the back of the room. She closed the back door and we talked there, isolated from the noise of the room.

(Luhan’s POV)

Minseok and I reached the room of our first class. It was Tuesday morning. We’re on a half-day schedule. I’m planning to relax this afternoon, maybe spend time with Chorong.

I noticed Minseok had been holding the back door’s knob way too long already.

“Wae irae?” I asked him, irritated.

“Shut up!” He whispered leaning closer to the door.

“Eavesdropping?” I raised my eyebrow at him.

“They’re talking about you.” He whispered again.

“Who?” I asked curiously.

“Joohyun and Chorong. Listen.” He replied.

I leaned closer and listened.

“What about him?” Joohyun was asking.

Who’s “him”? Was that supposed to be me?

“Remember what you told me before? About that girl who saved Luhan from drowning in the river?” Chorong asked Joohyun.

How did Joohyun know about that? I never told anyone the whole story.
