The Biography of a Vampire

Myungsoo was dumbstruck. She could resist blood for the moment but what about later?

While Myungsoo was still debating with his thoughts and beliefs, he got immerged into his world and didn’t feel Honbin coming towards him. The noble vampire bent in front of Myungsoo and stared intensely at the younger vampire. With hypnotizing eyes, messy hair and a playful personality, Myungsoo was one typical vampire; he had everything: he was smug, flirty, charming, dangerous, dark and evil but not entirely. To sum it up, Myungsoo wasn’t a bigger threat than he was a few centuries ago.

After he inspected the old threat, Honbin ended up walking to Jina’s house. On the way, he started to remember how Myungsoo waltzed into his house a few nights ago.

It was past midnight and Hongbin was watching TV in his room. His uncle was downstairs, having a drink. Lee Hyunsuk was one old but still hot vampire; he was definitely more mature than Hongbin gave him credit for. Hongbin was enjoying his time home even if his mind would sometimes wonder to Jina. He couldn’t believe that girl is the actual young vampire he fell in love with and broke her heart.

One gust of wind coming from the balcony broke his thoughts. It was weird but he didn’t care much. He got up and closed the doors but when he turned to go back to the bed he came face to face with a troublesome vampire. That vampire was younger than him but still powerful and well taught in the arts of evilness.

“Lee Hongbin. I’ve been waiting for this day to come for a while now,” The stranger started, walking in circles around the older vampire, threateningly yet not so. “You don’t look different at all.” He continued, letting his icy eyes check the elder. “But that doesn’t mean your ways have changed,”

Hongbin only felt the slight change in his demeanor but didn’t expect the younger vampire to punch him in the gut, knocking him over the bed.

“I’ve been waiting to do that for so long,” The younger vampire mumbled, massaging his fist. Hongbin got up carefully but only glared at him. He was a little impressed by the force he had been punched with.

“Who the hell are you?”

The vampire rolled his eyes playfully and smirked.

“Aw. You don’t remember me, of course. We haven’t met before. I’m the ‘human’.” The icy eyed bloodsucker raised his eyebrows and pointed out the quotation marks. Hongbin looked confused.

The truth was that, he never talked to anyone about Jina’s friends, not even with her. It might have been better to meet her first and see how he could pay back what he did to her before meeting a friend of hers who was looking for revenge. Seeing Hongbin’s expression, the younger vampire sighed in disappointment, mostly because he didn’t have time to continue his introduction. He could feel an older vampire walk towards them.

Hyunsuk entered the room holding his head. He had a headache and he needed something to calm it down with.

“Hongbin, where are my-” He stopped when he saw Hongbin on a chair and a mysterious vampire standing in the middle of the room with a scowl. “Oh. You,”

The bloodsucker raised an eyebrow bemusedly and smirked.

“Oh, me. Do I know you?”

Hyunsuk leaned against the door frame and sighed. He could believe that at his age, he had to deal with people from the past he only heard of.

“You’re Kim Myungsoo.” He stated.

“I know this, you know this and now Hongbin found out. Now, your turn,” Myungsoo was clearly in a playful mood, not showing how nervous he was by being around Hyunsuk. That was a bit disrespectful towards the older vampire, whom was feared and known for his malice and questionable torture ways.

“Lee Hyunsuk, Hongbin’s uncle and one of the Order.”

Myungsoo’s eyes widened a little but didn’t seem as impressed as Hongbin wanted.

“Anyway, I’m here to talk to you about Caduceus,” Myungsoo changed his attitude quickly and turned towards Hongbin, who looked emotionless. Once Myungsoo took out a pendant from his jacked and showed it to him, Hyunsuk rushed to his side. “I found it a few days ago in my hotel room in New York while procreating.” Myungsoo said that with the most common tone possible.

“You do know what this is right?” Hyunsuk asked, just in case he was talking to a ignorant vampire.

“Caduceus is the messenger, duh! I do not think I look stupid,” Myungsoo said in a matter-of-fact tone.

“You’d fool me,” Hongbin mumbled, crossing his arms in front of his chest and glaring at Myungsoo, who was pretty much doing the same. The two would be interesting to watch but hard to keep under control, Hyunsuk remarked.

“I’m here because something is coming. Something bad and I know it has something to do with this city.”. Myungsoo raised an eyebrow when he saw how quickly Hongbin’s chin tensed. He realized what was going on quickly. “She’s back, isn’t she? Jina,”

Getting out of the flashback, he also remembered the change in Myungsoo’s behavior when he found out Jina was back. Hongbin could see it; the happiness, the relief yet concern at the same time. Myungsoo was bad news for his relationship with Jina; if there was one anymore. He deserved that in a way since he hurt her and it was annoying to know there was someone who even if he had done a lot of stupid things, he never stopped caring for her.

“It’s dad’s fault. He erased my memories,” He mumbled. Hongbin knew that was just a pretext for guilt.

He was getting close to the house and couldn’t help but feel both excited and scared. He was curious if Jina still accepted him as a mere friend.

Jina didn’t even know what was coming, looking for something to wear when the bell rang. Thankfully, her father was home. While changing in a pair of pajama pants and a black shirt, someone knocked on her door, quite lightly and scared as if she was going to kill him. It wasn’t her father because it sounded more aggravate and it wasn’t Joonyoung because he usually entered without knocking. She finished dressing and opened the door.

“Hongbin,”

She didn’t know what to say or how to react. None knew, as a matter of fact.

“So…what are you doing here? I thought you don’t want to talk to or even be around me,” She started annoyed. For different reasons, but still annoyed.

“I just wanted to protect you. I thought that as long as you stay around me, you would remember. I didn’t want you to hate me again.” He started talking fast. She could barely understand what he was saying.

“Hate? Why would I hate you? I had fun talking to you!”

Hongbin glared at her and walked towards the bed, fidgeting like a teenage boy even when it was clear she wasn’t holding a grudge for something she couldn’t remember fully.

“I knew you’ll have flashbacks of your past. I hurt you enough and I don’t want to do it again.” He explained his voice so soft that a normal human wouldn’t hear.

“Hongbin, what happened in the past stays in the past. I won’t judge you. I killed a lot of people, too. People we cared for and I’s m sorry. I’m sorry I killed your brother, I’m sorry I killed my parents and I’m sorry I killed Hana.”

“I don’t think you regret the last bit,” He mumbled, making her chuckle softly.

Suddenly, she felt like he could use a hug so she hugged him. They stayed there like statues with no idea how to react or how to go on from there. In the end, he wrapped his hands around her and pulled her closer. She closed her eyes and sighed happily. It felt like she fit perfectly in his arms.

“I’m sorry,” He mumbled in her hair.

“It’s ok,” They broke the hug and smiled. “Things changed. We changed. We’ll just take things from zero. All of us.”

He nodded and for the first time in a while, Lee Hongbin genuinely felt happy.

“So, how was training?” Hongbin started after the atmosphere became comfortable.

“Fine, I guess. He dragged me into a clearing and attacked me. I got him to kneel in front of me. It was incredible,” She looked down at her hands. It still didn’t feel real. “I had so much power running through me and my mind went blank for a few minutes.” Those were the best words she could come up with. It was hard to express how real that power felt.

“Well, you are crazy,” She chuckled. Those simple words meant a lot more.

“I guess I am. I did cause a lot of deaths, right?”

That was right. She caused a whole massacre and unfortunately, it didn’t stop in South Korea.

While Hongbin and Jina started bounding again, Joonyoung wasn’t feeling too good in his own skin. some time he felt different, now that he knew he’s a vampire made everything seem more complicated. He reacted different than his sister, to blood. His senses were catching up to him. Trying to keep his mind off for a while he went to the only place he used to while having problems: the bar.

"Double tequila.” The bartender looked sceptically at the boy but got his drink.

That’s how the night progressed for Joonyoung; a shot, after another and another and another. Even the bartender was surprised how well Joonyoung was reacting to alcohol. He wasn’t drunk, not even a little. While still being in hi world, Soyou walked inside with a few friends. She noticed him immediately and blushed but this was her only chance to talk to him alone.

“Hello!”

Joonyoung turned his head and tried to smile at whoever came. It didn’t go as he wished and his smile looked more like a scowl.

“Oh, Soyou. What are you doing here?”

“A couple of friends wanted to hang out. I promised I will tag along and here I am.” She smiled, happy with the conversation.

But Joonyoung wasn’t in the mood yet didn’t want to shoo her away. She has always been sweet and innocent and she was Jina’s friend, which weighted a lot for him.

“Innocence,” Joonyoung mumbled, feeling something inside switch.

His brain started working overdrive. It wasn’t the drink, no, it was something much more powerful. It was blood. He could hear her pulse, which wasn’t too hard because she was very close to him. He couldn’t deny the easy prey he had in front and tried reasoning with his desire but who was he trying to stop?! He needed it!

Then, out of nowhere everything stopped, his conscious more exactly. Everything turned off.

“Do you want a drink, Soyou? I’ll pay.”

Soyou looked closely at her crush, a little perplexed but nodded nonetheless. How could she refuse, anyway? Joonyoung was a vampire; he had a charm that no boy could compare with. When her drink came, she titled her head to one side, showing a small part of her neck. Unconsciously, he his lips. When she turned her head back smiling, Joonyoung got out of his trance and smirked. The girl instantly blushed.

Meanwhile, Hongbin and Jina were the happiest they could get. It was dawn and they couldn’t figure how the time passed so fast. Jina made Hongbin cook with her and surprisingly, he wasn’t that bad. When it was time to leave -or more like when Jina’s father dragged Hongbin to the door in a professional way- both vampires felt something weird. None commented but it was quite intense; like a bad omen.

When Jina opened the door to her room, she saw Myungsoo with one of her bras in his hands. She walked to her dresser annoyed and took it out from his grasp before putting it back.

“It was nice. I like red.” Myungsoo commented bemusedly. Jina rolled her eyes and jumped on her bed.

“You finally woke from Wonderland?” He raised an eyebrow and jumped on her bed, too. “You completely spaced out in the forest.”

“Had fun with Hongbin?” He changed the subject, her attention span being the same as always.

A smile graced her lips instantly, remembering how perfect the day has been. Myungsoo raised an eyebrow and crossed his hands behind his head, looking quite annoyed even if he opened up the subject.

“I guess so,”

“I was a bit worried when I realized you weren’t there anymore,” Myungsoo mumbled, his eyes staring at the wall. Jina chuckled and her side, to look better at him.

“I thought vampires don’t care?” Jina trailed, completely aware that he was acting a bit soft.

“I don’t give a about your friends, hell I don’t give a damn about anyone except you.” Well, that was more sincere than she expected.

“And Joonyoung.” She continued. That was the moment he finally turned his head towards her.

“Joonyoung is a big boy. He’s older than me and you so why would I care what he does or what happens to him?”

Jina put a finger on her lower lip and concentrated to find a good answer. For Myungsoo, his attention completely shifted on her lip and couldn’t help but gulp.

“Sometimes, it’s good not to think. It saves time and knowledge.” He mumbled, seeing how he couldn’t take his eyes off her lips.

“What if he kills someone?” She asked suddenly, his eyes rising quickly to her eyes.

“And what if he does? I did and nothing happened.”

“And what if the police finds out vampires live here? And what if they find out who these vampires are?” She was thinking too much and venturing her pretty head to details that weren’t needed.

“People would think is some sadistic cult, Dracula’s lovers. No one believes that vampires are real,”

“Can vampires transform in bats? That’s how you always come in my room?” She asked innocently, making him cough and choke while trying his best not to laugh.

“I kind of saw it coming. It’s the only thing you didn’t ask yet.” He said looking down at her chuckling. “We can’t. I mean, actually I never tried.” He raised an eyebrow and looked deep in thought. “You could try. I’ll put this on the list.”

“The list? What list?”

“What-should-I-make-Jina-do or more originally, Myungsoo says list.” His eyes widened a bit and he hovered over her. “Right now, Myungsoo says to spend tomorrow with him. Of course until you go to that stupid girl association,” He mumbled the last part, still not sure what exactly that was.

“Sleep over. It’s a sleep over.” He nodded, acting like he cared.

“Right. That’s when girls plan on destroying the male specie.”

Jina threw a pillow at him and laughed.

“True. You’re too many. We need to get rid of a few.” She continued jokingly.

“From my point of view you can do anything you want. Less stupid and hormonal human males,” He raised his finger and pointed to himself. ”More me!” He continued moving his eyebrows up and down.

“Yeah. I bet you screwed every girl you found hot.” Jina joked yet didn’t expect him to suddenly become serious.

“Almost done.” He whispered in the most serious tone she ever heard. Jina rolled her eyes and pushed him off her.

“You man-!” She screamed, Myungsoo only faking a sad face. It didn’t last too much, though.

“You hurt my feelings. I should punish you.” That look in his eyes was fiery as he said that. His black eyes darkened even more and narrowed slightly.

“So captivating,” She whispered, slowly reaching out her hand to touch his face.

“I know you are but what am I?” He whispered, leaning in. She raised an eyebrow and pushed him hard, making him roll until he fell on the ground. “Hey! That wasn’t very nice.”

Jina chuckled and ran to the door but he got there before her. She turned and ran to the balcony. She was still running to the door and jumped on the bed to get there easier. Surprisingly, Myungsoo didn’t use his speed anymore. He was between the bed and the door so she tried to flash there but he caught her.

They were both chuckling, his grip around her tightening. He pulled her close to his chest and leaned in before he whispered, “Stupid,”

“I know you are but what am I?” Jina used the same scheme he did.  He narrowed his eyes at her playfully and threw her on the bed, with average power since he didn’t want to hurt her.

Unlike the time spent with Hongbin, which was a bit awkward at times and incredibly surreal other times, spending time with Myungsoo was making Jina feel free to say or do anything.
