And I think you're not fully released all the statement. GD was ask to choose between SHINee and EXO, and he choose SHINee, because they're atleast have members that compose their own music.
I'm not a VIP and yeah I actually disappointed with GD's answer. He's so full of himself. The answer could've been better. He ofc can't compare YG system with SM. You know that SM mostly not allowing their Idol to realease their own compose song (at that time, maybe only Henry and Jonghyun that succeed to released their own song), but nowadays with SM STATION many SM idols allowed to release their own songs. Meanwhile YG always want their Idols to make their own songs, especially for their boyband. You can see the difference. 1. SM didnt trust their idols yet, but they willing to spent money on other composers. Not only that, most of times SM hire composer that ever worked with western singer and obviously it cost a lot.
