Sequel - Side Story 1
Rain of BladesSide story 1.
A/N: So this is a side story because there were things that although they didn’t affect the plot directly, I had planned and for some reason I didn’t get to put them into the story. So I’ll write small side stories for you to know certain things, mostly about the past of Kyuhyun and Hyukjae.
……………………………………………………………………..
Hyukjae yawned as he rested against the rail in front of him. The training area was completely covered in a think glass because Kyuhyun’s parents used to see how their sons trained. “Is it good?”
Hyukjae smiled as he saw Mrs. Cho standing by his side, also looking at how Kangin and Kyuhyun trained together. “It is,” he smiled wider. “I didn’t know Kyuhyun could manipulate shadows as well.”
“Ah, he learnt that after Kangin started mocking him,” Mrs. Cho giggled softly. “He kept on making Kangin’s shadow to hit itself and as the shadow is a mirror of one self, Kangin also hit himself as well, he really got furious at that.”
“But Kangin can turn off is powers,” Hyukjae said. “Isn’t it?”
“Yeah, but not that one,” Mrs. Cho said before the smile on her face disappeared. “Kyuhyun can also control Kangin’s power so now it’s almost impossible for anyone to be able to influence on him.”
“Because he can control the darkness everyone’s possesses,” Hyukjae nodded for himself. “I learnt so much from him… how did he knew all about his powers? I had a hard time understanding mine and it was mostly because he helped me.”
Mrs. Cho sighed softly before looking at Kyuhyun, laughing loudly as he merged into the darkness to appear behind Kangin and hit the back of his head mockingly. She smiled faintly before turning starting to talk once more. “His mother taught him,” she said and Hyukjae couldn’t help himself but gasp loudly, turning towards the woman by his side only to turn once more towards Kyuhyun, not knowing how exactly act at the news he had gotten. “Haven’t you heard the rumors?” The woman asked. “That he’s a bastard?”
Hyukjae bit his lower lip and looked at Kyuhyun, now laughing because Kangin couldn’t catch him. “I heard about it…,” he admitted. “But the Lee’s never allowed a bastard to live freely. They were not family for us, they were nothing… I always thought it was like that for everyone else.”
Mrs. Cho smiled softly and shook his head. “His mother was a beautiful lady that captivated my husband’s heart,” she admitted, looking down for only a second. “Truth is, I was also a little captivated by her by the time and it never occurred to me that a baby would get out from that…,” she sighed softly. “Her mother was a human… completely human. She worked for us, but we always treated her as family…,” she turned towards Hyukjae and smiled. “In this family, everyone matters the same, no matter where they come from.”
Hyukjae smiled softly and looked down. It was still hard for him to understand the Cho’s. He had grown up believing they were the bad people and although he did get what they meant with their beliefs, he couldn’t quite catch the equality they talked about.
“She gave birth to Kyuhyun, but we announced it as ours… Darkness was his power but we didn’t know until a few weeks later when suddenly, he got sick when exposed to the sunlight and his blankets were completely dark when we got to check on him,” Mrs. Cho chuckled softly, remembering the days when Kyuhyun was only a baby. “He was adorable, a total mess and demanding child, but adorable, after all,” she finally let out a soft laugh. “When he was only a few years old, he already managed to get the whole room dark when he felt sad. We knew he would be a dangerous person ever since then,” she smiled. “But it was his mother the one who taught him things about himself.”
“But she was human,” Hyukjae couldn’t understand. “How could she teach something she had no idea what it was?” He asked. “I- I don’t understand,” he admitted. “She had no powers, no abilities… how could she teach him so much?”
“You see, Hyukjae,” Mrs. Cho turned towards him with a soft smile. “Humans have n
