Two days have passed since the first day in the dorms and Alyse was right. You do get used to it. It's strangely comforting being in nothing but silence and occasionally whispering to Kai as we play games or have our own time. "It's only one more day before we can leave right?", I asked Kai.
 

"No, it's probably going to be a few more days since it looks like the people up there haven't left. Alyse didn't give a signal either, so it could be a bit longer. But don't worry, it'll be over before you know it". Kai was in the middle of doing some mental training. His mental training looked more like trying to look at the wall and go cross-eyed at the same time. I don't know what about him doing that irked me so bad. I just wanted to throw something at him or do something so he can stop that. Thanks to the amount of bagged snacks I brought with me, I could always throw some Fritos at him. 'That's too mean', I thought. 

I just looked at my opened Fritos, wondering about what to do. There's nothing to do in here and I'm stuck in here for maybe a couple of more days. Standing up, I walked over to Kai and waved my hand in his face. "Kai", I whined, "stop doing that cross-eyed stuff it's bothering me". He didn't move at all. 'Maybe he's in some kind of trance'? "Hey", I snapped my fingers close to his eyes. Immediately, he made his eyes go back to normal and just gave me an angry glare.

"Why do you do this? Why can't you just stay quiet for 5 hours", he said. He stood up to look me in my eye.

"Because that's exactly it! It's been 5 hours!", I countered. "I don't know how you can sit there for that long doing that thing with yours eyes and not want to stand up or walk around."

"Okay, calm down", he said calmly, "I'm sorry". I, Leela, was taken aback instantly by his apology. 

"Wow. You're not going to argue with me for disturbing you?", I asked.

"No. that would be stupid. We have to stay in here a little longer so causing trouble isn't going to help neither of us out. So for now, let's try not to get on each other's nerves", he sighed. Kai looked like he sincerely meant it.

"Alright, truce", I held out my hand for him to shake it. He took my hand and shook it tiredly.

"Truce". We both headed back to our beds on separate sides of the dorm and just rested. he laid his head on the pillow as if he were going to sleep. Maybe he was going to do his mental training again but facing the wall so I wouldn't have to see it.

A moment passed by and I still couldn't help but feel antsy. "Hey Kai", I whispered. Kai grumbled a weak "yes". 

"Do I really get on your nerves that much?"

He his bed to face me. "No. Sometimes I know it's because you're genuinely curious about something, or I deserved it or something. Sometimes it's because I want confrontation". I didn't answer as I nodded my head. "Sometimes I know it's because I know you're hiding something".

"Hiding what?'

"Hiding information about your past and where you come from".

"Why do you need to know all that, if I'm down here with other people who are hiding from the law. No one else in your computer gave you their personal reasons for living down here besides the general fugitives and runaways answer".

"Because no one else in the world has a gold birthmark like yours that, from what I've seen, somehow reflects in the sunlight and makes wounds and cuts disappear, Leela".
