Part 2
The Interviews (A Skydragon/Sunsky Story)We hear talking outside the studio and I know our time is up. I sigh and roll my eyes at the intrusion, but I push him away and fix my hair to hide what we've just done.
"Jiyongie, let's go to the cafeteria together! I'm starving." Kiko barges in the studio and whines about her empty stomach.
If I'm not mistaken, he rolls his eyes and exhales. She annoys him too. Kiko stares at the soundbooth and narrows her eyes at the sight of the two of us crammed in the little space.
"What are you two doing?" Suspicion laces her words.
"We...we were recording..." Jiyong stutters.
"A duet?"
"Yeah, right. Yes, a duet."
"Can I listen to it?" She's quicker than I thought.
"It probably sounds bad," I say.
"It probably sounds good," she answers.
What do we do?! I stare at Jiyong with wide eyes and he stares back.
"Kiko, why don't you record a song with me?" He asks. Oh, no.
"Me? Why? I can't sing."
"Chaerin can tell us if it's good."
I walk past him and out of the booth, breathing fresh air.
Kiko hesitantly walks inside the booth and while, Jiyong tells her about the song, a growing sensation of regret fills the void in my heart. He holds her hand and smiles at her. He acts like nothing happened.
She belts out a few notes off-key and I pretend I'm editing the song. After an hour of excruciating notes, she leaves us alone to go to the bathroom.
