A best friend is like a four leaf clover, hard to find and lucky to have.
After that long sleepless night, my mom, Dahae woke me up early for an emergency meeting with a simple text. 'You are needed here, be here at 7AM', as if I was one of her employees.
"Mom, I want to go home!” I shriek which she just rolled her eyes. It's been two hours since I first announced that I was going to leave. I just want her to know that I had a life before she dragged me here to New York. I was studying along side with Krystal, both seniors in college with the same classes.
She replied dismisively that in six months I would graduate anyway probably because she paid my school. Great right? But not to me, I mean my best friend don't call me stupid for no reason but it's okay, it is the truth. Unlike Krystal, who seemed to pass anything that was thrown at her, my grades remained relatively low, dissappointing mother dear again.
I sometimes wonder if my mom think of me as a human or a robot, I mean I am still a person that needs help at times.
Her back is an all too familiar sight, it's always been like this whenever we attended social gatherings, always staring down her artificial golden locks, her tall figure and petite body. I still wonder how people spotted a resemblance between us, perhaps rewind the dial on the botox injections then she'd look a lot less than a barbie and little more like me.
“Shut up. Have you seen Rebeca? She's bad at walking, she's just a twig in heels,” Oh, how I try to stop myself from laughing, from all the people I could've hear that from, it has to be from my mother, who's stick thin figure is much like my step sister's. Luckily I didn't inherit her figure, I can eat whatever I want to because I have my super power: my fast metabolism.
