CHAPTEr sixteen 

"What was she thinking?" Aera screamed in frustration after shaking the door's lock. To her dismay, it didn’t budge even an inch.

Kai just sat quietly as he watched the black-haired girl with amusement. How in the world could this girl act as if she really hated being here if she was the one who planned it all along in the first place? 

"Do you mind helping me get out of here, ?" she snapped. Her body trembled with all the emotions that flooded inside her. 

“Who are you trying to fool, little girl?” He retorted without a blink. What a scheming , he thought.

She kicked the door again with too much force, but still, nothing happened. It just made a creaking sound and that was it. Aera braced herself for Kai’s never-ending insults, but they never came. He just clicked his tongue in annoyance. Was she hallucinating? Was she locked up with the wrong person? “You won’t speak?” she asked.

“About what?” he asked sharply, as he was getting mad. “Are you so bored that you really went this low, Han Aera? I’m telling you, Sehun won’t fall for this.” 

“I told you, this wasn’t my plan!” she answered while stomping her feet.

Kai grabbed the flashlight while shaking his head and started to observe the place. It was unusual for him to be sensitive to other’s feeling, but he remembered the last time he saw Aera. She almost cried, and her body trembled as she tried to stop her tears. She was so broken that day that she refused to fight back. She hurt Naeun physically, but in the end she was the one leaving with a scar. “Let’s pretend that this wasn’t a failure. What will happen next? Sehun will talk to you and eventually fall for you?” he couldn’t help but laugh. It was absurd! Guys don't change their mind that easily.

“You’re wrong! I don’t want to talk to that idiot right now!” Aera screamed, unable to hold her emotions. Whenever Sehun’s name was mentioned, she became all fed up. He hurt her physically because of that fugly Naeun. “Don’t you ever mention that name, or I’ll kill you!” 

Kai straightened up and looked at a fuming Aera. He was somehow relieved that the girl was finally back to her normal self.

She remained silent, but then she sighed and wrapped her arms around her knees. “I’m hungry…. I’m scared.” she said in a low voice. If he wasn't near her, he wouldn’t have been able to hear it. Yet, he did, and he was getting worried.

“What are you afraid of? I’m not a killer or a , Aera,” he replied softly.
