Break Your Heart
Chapter 2 – Hyun’s POV
‘You pity me, isn’t it? It’s because I’ve never had a boyfriend before, that’s why you’re agreeing to the idea of being together now.’ I said sadly, trying hard to control my emotions that were threatening to show anytime.
Hyukjae shook his head and furrowed his eyebrows, ‘Where did you get that idea from?! I mean, Hyun, the reason why I don’t want to be in this ‘trial’ relationship with you is because I know how I am. I can’t be faithful to someone now and it goes the same for you, no matter how close you’re in my heart. I can’t afford to go into this trial relationship thing just because of my selfish thoughts of wanting to get rid of her in my mind and use you. But since you really want to experience how relationship feels like, I guess I could make ways.’
‘But will you still go around flirting with other girls if you’re in a trial relationship with me? And will you be serious in this though…?’ I asked with a knotted forehead, making Hyukjae ponder for awhile. ‘Well… I guess I won’t.’ He said hesitantly before continuing, ‘But if I know that you’re falling in love with me, I’ll stop this whole thing, araso?’
I nodded in agreement, but can’t help feeling sad over it. Lee Hyukjae, I’m already in love with you even before this relationship thing started, you pabo! I shouted it out inside my mind.
‘So… now our status is like… boy and girlfriends?’ I asked cautiously for confirmation. Hyukjae then gave me his gummy smile, nodding as he put an arm around my shoulder, holding me closer to him, ‘Of course. You better not cheat on me from now onwards.’ He said teasingly as I blushed at our closeness and hit his arm playfully.
And from then on, we started going out like how couples did. We did everything that the normal couples would do, we held hands, cuddle, hug each other and so much more. Although it was awkward in the start, well for me, since we’ve been best of friends for so long and it would be kind of weird if we started doing intimate stuff, but it’s a good thing that Hyukjae wasn’t really awkward about things like that since he was used to it and he guided me along the way like how a real boyfriend would do.
Our parents are good friends with each other too, but we decided that we should keep mum about this trial relationship thing since it wasn’t serious, for Hyukjae I might add in. But I think we’ve been too close to the extent that it isn’t the kind of close with best friends anymore and so our parents kind of have suspicions about our status. It was a good thing they didn’t question us too much though since Hyukjae wouldn’t really like it.
‘Hey Hae oppa! What’s up?’ I answered cheerfully to the person on the other side of the phone. I recently got to know Donghae in university which Hyukjae didn’t continue since he went on with his dancing career. He’s a really nice guy, kind of blur but oh well, you can actually call that cute. I often hang out with him after school whenever Hyukjae isn’t free to do so. ‘Well, I was wondering if you’re free today? Can we hang out or something?’ He asked hesitantly, not sure if I would accept it or not. ‘Um, well, I’m so sorry oppa. I’m not free for today, maybe we’ll hang out after school tomorrow or something? I’ll confirm with you again okay?’ I rejected him politely but I think I heard him sigh softly.
‘Ah, it’s okay! I was just bored and all. Anyway, Hyun, enjoy your day! I’ll see you tomorrow!’ He said happily, making me feeling all guilty in rejecting him. We said our goodbyes and hung up the phone but then Hyukjae suddenly looked at me with a blank expression.
‘Who was it? Hae oppa? How come I don’t know him?’ He interrogated me while making me sit on his chair and placed his arms by the sides of me, not allowing me to go anywhere. I smiled and cupped his cheeks, ‘Oppa, he’s just a friend of mine in the university. He’s a really nice guy though. If you met him, you’ll probably like him.’
‘A friend? What kind of friend? How close are the both of you?’ He ignored what I was saying and continued asking.
