Chapter 12
Donghae patted her back and laughed, ‘I just wish you’ll be genuinely happy one day. I hate seeing your fake smile. It breaks my heart.’ He said as he savour this precious moment that might not happen again. They then pulled away from the hug after awhile and smiled. Donghae suddenly frowned and asked, ‘Wait. We’re still friends, right? I’m still your best friend right?’ I won’t take ‘no’ as an answer though.’
Hyun chuckled at Donghae’s silliness, showing her eye smile unconsciously. She hit his arm playfully, ‘You’ll never be able to get away from being my best friend. So don’t even think about it!’ The two of them were laughing and joking around happily but they didn’t know that someone around the street has seen them hugging and then laughing around, not only that, he felt jealous and bitter about it.
‘But, let’s just put all joking matters aside. Oppa, to tell you the truth, I’ve been researching on New York Design Academy and you should know how much I love fashion design and all, so well… I’m considering to head over there next month since… I really want to start all over again and I know staying here isn’t a solution. So, this plan makes me gain in both ways…’ Hyun told Donghae seriously. Donghae’s eyes were widened and his jaws dropped.
‘Next month is like another week’s time! And you’re only telling me now?!’ Donghae exclaimed, feeling unbelievable about it. Hyun looked down guiltily and smiled sheepishly, ‘Sorry oppa, but I haven’t confirmed about it yet! That’s why I kept mum about it!’ She reasoned out, trying to defend herself.
Donghae rolled his eyes, feeling betrayed because she only informed him now. He crossed his arms and pouted sadly. ‘Well, so you’re really going?’ He asked to confirm. Hyun nodded but later added on, ‘Well… I might actually stay if someone asks me to. But chances of that happening are pretty low.’ She shrugged. ‘The someone isn’t me, right? If it is, everything would be so much easier.’ Donghae commented jokingly even though he meant it.
Hyun chuckled and then looked over at her watch, suddenly exclaiming nervously, ‘Oh my god! Hae oppa, I’m so sorry but I have to go now!’ I’m supposed to have dinner with my parents 15 minutes later and yet I’m still here! I got to go!’
She stood up and jogged over to the roadside with Donghae following behind her. He then hired a cab for her, opening the door and let her in. ‘Quick, get in before you’re late!’ He said, gesturing her to get into the car. ‘Thank you oppa.’ Hyun said before giving Donghae a goodbye hug and then went into the cab. ‘Bye oppa! See you tomorrow!’ She shouted over cheerfully as the cab drive off. Donghae was about to hire another cab when he saw a pair of eyes glaring at him.
If looks could kill, Donghae would probably be killed there right on the spot.
Hyukjae and Donghae are now seated in the café nearby since Donghae ran across the street and invited him for a coffee which Hyukjae accepted. ‘Congrats uh…’ Hyukjae said sarcastically before taking a sip of his ice chocolate. Donghae frowned in confusion, ‘Congrats? On what?’ He asked, making Hyukjae scoffed, ‘Stop pretending. Aren’t you and Hyunnie together now? You must be really happy now uh? I knew you were interested in her then.’
He wanted to say it as normally as it could sounds since his ego was too big to admit that he’s jealous of the guy sitting right in front of him but to no avail. Donghae laughed as he thought it was really funny how Hyukjae mistaken both of them as couple. He the leaned back to his seat, ‘Yeah, I wish you would congrats me for this reason, but apparently it’s the total opposite.’
Hyukjae was confused on what he was trying to say then Donghae continued as he smiled bitterly, ‘I confessed but she rejected me.’
This chapter is....
