The convict

Can you keep a secret?

By closing time that evening the relief running through Yixing was ten fold. Not only had he managed to get through another shift but by some given miracle, managed to get through a shift with a mad man hiding in the storage room not being discovered. How he managed to pull that off, and not have anyone become suspicious, was beyond him.

It also meant that as soon as everyone else was gone and Yixing had closed the place up, he only had to let the person out of the room, send them on their way and pray that they didn't change their mind and end up shooting him...

"I'll be glad to get home" Luhan grumbled, cleaning the last of the tables and placing the chairs on top
"Why? Last minute essay that needs doing?" Yixing asked raising an eyebrow, knowing the boy all to well.

"No, well, maybe. It's just a re draft though, something that will take me not even twenty minutes to do!" Luhan replied grabbing his belongings, and the cheeky slice of cake whilst he was at it being caught red handed by Yixing.

"Will you please stop doing that! Especially after what I found this morning!" he exclaimed, slapping Luhan's hands away before he could grab anything else
"I tell you the same everytime though Xing" Luhan began, making his way to the door.

"And plus I've worked very hard today! Not to mention all the work I have to do when I get home, so I believe I've earned at least one treat" and with a wink, exited the bakery, Yixing following swiftly behind to flip the sign to close and finally lock up. Now all he had to do was set the person in the cupboard on his way. Shouldn't be that hard.

~

"You're clear to come out now" Yixing muttered opening the door to the room and stepping aside, sinking as far as he could into the wall as the guy stepped out and stretched his muscles.

Now Yixing was able to get a good look at him. Tall, long black hair that needed a haircut and had to be washed, dark-ish skin and eyes that looked like they could pierce the skin and look into anyone's soul. The guy looked terrifying, nobody would want to mess with him anytime soon that was for sure!

"You escaped from the prison nearby, didn't you?" Yixing asked, eyeing up the orange uniform the guy was wearing
"Indeed I did" the guy replied and the realisation was quick to hit Yixing.

"You're that escaped convict... t-the one that was mentioned on the radio this morning" he said and this time, a grin appeared on the guys face
"Wu Yifan's the name, but I guess you already know that" he replied. Well great. For the whole day, Yixing had been hiding a convicted murderer in his workplace who could have happily come out and killed anyone if he wanted to!

But that didn't happen. So, Yixing didn't dwell on the thought for much longer.

"Everyone is gone now, you can le-"
"I've been doing some thinking" Yifan interrupted taking a look at Yixing, at how terrified he looked, he was actually enjoying this a bit too much.

"I need a good place to hide. The police are out searching for me and I'm pretty sure by now an arrest warrant is up with a pretty hefty price for my head. I need to hide somewhere they'll never suspect, somewhere they'll never bother to look. So it's your job to hide me".

He was kidding, right? How the heck was he expecting Yixing to just agree to hiding him? Especially after holding a gun up to his neck!

"You want me to hide you?" Yixing asked
"Well, isn't that what I just said?" Yifan replied, was he really going to do this?

"B-but I have nowhere for you to hide! A-and I can't keep you in the storage room all this time! W-where else is there to hide you?" Yixing asked watching Yifan shrug
"Think of somewhere. I can't think of everything you know! In fact, I've already done the hardest part; breaking out" he replied.

"Why should I help you when all you've done so far is break into the bakery and hold a gun up to me?" Yixing asked. Watching Yifan's face change, Yixing made a quick mental note to himself to just shut up at the right moments. Otherwise he was just going to get himself into even stickier situations than what he had done previously.

"You're right, I did break into your bakery and from the looks of how you're always flinching away from me, you're also afraid of me. Correct? You're also right about another thing" he said, once again pulling out the gun.

"I also have a gun. Now unless you want it held up against you again and for your co-workers to come into work and find a nasty surprise waiting for them, I suggest you get moving and help me out as quickly as you can".

~

The car ride to Yixing's house was a quiet matter. Understandably.

With the threat of being killed, Yixing could only take Yifan to the first place that popped into his head; his place. It was a crazy idea but it was also a good idea. Yifan wanted to hide somewhere in which the police wouldn't be able to find him. What were the chances of the police doing a raid on his place to find the guy?

The car ride had also been the time in which Yifan had been his most silent. Opting for the back seat, he spent most of the journey looking out the window at the passing scenary. Yixing didn't want to ruin this moment of peace, but from the moment Yifan got into the car, it was an issue he just had to bring up.

"When we get back to mine, you're having a shower" he said finally turning Yifan's attention away from the window
"You're hiding me in your house?" he asked, something which he probably should have done, especially when Yixing stopped at a red light and turned to glare at him.

"Look mister, you wanted me to hide you somewhere, right? Are the police going to be raiding my place anytime soon to find you? No, so if you want to remain hidden I suggest you stay greatful that I'm actually doing this for you" he said, turning his attention back to the road at the light turned green and he began driving, the two of them once again descending into silence.

'I don't smell that bad' Yifan though, slowly leaning in to take a whiff of himself.

"I don't smell too bad" he muttered, turning his attention back to the passing scenary
"You stink" Yixing replied, ignoring the looks the other was shooting him, willing the car in front of him to go faster so he didn't have to put up with much more of this...

Dun, dun, dun...

I'm enjoying this. Particularly writing about Yixing's and Yifan's interactions so early on in this! I think it's cute... in a weird way... Ah well!

Until the next chapter!
