Escape

Can you keep a secret?

He was dirty, he was hungry, he was free

Now that he had managed to get away, he had to make sure he got as far away from the place as he possibly could. In a matter of minutes the police would be out searching for him and there was no doubt that by the morning the news of his breakout would be all over the press. With the amount of interest that was around at the time of his arrest, when people got wind that he was no longer behind bars, things were going to get crazy!

Which was why he needed to hide. If he was going to avoid getting caught again, plus the burning desire to make sure he never went back, picking a good hiding place was crucial.

That wouldn't be too hard, he guessed, he just had to make sure that nobody saw him and ratted him to the police. He didn't have to worry too much about that that though; he had all the ammunition he needed to make sure that people kept quiet about his whereabouts.

What he turned his attention to now was shutting his stomach up. Skipping out on food to effectively carry out his escape, his stomach was now paying the price for it. If anything, right now he was more concerned about getting something to eat rather than finding somewhere to hide- he was desperate for even the tiniest pieces of food!

Then his eyes landed on the bakery. The bakery which, if memory served him correct, had food that was kept away in some storage area for the next day. It would be easy to break into! If he could escape from prison, he could break into a bakery half the size of all the other shops in the area. Breaking in from the front though would leave obvious tell tale signs for the owner of the place. Breaking into the place from the back though would be a different matter.

The shrieking from his alarm signalled to Yixing that today was a start of a new day. A day that would be exactly the same as yesterday and the day before that. He would have to get up at seven in the morning, have a shower, quick breakfast and then make his way to work. After work he would come home, sometimes head to the dance studio if it was a Wednesday, and then come home and get ready to do it all again the next day.

Boring!

But what else was there to do? Even though the city was vast and many people lived there, it was the same old cycle of life that Yixing had fallen into and could see himself not escaping from anytime soon.

With a resounding sigh, Yixing got out of bed and gathered up his clothes and towells he had prepared the previous night. Everyday Yixing wished that something, even if it was the tiniest of things, that something different happened. That whatever it was threw his normal life cycle of balance and completely caught him by surprise. He didn't care what it was, he just wanted some spice in his life!

Perhaps by some miracle today would be the day.

A huge manhunt is underway for convicted murderer Wu Yifan. The man in question escaped from prison in the early hours of this morning. If seen, police have asked people not to approach him but to call the 24 hour hotline as soon as possible. Wu was convicted of murder in 2008, having escaped the de-

Yixing didn't need to hear that first thing in the morning. Especially because he was on his way to work and didn't want to have to worry about the possibility of an escaped murderer possibly lurking around near him.

Yixing worked in the bakery fifteen minutes away from where he lived. Twenty five if he walked. It served as a bakery and a cafe and though small in size, proved to be a perfect place for people to sit down with a cake or two and talk amongst other things. With the country currently in winter, it also proved the perfect place for people to come, sit down with a hot chocolate or two and warm themselves up before facing the cold air once again.

The place didn't open until 9:30 in the morning, but one could almost guarantee that Yixing would be there by 8:15. This gave him enough time to clean up wherever his co-worker, Luhan, had missed the previous evening. It also gave him time to set out the menu's, put the appropriate cakes up on display and make the place overall look neat and tidy before switching the sign on the door from closed to open. He always had his boss wondering how the heck he managed to do all of that every morning.

Upon entering the bakery, Yixing usually started the day by cleaning down all the tables and chairs. If it was Luhan who had cleaned them the previous night, then Yixing was sure that there were spots where he had missed or tables he had just completely skipped out on in order to leave earlier. Today was no exception.

After thoroughly making sure that everything was clean and up to his standards, Yixing would then head on into the back. There he would find everything that had been prepared the previous evening which he would put out on display for customers to ponder over before making their final decisions.

"Has that boy been snacking on these again?" Yixing muttered to himself, holding a cake up to find one of the slices missing.

A regular occurrence at the bakery this was. Every so often Yixing would come in to find that Luhan had sneakily eaten a slice or two of one of the many cakes that were on offer. Many times had Yixing told him to stop, but Luhan's answer was always the same;

"If the customers get to have a slice, then I don't see why I shouldn't have the same rights as them"

How Yixing hadn't slapped the boy upright on the head yet was beyond him

"And he ate these as well?" Yixing shrieked this time, noticing that half of the stuff that had been prepared the previous night were now gone. That was it. As soon as Luhan came into work to start his shift later on in the day, Yixing was going to have some serious words with him. This was getting ridiculous now.

For the meantime though, Yixing could only grumble insults at the boy behind his back, picking up whatever was left and bringing it to the front ready for customers to select from.

~

Yixing was the only one in the bakery. He was sure of it.

Nobody else could come through the entrance because the sign had yet to be opened. If his boss had come through the back, then Yixing would have heard the door open and then close. Yixing had been the only one to enter the bakery so far, that much he was sure of.

If that was the case, then how come Yixing had just seen the shadow of a figure run across the floor from the back room of the bakery?

And with that, the first chapter is up!

I was unsure on how I was going to start this fic. Then I began writing and now that I read over this, I'm actually quite pleased with how this chapter actually panned out. What about you guys?

Until the next chapter!
