The great escape

Can you keep a secret?

Yixing hated to think about it, but up until the point of the documentary, he thought that he and Yifan were actually making progress. No longer did he feel that he was just an innocent citizen forced to hide a convict in his home, nope, he felt that as the days slowly wore on that he and Yifan had slowly become acquaintances.

Then of course Yixing just had to go snooping around his laptop, and Yifan just had to have one of his mood swings to find themselves back at square one; Yifan treating Yixing as cold as he did the first few days he started hiding in the place and Yixing was living in constant silent treatment.

On a number of ocassions he would come home to find Yifan sat on the floor. Around him, there would be Yixing's laptop with something new upon it every day, sheets of paper scattered around the floor with writing on it; some intelligable to the human eye and some scribbled out or with spelling mistakes. Yixing would try to ask him what he was doing, but he was met with Yifan completely ignoring him and muttering something in Cantonese that Yixing couldn't understand.

Maybe the idiot was insulting him. It seemed highly likely.

"I don't think I've ever seen you come into work this... down, before" Luhan commented as Yixing sighed and slumped in behind the till
"Yifan is being a , as usual. See, in the beginning this didn't bother me at all... why is it bothering me so much now?" he asked, Luhan studying him for a second before he began smiling.

"What?" Yixing asked but Luhan didn't answer him. Instead he attempted to go back to work with the smile still etched across his face, if it wasn't for Yixing grabbing his arm and stopping him from doing so.

"Why are you smiling like that?" Yixing asked as Luhan sighed
"You're so clueless Yixing. Either that, or you're completely oblivious to even your own emotions" he replied, this time successfully walking away before pausing in his steps.

"Oh yeah, before you came to work, somebody came in here to see you" he said
"Who?" Yixing asked, frowning; it was rare that anyone came in to see him.

"I don't know, some guy. Because you weren't here, he dropped of a present and asked me to tell you of it when you got here, it's out back in the sink".

Still frowning, Yixing walked out to the back and sure enough, there in the sink was Yixing's present; a bouquet of flowers. Who the hell left flowers here for him?

I wanted to thank you for being such a great help for me whilst on my stay
Trust me, you've helped me more than I thought you would!

Returning home that evening, Yixing's mood had been slightly lifted. Even though the flowers were a simple gift, nobody had ever bought him something like this before. He was touched that some guy he had only seen a few times thought highly enough of him to buy him some!

Stepping into his house, he was met with the familiar sight of Yifan sat on the floor with various sheets of paper and a laptop around him. As usual, Yifan would look up to acknowledge his existence, but would then usually go back to doing whatever it was and not speak to Yixing. Upon seeing the flowers that Yixing had though, a frown appeared on his face.

"Where did you get those?" he asked
"Not that it's any of your business, but a customer at work gave them to me for being so helpful to them" Yixing replied, sauntering over to the kitchen to see if there was anything he could substitute for a vase.

"Someone gave you flowers?" Yifan asked
"And? Don't be jealous just because you may not have been given any when you were younger" Yixing replied, opting for a jug and filling it with water.

"Oh please, if anything I was the one giving out flowers not being given them" Yifan replied with a scoff and got back to whatever it was he had been doing previously.

Flowers proudly on show by the window, Yixing was sat in the living room watching television. Well, he should have been, but curiosity was getting the better of him and he found himself looking at what Yifan was looking up on the laptop screen.

"If you're going to take a train down to Guangzhou, how exactly are you going to afford it?" he asked
"I know a few people who have moved up to Beijing. As I can remember, they owe me for stuff I use to do for them when we were at school and I'm sure they'll want to help me... especially given the circumstances I find myself in right now" Yifan replied, not looking up from the screen.

"So you have everything planned?" Yixing asked
"To some extent" and then the silence ensued the two of them once again.

"How... how did you escape from jail? I thought the place was the most heavily guarded prison in the country?" Yixing asked as Yifan let out a laugh and finally looked up to meet Yixing in the eyes.

"That place needs to be updated when it comes to security and such. It's falling apart it's that old" he began
"As for escaping, it was actually out of pure luck. Where my cell was, there was this guard that often came around every night at precisely nine to see if everything was running smoothly. This guard would have keys attatched to a hook that you could easily get off if he was distracted"

"One night when on his round, I chucked something out of my cell so it landed on the floor and would catch his attention. When he leant over to check, I just had to snatch the keys and he walked away without noticing they were gone... by the time he did notice they were gone, I was breaking into that bakery of yours".

Okay, maybe his escape was not as glamorous as Yixing had first thought it out to be.

"Well then how did you get hold of the gun you held up against me?" Yixing asked
"Some guard saw me, we got into an altercation and once I had managed to hit him enough to render him useless, I snatched it, emptied out the bullets and ran out of that place even before the alarm was raised" Yifan replied.

Yixing was slightly impressed with that part. At least now he knew how Yifan had escaped and that he had emptied the gun even before he had escaped the jail. But there was just one more thing he wanted to know about.

"Who is Li Jiaheng?" he asked
"I thought you would have known, snooping around and everything" Yifan replied, making Yixing sigh
"Can you drop that already? I just want to find out who he is and why you used his name when introducing yourself to my parents".

Yixing thought for a moment there that Yifan was just going to brush the question aside and ignore him, especially with how his shoulders tensed up at the mention of the guy's name.

"I shared the cell with Li Jiaheng. He made sure that I survived my first year of jail and didn't get beaten up or pushed around for being the new guy in the joint. During the 2010 fights he made sure that I stayed away whilst he went to try and sort everything out... you know what happened next" he replied before laughing and shaking his head.

"Want to know why he was put in jail? For stealing some food from a supermarket. He had a wife and twins who lived in Shanghai, dirt poor, starving and he was thrown in jail for trying to feed them. Maybe if my name is ever cleared I'll go up and try to find them... help them out somehow... but that, that is a long way off yet"

Watching as he sat there, reflecting on the past, seeing how sad he looked... there is more to Wu Yifan than what Yixing could see. There were so many sides to him that Yixing had yet to discover all of them...

Dum, dum, dum!!

So yeah, the explanation of how he escaped and who Li Jiaheng really is in one chapter! And it's really long like jeez... it's longer than what I originally thought it would be! o.O

The only story missing of course is the day of the murder... but that won't be yet, more stuff is going to happen and trust me, you're going to love these chapters... or possibly hate me for writing them...

Until then!!
