Suspicious

Can you keep a secret?

Something had changed after Yixing had read those articles. Yifan wasn't really sure what had happened, but he felt that somewhere down he line of his stay, the atmosphere in the place had definitely changed.

Yixing was being very cautious around Yifan. Since reading those articles, he had suspicions that perhaps Yifan was more than what he made himself out to be. What with being sent to prison for murder, being in the prison during the 2010 fights and then using the name of a dead man in front of his parents... he had every right to be this way!

"And now you see why I do not trust him at all"  was all Luhan said when Yixing told him everything the next time the two of them were at work together.

"Great help you are" Yixing replied, going to clean some of the tables before he paused and sighed
"What bothers me is the fact that he used the name of a dead man. What if he killed the guy?" he asked.

"Yifan is tall and tough looking, but you know what people in those jails look like. There is no way he could have killed one of them" Luhan said
"But Li Jiah-"
"I'm pretty sure this is more than one Li Jiaheng in China, Yixing. Maybe he got it from a film or a book instead of a dead prisoner" Luhan interrupted, hoping that this would end Yixing worried.

If anything, it only made them worse.

"Are you snooping through my Weibo account?" Yixing shrieked, attempting to snatch his laptop away from Yifan. Damn that guy was tall though, and he was using it to his full advantage.

"Oh calm down" Yifan replied, placing his hand over Yixing's mouth to stop him from interrupting

"I'm only going through your account to look at what's trending and what others have put. Besides, I haven't written anything on your page to prank you or anything" he explained, whining when Yixing stuck his tongue out and his hand.

"Gross!" he exclaimed, waving his hand about and giving Yixing the perfect opportunity to snatch his laptop back and see for himself if Yifan was telling the truth.

"You know, there are a lot of people talking about you on here" he said, ignoring the look Yifan was shooting at him as he wiped his hand on his trouser leg
"Not about me. They're talking about a documentary about the murder which is on tonight" he replied.

"And I take it you want to watch it?" Yixing asked
"But of course! I've never watched a programme before where I've been one of the characters of interest" Yifan replied, grinning like a mad man.

"You're enjoying this just a bit too much" Yixing commented
"Oh trust me, I think I'll enjoy the documentary even more" Yifan replied.

Weirdo

With nothing else to do and with nobody in particular to see, Yixing actually found himself sitting in the living room that evening alongside Yifan to watch the documentary.

Not really knowing about the case the first time around, this was going to be somewhat educational for Yixing. For Yifan though, he just wanted to see what the whole thing looked like dramatised and to get a good laugh out of it. There are always two types of people.

"Oh come on, if they're going to recreate everything they should at least get someone who looks like me" Yifan commented
"The programme has only just started! If you shut up and actually watch the programme then maybe things will change" Yixing replied and could swear the two of them acted more and more like a bickering couple as the days went by.

Watching the documentary, most of it just didn't make sense to Yixing.

The beginning of the documentary started off by explaining the life and background of both Yifan and the two victims involved with the murder. From that, Yixing was able to learn more that Yifan; born in 1990 in Guangdong and raised up by his mum and her family, his dad running off and leaving them to it when Yifan wasn't even born yet.

"Good ridance too" Yixing could hear Yifan mutter as he shifted in his seat and kept his gaze at the television.

See, Yixing had no trouble following that, it was what followed that just didn't make sense. On the night of the murder the couple were coming back from a party when Yifan, supposedly, leapt out and murdered them. Later on, a wound was discovered on Yifan's shoulder- police quickly attributed it to the male victim fighting back and attempting to wound Yifan with his own weapon or murder. And yet through analysis there were no traces of Yifan's blood found on the knife.

Why would Yifan just randomly jump out and murder a couple? Maybe it was a mugging gone wrong? Well, that was what Yixing thought originally but the more of the documentary he watched, the more ridiculous it was becoming.

At the trial itself, the only evidence that the police had to go on to commit Yifan for the murder was the fact that he was found at the crime scene, holding the knife with blood of the victims on his clothing. Sure the knife would have been a dead giveaway, but there was no video evidence or witness accounts that could back up whether Yifan had definitely been the killer or he was just there at the wrong time. It was ridiculous.

The documentary concluded with the news that everyone already knew; Yifan had managed to escape from prison and was still on the run, if anyone should see him there was a phone number to call and all that ending jibber jabber. After that, silence cascaded around the two of them.

"That had to be one of the stupidest things I've watched my whole entire life" Yifan said with a laugh, though he didn't sound or look entirely happy. Yixing felt compelled to say something, do something, but couldn't bring himself to do so as Yifan got up and began making his way to his room.

"Oh before I forget" as he trailed back and stood in front of Yixing, crouching down so he and Yixing were eye to eye.

"If you don't like me going through your Weibo page, I would appreciate it if you didn't go snooping around what I look up. I'm not dumb Yixing" a smile and a pat on Yixing's cheek, and Yifan was back up and shutting himself in his room before Yixing could react to anything.

What was up with this guy?

One minute he was a guy laughing over a documentary about himself, then by the end of it he was quiet and maybe even emotional about it, then he went back to being the jerk he had been previously!

Yep, Yixing had every right to be suspicious of the guy...

Man you guys have so much to look forward to in these next few chapters, believe me!
