Chapter Sixteen:

 

Donghae helped Yoona get up from the examination bed and switched off the ultrasound.

 

“Wow. I can’t believe you’re already 8 months!” Donghae smiled.

 

Yoona smiled back. “Time flies.”

 

“The baby is growing well and is healthy.”

 

Donghae looked at her and bit his lip.

 

“But, uh, for your heart treatment…”

 

Yoona looked at Donghae sadly.

 

“I still don’t have enough money.”

 

“It’s fine. You can pay it back later. I just…” He looked down. “I don’t want something bad to happen to you.”

 

Donghae stood and hugged her gently, closing his eyes.

 

Yoona blinked.

 

“D-Donghae?”

 

He let go, blushing.

 

“I-I’m sorry...it’s just...I’ve been meaning to do that for a long time.”

 

Yoona swallowed.

 

“About the treatment...I’ll wa-”

 

“Don’t say you’ll wait anymore, because, by the time you finally decide to have treatment, it could be too late. The pills...if you take them for too long, then it’ll be bad for your body. You have to undergo treatment now.”

 

Yoona stared at the ground. Then she nodded slowly.

 

“I’ll...have treatment then. I’ll have treatment now…” She wiped her eyes.

 

Donghae looked relieved. He touched her shoulder comfortingly.

 

“Yoona…no doctor with at least half a conscience would pick money over a patient’s life. So don’t worry about the money. Think of you and your

baby’s life first.”

 

He sighed and rubbed Yoona’s back. He smiled lightly.

 

“Now stop crying...that’s bad for your baby.”

 

Taeyeon sat inside the Mocha House, fidgeting in her chair. She was waiting to talk to her cousin Suzy about the arranged marriage.

 

The door to the cafe opened and Suzy strolled in. She spotted Taeyeon and ran over.

 

“TAENGOOOOOOOO!” Suzy grinned, sliding into the chair across from Taeyeon.

 

“Suzy...be quiet.”

 

Suzy giggled. “I’m sorry, but I’ve been giddy lately! MAYBE because I’m getting engaged and married to the handsomest guy in the world!”

 

Taeyeon took a deep breath.

 

“Speaking of your marriage...I don’t think you should marry that guy.”

 

“Don’t call him ‘that guy’. Call him Taecyeon.”

 

“Fine. Don’t marry Taecyeon.”

 

Suzy raised an eyebrow. “Why? I love him.”

 

“Seriously?” Taeyeon said. “You met him, like, a week ago. How can you say you love him? You barely know anything about him!”

 

Suzy slammed her fist onto the table.

 

“You’re just trying to stop my marriage to Taecyeon because YOU LIKE HIM YOURSELF!”

 

Taeyeon was dumbfounded.

 

“What?! How could I like that guy after he--” She covered .

 

Suzy looked interested.

 

“After he what? What did he do? Is it something bad?”

 

Taeyeon looked away.

 

‘Do I tell her...or…?’

 

Taecyeon walked down the streets of Seoul. Snowflakes were slowly falling from the sky. He was reminded of the first time he met Yoona, the flakes falling as the two walked to Yoona’s house holding stacks of books. He smiled at the memory.

Suddenly, he bumped into someone.

 

“Oh! I’m sorry.” He said. The person turned.

 

“It’s fine.” She said in a quiet voice. Taecyeon’s eyes widened.

 

“Yoona?”

 

The girl stared.

 

“T-Taecyeon…?”

 

Yoona turned again and tried to leave but Taecyeon grabbed her wrist.

 

“Yoona!” He looked at her. “Yoona…”

 

She shut her eyes.

 

“Please...let go of me…”

 

Taecyeon shook his head.

 

“No….no. I...I can’t let go of you. Do you...do you know how depressed I was after you left me? Didn’t you know that I would love you...no matter

what?”

 

“Taecyeon…”

 

“Why didn’t you tell me you were pregnant earlier? How could I not know that I had a kid?!” He yelled.

 

Yoona cried.

 

“I’m sorry...I was scared! If you abandoned--”

 

“Don’t say that!” Taecyeon said. “I would never leave you….”

 

Yoona opened her eyes. Taecyeon gently pulled her into a back hug and shut his eyes.

 

“So please...don’t leave me.”

 

Taecyeon and Yoona walked to the Mocha House. Taecyeon glanced at Yoona and pulled her closer to him.

 

“I don’t want you to get cold.” He said.

 

The two walked inside the cafe. Suzy spotted them and stood. Taeyeon looked at Taec and Yoona and wondered if they had made up.

 

Suzy looked confused.

 

“O-oppa. Why...why are you with this girl?”

 

Taecyeon took a deep breath.

 

“She’s...my girlfriend.”

 

Yoona looked at him.

 

‘What?’

 

Taeyeon stared.

 

‘What?!’

 

Suzy trembled.

 

“WHAT?!!!”

 

Taecyeon held Yoona close.

 

“I’ve known her since high school. She’s the one I love.” He looked down. “I’m...sorry.”

 

Suzy looked sad.

 

“But...she’s...she has a kid…” Her eyes widened. “No way...you...you two….”

 

Taecyeon sighed. “She’s pregnant with my kid. I didn’t know until a few weeks ago. I’m sorry.”

 

Suzy stomped her foot. She had tears in her eyes.

 

“You JERK!” She slapped him on the cheek and stormed out of the cafe.

 

Taecyeon looked at the ground.

 

Suddenly, Yoona felt weak. Black spots danced in front of her eyes. She felt like she couldn’t get enough air. She crumbled to the floor.

 

Taeyeon cried out.

 

“Yoona!”

 

Taecyeon flinched. He looked up from the ground and gasped.

 

“Yoona!”
