Vulnerable

As The World Turns

12:15 p.m. [SNSD's Dorm, Seoul]

Okay, after being bombarded by a what I thought were questions, the girls finally realized that I wasn't ignoring them.

Rather than choosing not to answer their questions. More simply, I couldn't understand a thing.

After some time, I guess Tiffany and Jessica were able to tell this to the girls who weren't so excited to see me and especially after what had happened at their doorstep.

As soon as everyone got settled in their rather spacious living room area, Jessica excused herself to get changed and I quickly found myself without my only ally.

Without a moments hesitation, Tiffany began translating the multitude of questions that were coming from her groupmates in rapid fire succession.

"Who are you!?"

"What do you think you're doing inviting a random girl to your house!?"

"Are you a ert!?"

The questions just kept coming. Finally reaching my breaking point, I thanked Tiffany for her services but I asked her to tell her members to ask one question at a time.

In no time, the first one to speak was the same person on the phone earlier. She was small and acted like a grandmother. If I remember well, her name was Taeyeon?

"Who are you? And how do you know Jessica?"

Smugly, I replied,"I'm a lawyer working for SM. I met her from work."

Next was a rather tall girl, she had a pretty face. Probably the prettiest out of the girls in front of me right now. Tiffany introduced her as Yoona.

"What did you do with her? Did you do anything you'll regret later on?"

I smirked,"I don't think I'll regret anything in the future."

I figured if I was gonna be interrogated, I might as well have fun with it. Right?

When Tiffany told them my answer, I couldn't help but laugh on the inside at their reactions of disgust and shock.

All of a sudden, Jessica returned and Tiffany looked to her with a dissappointed look and said,"You know they were gonna ask him questions and you left him here. On top of that, he's not making it easier. In fact, it's almost like he's taunting them."

Jessica gave me a glare and I just smirked.

After Tiffany had explained to her the questions they had asked me and the answers I had given, Jessica continued her glare and quickly began what I assumed was explaining to her "unnies" what had actually gone on last night.

When they had realized that I was just playing with them, they looked both relieved and unamused at the same time.

Looking at me, I couldn't help but smirk a bit.

All of a sudden, I felt a hand hit the back of my head.

Looking at where it had come from, I turned to Jessica and said,"What was that for?"

"For being arrogant."

"So what?"

"You need to be more of a people person."

"I'd rather not."

"And that's why everyone else in this dorm dislikes you right now."

"Everyone else? Does that mean the mighty Jessica Jung doesn't dislike me?"

"You're just lucky I saw another side of you."

"My, my. You're not as cold as your reputation says."

"And you're twice as rude and arrogant as your reputation."

"Then I've done my job. Anyways, they should get comfortable with seeing me around."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"Well, aside from you and Tiffany, everyone else still has contract negotiations."

"Oh yeah, I should probably warn them."

"Mmhmm. Well, I'll get going now."

As Jessica walked me to the front door, she said,"You should stop with the arrogant attitude, you'll make more enemies than friends."

"I don't want to, it's too fun."

"Change it by yourself, or I'll make you change it myself."

As I walked out of the dorm, I went up to her ear and whispered,"Do your worst."

Smirking at her stunned reaction, I pulled my phone out as soon she closed the door.

I began to search around for Sung's phone number and called him.

In his heavy accent, he said,"How may I help you today sir?"

"Yes, Sung do me a favor and use my card to buy eight Louis Vuitton handbags and have them delivered to SNSD's dorm. GIve one to everyone except for Jessica."

"Right away sir."

As soon as I returned home, I made my way to my bed and rested.

It still had her scent on it.

Hmmm... I could stay like this forever...

Three days later [SM Building, Seoul]

Stay like that forever was exactly what I did. Well, it was due to the jetlag, but I stayed in bed all weekend and even into Monday. Now, it's Tuesday and I have to get these negotiations underway.

Later That Day [SM Building, Seoul]

After dealing with Taeyeon for what seemed like an eternity, we finally reached an agreement in theory and were only waiting for her approval and signing of the official document.

I had to admit, for someone who looked so young, she definitley carried herself in a very mature and aged manner.

Aside from the obvious language barrier, everything went by smoothly in terms of how the negotiations were run. However, appeasing both her desires and the desires of the company turned out to be much more difficult than was expected.

Eventually we reached a forseeable end, but it was all still tentative.

Now, I'm sitting here at my desk looking at some papers about some business matters SM is going to be dealing in for the next few months.

At least now I understand why I was sent here for long-term work rather than just a month of negotiating contracts, at this point I'm basically in-house counsel for SM until further notice.

Well, I guess I could get used to it.

Out of nowhere, I heard the sound of my office door opening and I saw a familiar person walk in through the door.

Not bothering to look anymore, I said,"What're you doing here? Don't you have any schedules to be off to?"

"No. I don't have anything better to do."

"Well, mind to keep me company Ms. Jung?"

"I'd rather not."

"Why not?"

"Because everyone else got a new handbag except for me."

"Hmm? I wonder what gracious person was so kind as to buy all your group members a new bag?"

"The same one who gets to stay here by themself."

"That's no fun."

"Well, neither is being left out."

"What if I make it up?"

She looked at me and smirked,"Then I might be interested."

"Now I've got you. What time is it?"

"4 o'clock."

"Alright, give me a while to finish these papers and we'll get going."

10:00 p.m. [Shopping Centre, Seoul]

After I was finished with work, we made our way to a shopping centre where I treated Jessica out to some food and bought her a new coat and handbag.

Good thing it was mid-winter in Seoul because Jessica was able to walk around freely since she had on enough layers to disguise herself.

Now, we're at some bridge in the middle of a park somewhere looking over at the water.

Once again, I found myself lost in her beauty.

Suddenly, she turned to me and said,"I don't get it. You always put up that arrogant and cold persona around other people, but you show this caring side when you're around me."

"Maybe you're special."

"I doubt that. There must be someone else who's seen this side of you."

"Maybe."

"Maybe? Are you suggesting that I'm the only one that knows that the best attorney in Seoul and San Francisco has a caring side?"

"I'm suggesting that you stop trying to figure out stuff about my personality and just enjoy the fact that you've seen another face of me."

"I feel so special."

"You should."

"And why is that?"

"Because I actually care about you."

"That's not something special. You should care about everyone and everything."

"Then where would that put you?"

"I don't know. That's up to you to decide."

"Simple enough."

"Then what will it be?"

"Well, you have to approve it first."

"Why would what I mean to you need my approval?"

Without replying immediatley, I went up behind her and gave her a hug and said,"Well, I think I may have fallen for someone and I'd like to have that special someone be my girlfriend."

There, I said it, the words that would leave me so open. Now, I was vulnurable to anything she could throw at me. Ignoring all my past experiences, I was willing to let a woman I've only known for a few days have me completely in her grip. In this moment, she had my mind, my heart, and my soul in the palm of her hand.

After all they've been though I just think they deserve to finally be happy together in the end. But, through how this story line is going I'm only being delusional thinking that. ㅠㅠ Anyways, keep up the good work!
