chapter seven
Powerless Wonder
The hospital seemed almost empty, it was very quiet these days. Luhan liked that, and that was also the reason he frowned when he saw someone sitting on the waiting chairs by Minseok's room. Though he did want to ignore that person.
"Excuse me?"
Luhan turned around - he was about to open the door but stopped,"Huh, me?" The man stood up from the waiting seats next to Minseok's room,"Yes, you were going in there right?" He pointed to the white door with the name plate Kim Minseok, 201 on it.
Luhan nodded his head, confused. Only then he noticed the big box in the hands of the other person, then he looked up to the stranger again,"Do you need something...?"
"Actually, yes, could you give this to Minseok?" the man stretched out his arms, gesturing to the box. He seemed nervous, maybe. Luhan frowned,"May I know who you are?" The stranger chuckled rather awkwardly,"I'm... I was an old friend of Minseok." Luhan noticed the change from present tense to past tense, but didn't ask any further. "I guess, I can," Luhan took the box, giving the man one last analysing glance,"What's your name though?"
"Ah right, Zhang Yixing," the stranger bowed slightly with a smile,"I take my leave then, bye."
Luhan watched the man go. How strange.
"Minseok, good morning!" Luhan cheerfully greeted, entering, the box in his arms.
Minseok was already sitting at the small table next to the window, the food untouched. He had been waiting for Luhan. "Morning," he looked at Luhan, then to the box with a curious gaze. Luhan put the box down next to Minseok's closet and took the seat in front of Minseok.
Minseok frowned at Luhan, nodding his head to the box once. Luhan immediately understood,"Ah, there was this guy in front of your door. He saw me and gave me that box, saying it was for you."
"Name?" Minseok raised a brow.
"Zhang Yixing, I think he's chinese," Luhan answered pulling out his own breakfast from his backpack,"I'm so hungry."
Minseok kept quiet and stole glances at the box.
"I missed you," Luhan said with a pout after a while, half finished with his sandwich. Minseok's eye found his, amusement showing,"You've been away for one night, Luhan." Luhan only nodded, sheepishly,"Only because Doctor Jeong didn't let me stay."
"Well, it's already like you live here so..." Minseok gave Luhan a smirk,"Not even using the matress, but sleeping next to me on a chair. Unhealthy."
"Gulping down three pills at once is unhealthy, too!" Luhan argued back, not being able to control the big grin on his face.
"You're not going to look what's in there?" Luhan asked his head resting on his folded palms on the bed, while Minseok was reading a book.
Minseok shrugged,"If it was that important, he would have come personally to give it." His tone sounded colder than usual.
"Well, he did look nervous..." Luhan mumbled, looking away from the box to Minseok,"Can I look in it for you then?" Minseok gave him a shrug, continuing with his reading.
Luhan stood up and went over to the box,"Let's see..." He pulled it next to Minseok's bed, sat down on the floor and opened it. "Oh?" Luhan couldn't tame his curiosity. He took out photo books, loose photos and some letters. "Minseok, I think..." Luhan didn't finish his sentence, he stared at the photos.
The person on those photos was smiling brightly, sometimes doing stupid faces. The person had his arms around two others on one photo, sometimes
