chapter thirteen
Powerless Wonder
Minseok woke up with his body aching and a stinging pain in his head. "Great," he panted and took a glance at his smartphone for the time.
8:23 in the morning. Luhan should be here at 9. Minseok stood up, getting ready. (He ignored the dizziness overcoming him.)
He thanked himself mentally for not having unpacked after his arrival yesterday - though he did not expect the thought of wanting to leave to come so soon. Who would? So he stared a little at his luggage and took his time to think.
He left the room, ready. A black leather jacket in his hand, while the other stored his wallet and smartphone in his pants' pockets.
The luggage is left in the boring room.
He noticed no one awake, so he wrote a note before taking his leave. I'll be back.
He decided to sit on the bench in front of the house, waiting for Luhan to pick him up. He caught himself thinking things that he would never say out loud - dark thoughts, making him feel something by his heart. Maybe that's not emotional cause, but his poor health again. He's sure it's his health (or both).
It's only 8:40 and Minseok's body got a cold breeze. He zipped up his leather jacket and put his hands in its pockets. Warmer. Just a little warmer. Actually he liked the cold (more than the heat that is), but today it only made the day gloomier.
Time flew, a black older version of a BMW stopped by the street in front of him. He recognised the reddish-brown hair quickly, so made his way to the car while the driver came out at the same time.
Minseok stood still then, his throat felt dry so he gave a smile as a greeting. "Hey there," Luhan greeted, smiling. (Luhan could be the sun today, Minseok thought.) Luhan comes by the passenger seat, opened the car door and motioned for Minseok to get in,"Shall we?" Minseok gave an eager nod and went in. Luhan closed the door, then sat down in the driver's seat. "Where do you want to go?" he asked.
"Anywhere," Minseok answered quietly, gulping because of his dry throat,"Breakfast first perhaps?"
Luhan gave the kind of smile that said "I would take you anywhere you want", but he kept it at,"Sure, I know a good restaurant."
"Did something happen?" Luhan broke the silence, after the waiter finally brought the food to their table. Minseok did not mind what to eat and let Luhan choose, who did not mind either and had told the waiter he wanted a surprise. Bagels and Omelette.
"No," Minseok answered, his gaze lowered to the bagel and the eggs by the side, thinking about what to eat first. "Actually," Minseok wanted to say,"nothing had happened and that's the thing." He didn't.
Yet he looked up (as if to make sure the warm Luhan did not hear his cold thoughts) and was greeted by a bright smile that told him it was alright. Luhan pointed at Minseok's plate,"You should try eating both together. Like this..." he demonstrated by biting in his bagel first and then putting a piece of omelette in his mouth. With Luhan's cheeks getting rou
