chapter fourteen
Powerless Wonder
The moment Minseok opened his eyes, he was surrounded by darkness - and like it was for the first time in his life, he felt warm. Not his body warmth, because his body was still cold. But his chin felt something soft and he guessed it was Luhan's hair and it smelled like apples. It seemed as if Luhan had begun to cuddle him while he was asleep. For some reason, that was what made Minseok feel warm.
Minseok did not mind that.
What Minseok bothered was the dizzying headache, that awoke him in the first place.
He held a cold hand on his forehead, then looked down at the sleeping intern by his side. Waking Luhan up would be rude, wouldn't it? Minseok went over pros and cons of waking Luhan up, because he couldn't get up without waking the younger anyway.
(Pro side won.) Minseok decided to try sleep again - he was good at pretending.
A few hours later, little sunrays grazed over the two men on the couch. With Luhan only cuddling closer, Minseok opened his eyes. His dark orbs wandered down to the reddish-brown hair and he couldn't help but smile.
Luhan smiled sweetly up at him,"Good morning, Minseok."
"Get up," with a soft puff, Minseok rolled Luhan off of him and stood up to stretch.
Minseok's bones hurt. His head still hurt.
Luhan watched Minseok go into the kitchen. "I'll make breakfast," he said casually.
Luhan, happy about the time spent with Minseok, couldn't help but feel suspicious and worried. Only now that he saw Minseok walk into the kitchen (reminding Luhan of the first day he met Minseok), he realized Minseok did not take his medications. Online he had read about Minseok's sicknesses after the doctors had first told him about Pateint 201, so he abruptly went after Minseok.
"Did you take your meds?" Luhan stood in the doorway with Minseok's back turned to him, cooking omelette it seemed.
"I'm alright, don't worry," Minseok turned around with a half smile,"After breakfast could you bring me back again? My stuff is still there."
Luhan frowned at the indirect answer (no) and went closer,"Minseok, isn't it dangerous not to take your medications? One day is already a bad thing, forget breakfast. Let's go now?"
Minseok avoided Luhan's eyes and just shrugged,"Okay." He knew better than to be childish.
"I'll be back, give me ten minutes."
Though Luhan had really wanted to tag along into the place Minseok had lived before the hospital, he had given in when Minseok had said no and that countless times while driving here. So he had to wait.
Minseok knocked on the door. Luhan watched from inside the car.
The door was opened by his mother,"Minseok, where were you? Why did you just leave? That's irresponsible, I hope you know!" Minseok inwardly rolled his eyes,"Hmh," and walked in, closing the door behing him.
"I'm only here to take my stuff, don't worry about it," Minseok explained, almost coldly. His mother trailed behind him,"The hospital called you back...? I thought-- never mind, if the doctors said so."
Minseok gave her a confused gaze before grabbing his luggage. "Actually," he began his lie,"yes. I forgot to take my medication, mother."
He saw his mother flinch slightly. "Minseok," she shook her head,"You
