It was unexpected, but not really. 

While the new year broke in and the fireworks exploded beautifully in the sky, Minseok stood next to Luhan by the balcony's open glass door. Byun Baekhyun finally settled things with his sister, they wouldn't ignore each other anymore (they only had each other after all). They were standing in front of the railings, excited like children looking up at the lit up sky. Just like Luhan and Minseok behind the open glass door.

"Hey, let's take a photo!" Luhan took out his phone and got into position, ushering Minseok to do the same. Smiling brightly, the photo was taken. Luhan stared at it,"Nice." Minseok looked at him though,"Yeah, nice." 

Luhan was holding Minseok's hand, after having put away his phone. Switching his gaze from the sky to the exhausted man by his side. "I love you," he whispers and Minseok turned his head to him, to receive a chaste kiss on his lips. Luhan let go of the other's hand, walking to Baekhyun, getting some sparklers for Minseok and himself. It really did not even take more than 20 seconds. 

But Minseok wasn't standing behind the open glass door anymore. 

Luhan's smile vanished as if it had never been there in the first place, perturbed looking around the dark room - only to find his love leaning against the wall with a smile and eyes that seemed lifeless, even though the fireworks were reflected in them. Frozen in place Luhan finally noticed that Minseok's gaze shifted on him. "What is it?" Luhan dared to whisper, as if he did not know. 

Minseok gave that crooked grin of his, cold sweat on his forehead. He struggled to hold the smile but it worked just fine. Yet his trembling hands gave him away, which were placed on his chest. He finally hugged himself, he couldn't keep up with the pain overwhelming him. The tears began to fall but the smile did not.

Luhan gazed over to the Byun siblings before turning back to Minseok and rushing to his side. Minseok held a finger over his lips and Luhan kind of knew already, so he obeyed and kept quiet. Luhan could only watch his love slide down the wall slowly - it looked as if Minseok was just tired and sitting down after a long day. Luhan forced a smile because Minseok's looked so real and sat down on the cold hard floor, close beside him. 

"Luhan?" Minseok was still smiling weakly, tears not stopping and voice not breaking,"Take care of yourself. I... I love you. But that's not all to life is it?"  And finally Minseok looked up to meet Luhan's tense stare. Don't do this, don't. Minseok could read words unsaid in Luhan's wet saddened eyes. Luhan could never deceive him and the smile of his was faltering.

"Yes, Minseok!" Luhan sniffed, using the sleeve of his sweater to wipe away his own tears falling,"I'm strong,
