...It was a Good Day.

Life Starts Here

The remaining ten minute drive to the film site was peppered with complaints about being squished to the point that more idols chose to sit on the already cramped floor until they were groaning from being sore.  Cat apologized over and over again, but they all told her there was nothing to be sorry for and they were just happy she was okay.

Finally they arrived at the location, and when the door slid open it took three idols to grab Chanyeol and prevent him from actually falling out of the van onto the pavement.   With a groan he unfolded his long legs and stepped out of the van, ignoring the cries of the fans that were steadily arriving.  As they all crawled out of the van, they were very careful to not look at anyone, perform no fan service and blatantly ignore their screams and cry for attention.

However when Sehun and Cat stepped out the screams erupted, and Sehun’s arm immediately slid around her waist to pull her close to him as they rushed forward.  Tao and Chanyeol immediately ran to their sides, with the rest of the group pushing a path forward to the main door.  Cat buried her face into Sehun’s chest, her hand reaching up to press the beanie tightly to her head.

Liz stood behind Sehun and Cat, and with hands pressed to their backs she pushed them through the surging crowd into the building.  Only once the bodyguards closed the doors behind them and everyone was accounted for did Liz exhale deeply, grabbing the itinerary.  “Okay guys, we’re a little behind schedule.  We need to get moving!  Nana?”

“Yea boss?”  Her voice chirped as she hopped through the guys, her duffle bag over her shoulder and a grin plastered on her face.

“We need you to get set up as soon as possible.  We’re sending the guys in first to get dressed, but then they’re immediately surging to you.  You good with that?”

Nodding and playfully saluting, Nana clicked her heels together and readjusted her duffle.  “I’m on it.”

“Great.  Okay everyone, get to the changing rooms!  Let’s go!”  Liz cried, waving her hands at the bows and shooing them toward the back rooms.  Chanyeol darted over to her and leaned down, kissing her warmly on the mouth before jogging after the rest of the guys, leaving Liz with a dumb smile on her face.

“Liz?  Where do I go?”  Cat’s voice came from her shoulder, jerking her from her space-cadet moment.  Looking over she grinned at her sister, and slung an arm around her shoulders, squeezing you warmly.

“You have some free time until the guys are changed.  Let’s go check out the set, eh?”  She smiled warmly; very aware of just how pale Cat was at the moment.  “You look like you’re going to be sick, are you okay?”

“I thought the fans would just leave me alone by now…”  She murmured, reaching up and touching the beanie on her head absently.

“As much as I don’t want to defend them, they probably got excited when they saw you being secretive.  It’s my fault; I shouldn’t have had you at the end like that.  But you’re okay, and that’s what really matters.”  Liz reached up and gently pulled the beanie from her hair and resting her hand top of her head.  “And don’t worry about the fans seeing you and Sehun together; Mr. President will get it all figured out.”

Nodding worriedly, her face lit up as they rounded a corner and saw the beautiful set.  Cool tones of silver, white and gray surrounded a flat area with a single piano set on it, juxtaposed between large crystal formations.  “It’s… beautiful.”  She cooed, running over and brushing her fingers against the white wood, marveling at the lighting and set.

     “Do you like it?”

Startled by the voice the two girls looked around and grinned as they saw Kyungsoo standing there, smiling pleasantly at them.  Cat’s eyebrow arched into her hair as she surveyed him unabashedly from head to toe, chuckling as he blushed and rolled his eyes.  “Looking good Kyungsoo-ah!”

Rolling his eyes he grinned, his eyes crinkling as he did so.  “Thank you.  I’m glad you approve.”  He bowed his head, walking up between the two girls to look at the set fondly.  “I think this will look very striking on camera.”

“Well yea, especially with that suit of yours.”  Liz smirked as she reached out to touch the gray material of the jacket, marveling on the soft feel of the plaid collar.

Swatting at her playfully, Kyungsoo grinned and looked toward Cat with a soft expression.  “I can see you’re nervous.  Don’t worry though; everything will be fine.  You’ll be with Sehun on the camera!”

Flushing pink Cat rolled her eyes and folded her arms over her chest.  “I suppose so…”

“Cat!  You need to get ready now!”  Nana called from the back room as she finished pulling the makeup collars from the guy’s necks.  All of them looked relatively normal considering the circumstances, wearing various suits and sweaters, looking very comfy casual.

Sehun grinned at Cat as she walked up toward the makeup room, kissing her gently on the forehead.  “I’ll see you soon, okay?  Don’t get too worked up.  You’ll be fine!”  Waving quickly, he followed the group as they were pulled to various bits of set and were being fussed over by various set dressers and attendants.

For a moment Cat watched Sehun chatting with an attendant, his eyes crinkling as he smiled at her politely before nodding and turning toward the set.  Gently Liz placed her hands on her sister’s shoulders, snapping her out of her reverie.  “Come on girly, we need to get you dressed.”

With a gentle push she directed her to Nana, who grinned and chatted with her quietly about the various makeups she did on the guys, causing Cat to laugh as they swapped stories about who’s the most fun to apply.  Leaning against the doorframe, Liz chuckled as she watched her sister slowly transform.  Her newly lengthened and darkened hair rested in long strands down her back, while her face was done in a soft palette, emphasizing the color and shape of her eyes, and a thin pair of false lashes made her eyes seem wider.

“There.  Okay, time to get you dressed.”  Nana cooed, gently ushering her out of the makeup room and toward the dressing rooms.  Liz grinned and pulled Cat into the changing room, handing her the garment bag and a pair of shoes.

“They’re so cute!”  Cat squealed despite her nerves, looking at the black suede ankle boots with an excited expression.

Laughing Liz shooed her into the changing room, tapping her toe patiently.  After a moment she heard Nana yell excitedly, then run in with her face alight.  “What’s going on?”

“There’s a puppy on stage!!!”  She hopped up and down in glee, gesturing over her shoulder toward the film set.  “Kai’s cuddling with it right now!  She’s so wittle!”

“A puppy?!?!  Where?!”  Cat cried from the changing room, sticking her head out from around the door.

“Get dressed, you!  We need you ready very soon!”  Liz demanded, wagging her finger at her sister as she pouted.  “You can see the puppy soon enough.”  Chuckling as Cat retreated back into the dressing room, she glared at Nana.  “Nice going.”

“Whaaaat?!?”  She grinned, running out of the room with her camera in hand, yelling at Kai to let her hold the puppy.

      “Do I look okay…”

Turning around, Liz smiled happily as she saw Cat emerge from the dressing room, nervously picking at her clothes.  “You look beautiful!!!”

Blushing, Cat reached down and brushed her hands against the materials.  She was wearing thigh high black stockings, a short red skirt and a white button up jacket.  Sehun’s ring and bracelet glittered on her hand, and her hair spilled down her back in a dark wave.  “T-Thank you.  I’m a bit nervous.”

“Catherine-ssi!  We need you on set!”  A voice came on over the speaker, and Cat swallowed hard, nodding to herself as she walked toward the door, pausing only when Liz threw a black cape over her to protect the white jacket from falling dust offstage.

Approaching the sound stage, she couldn’t help but smile as she saw Chanyeol leaning against a faux brick wall, smiling gently at a set of silver rings he had on his fingertips.  Once she had checked in with the stage manager, she found she actually had a few minutes to wait as she stared at the guys doing their thing.

Chanyeol was soon ushered off, and when he caught Cat’s eye, he smirked and held his finger to his mouth, winking playfully.  Blinking in confusion she turned back to the stage and couldn’t help but burst out laughing as Kris took his place in front of an easel.

“What?!”  Kris whined, looking over at her and pouting.

“I just never thought I’d see you… in front of an easel!”  Caught in a fit of giggles, she apologized to the cameramen and bowed away, wiping tears of mirth from her eyelashes.

“I heard you wanted to meet the puppy.”  Kai’s voice drifted around the corner, and she whirled around to see him leaning against the wall with his shoulder, a small wriggling bulge visible inside his jacket.

“Can I?  Please?”  She pleaded, holding out her hands for the small pup.  With a pleasant smile Kai nodded, holding out the little puppy to her, causing her to coo in delight.  The puppy had auburn curly fur, and wiggled with excitement as she held her to her face, allowing the pup to her nose.  “She’s so cute!”

After a moment or two Kai was needed, replacing Kris on the set and he held out his hands for the small puppy.  “I’m sure you can play with her afterward.”  He chuckled, replacing the small creature into his jacket and walking on set.

Nana snuck up beside her friend, and with a small frown quickly reapplied the makeup on her nose from the puppy’s kisses.  “You look nervous…  Everything is going to be fine!  They won’t see your face.”

“But the fans… They’ll know it’s me!”  She whispered in a strangled voice, her hands twisting the cape in nerves as she stared blankly at the set she knew she’d have to go on.  It was a huge set, almost like a town square.  There was a working fountain, lamp posts, benches, plant life, and even a front of a large brick building complete with stairs, all beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations.

“Cat-ssi!  We need you on set in five minutes!”   One of the stage managers called, bowing over her clipboard at the nervous girl.

Swallowing hard, she nodded and walked over to the short woman, who immediately began chattering about what she had to do.  Looking over the woman’s shoulder Cat couldn’t help but freeze when she saw Sehun standing on the side of the set, talking quietly with a few of the other members and what appeared to be a stage manager.

Her heart fluttered as she saw him standing there, dressed simply in a dark gray suit with an untucked plaid shirt under the long wool jacket.  His hair was parted to the side and his eyes crinkled as he laughed with Xiumin over some joke.

     “Cat-ssi?”

Blinking rapidly she looked back at the young woman and nodded, smiling gently.  “Yes.  Sorry about that; I got distracted.”

Grinning playfully, she winked and nodded.  “It’s okay.  I understand.  Now come; we need to get you ready.”  Turning on her heel she led her to a small partition, hiding her from view from the rest of the sound stage.  “When the music starts, we’ll give you your queue.  The camera will be behind you to catch Sehun-ssi’s expression as he sees you; Mr. President is hoping to get an organic reaction from him.”

“Oh, I’m sure that won’t be a problem.”  Xiumin’s voice came from the far corner, his voice thick with amusement as he looked at Cat’s black cover-up.  “Protecting yourself?”

“More like keeping something a surprise.”  Cat smirked, winking at the idol as he ran his hand through his expertly tousled hair, causing a spark of jealousy to race through her as his hair looked even better than before.

“I’m sure Sehun-ah will love it regardless.”  He murmured quietly, smiling as he straightened and readjusted the box under his arm.  “We’re about to start filming again; are you ready?”

“I think so.”  She murmured as she pulled off the black covering and handed it to the stage manager, brushing her hands over the red fabric of her skirt.  A sharp gasp caused her to turn her face slightly toward the noise, and blushed as she saw Xiumin gaping at her.  “Is everything okay?”

“Cat-ah… You look beautiful.”  He stammered, rubbing the back of her neck.  “It’s not as elaborate as your comeback stage outfit… but you still look beautiful.  Sehun’s going to love it.”

Biting her lip she couldn’t help but smile as she nodded at him, words just not coming to her.  Luckily for her, Xiumin was called to the set, and she was called to be ready on deck as he ran off.  Music flooded the sound stage, a lovely haunting melody that was heavily piano based.  Her eyes closed at the beauty, hearing Kyungsoo, Chen and Baekhyun’s voices echo throughout the sound stage, goosebumps rising on her skin for the umpteenth time that day.

A gentle touch to her arm snapped her from her reverie, and she looked down to see the stage manager trying to catch her attention.  At that moment their harmony hit a beautiful note, and she was gently pushed behind a large crowd of people who were blocking the stage from her, walking back and forth with meaning.

Almost instinctively Cat gripped her forearm across her abdomen as she slowly walked forward, the group parting until she could see Sehun looking up expectantly at the group.  Instantly his expression softened as he saw her, and the flowers he held in his hand lowering to his side, his eyes locked onto hers as if she was all he could see.  They stood there for a moment until the director yelled cut, the entire sound crew cheering excitedly.

“That was perfect!!  Sehun-ssi, maybe we should have Cat play your love interest more often!”  The director crowed, causing the group to burst out laughing as Sehun blushed, reaching out to Cat.

“I can’t move from my spot, Cat-ah…”  He murmured, crooking his fingers at her until she stepped forward.  Wordlessly he slid his hand behind her neck and pulled her close, kissing her warmly for a moment.  “You look beautiful baby…”

“Thank you...”  She chuckled, blushing furiously as some of the members cat-called at her from their spots around the stage.  “Oh shut up, you guys!  Don’t make me kick your .”

“That’s the Cat we know and love!”  Baekhyun chuckled from off stage, then yelped and dove behind Chen as Cat whirled around and glared at him playfully.

“Okay Cat-ssi, that was wonderful.  Now, I don’t think we can do that take again without ruining Sehun’s perfect expression, so we’re going to take you aside and do some other shots with you, okay?  Thank you!”  The director murmured, bowing politely in her direction, clearly wanting her to stop distracting the rest of the members but not wanting to rudely make her leave.

Nodding, she pecked Sehun on the cheek quickly and hurried off the set, bowing to the director and the sound stage workers as she did so.  As she ran off she absently heard the director bellowing at Sehun for his attention, causing the rest of the group to laugh heartily at their poor maknae.

      “Cat!  Cat, come here please.”

Looking up, she saw Chanyeol beckoning to her from the side of the sound stage.  “What?  Shouldn’t you be on the set right now?”

“No, I’m not needed right now.  Can you come here?”  He whispered, beckoning impatiently to her.

Rolling her eyes she walked over to him, hands on her hips and her head tilted.  “Yeeeeees…?”

“I… I need to ask you something.”  He mumbled, digging around in the pocket of his leather coat and bringing out a small black box tied with a pink bow.

Immediately Cat’s hands went up in protest and she stepped back, laughing weakly.  “Chanyeol-ah!  I’m flattered, but I’m with Sehun and-..”

“It’s not for you, you dork.”  He chuckled huskily, shaking his head.  “It’s for… your sister.”

This instantly perked Cat’s interest, and she grinned happily.   “Really?!  For Liz?  What are you going to do?”

“I’m… I’m going to ask her to marry me, Cat.”

Her jaw dropping open, she covered with her hands and hopped up and down excitedly, stifling the squeal that was fighting to escape.  Once she was sure it wouldn’t burst free, she grinned and hugged Chanyeol tightly, causing him to laugh.  “This is exciting!!!”

“I made sure to not get a very… a very distinct ring.  To avoid the fans, you know?”  He smiled, gesturing to Sehun’s ring glimmering on her very own ring finger.  “But they’re going to be in the MV too… So we’ll see if she puts two and two together, hm?”

Laughing excitedly, she nodded and hugged him again.  “I’m so happy for you, Chanyeol!!  I hope she says yes!”

Chuckling at her excitement, he couldn’t help but shrug.  “Me too!”  With a laugh, he nodded toward the stage manager, who was currently waving frantically to get his attention and go on set.  “I have to go now; it’s time to film my solo bit.  Don’t tell anyone, okay?  And try to watch me if you can!”

With long strides he made his way over to the set, holding his arms to the side as the set costumers came up and adjusted his leather jacket, leading him toward a faux brick wall.  Timidly Cat slunk up to the camera, watching Chanyeol be primped by the wardrobe crew, and couldn’t help but snicker as she saw Nana growling at them to move as she made her way forward, with makeup clenched tightly in her hand.

Soon enough he was ready for camera, and Cat stood back enough to still see the screen, but not in the way of the camera man.  The director barked for quiet, despite the already quiet set, and soon the sound of a rolling camera and softly playing music was all that was heard.

Before her eyes the gangly Chanyeol transformed into a soft, romantic guy, as he opened the ring box and stared at the two rings inside, simple silver bands, with one obviously meant for a girl as it was coated in diamonds and just barely fitting on his pinky.  The corner of his mouth quirked up as he looked at the bands, causing Cat’s heart to melt and her hand to dart to to stifle her sob.

Casting a glance over to Nana quickly showed that Cat wasn’t the only one moved by his performance, tears welling up in her eyes as she bit her lip.  Tao had appeared behind her as well, his long arms wrapped around her shoulders and holding her close to his chest.  A faint smile slid across her face before a light grip surrounded her upper arm, and she turned, seeing the stage manager for her scene putting a finger to her lips before nodding toward a closed off sound stage.

As quietly as they could they walked away from Chanyeol’s set as he was asked to re-do some takes, and once they were out of earshot the stage manager smiled at her.  “Sorry about that Cat-ssi, but I need you for the rest of your takes now.”  She murmured quietly, gesturing to the sound stage behind them.

“Oh of course!  I’m sorry; Chanyeol-ah just wanted me to watch his performance.  Big lug; always wants an audience.”  She snickered, shaking her head playfully as the woman chuckled and nodded, looking at the clipboard in her hand.

“We just have a few more shots with you before you can change out of those clothes.  They’re all from the waist down, so don’t worry about your makeup right now.  But… be sure to keep your hand out of the frame; otherwise the fans will know it’s you.”  She smiled politely, gesturing to the bauble on Cat’s finger.  “We need you to walk delicately, almost nervously, okay?  Long, pretty steps though.”

“You got it.”  Cat grinned, carefully lifting her hands to fold them on her abdomen, straightening her back a bit as she made her way to the ‘x’ on the floor.  Truth be told, she was more nervous about the cameras being pointed at her legs than at her back!

     “Perfect!  Okay ready… set… action!”

Taking a deep breath, Cat stepped off of the ‘x’, and took long, almost tentative steps straight ahead, taking great care to place her feet delicately before taking another step.  She did this for a little bit, until the director was satisfied and said she was free to go.

Once she walked away from the set, it hit her just how tired she was.  She hadn’t done much, yet she felt as if she ran a marathon.  Wearily she kicked off her shoes, scooping them up and wandering back toward the makeup room, chuckling as she walked in to see Nana dozing in her chair.  “Why are you tired?!”

Jerking awake, Nana scowled at her, sticking her tongue out.  “I’m not tired.  I’m bored!  There’s a very fine difference, madam.  Now, did you have fun?”  She grinned, walking over to Cat and leading her to the makeup chair, where she gently rubbed makeup remover wipes on her face.  “You look tired.”

“Yea, I’m tired.  It’s weird… I did next to nothing but I’m exhausted.”  Cat groaned, closing her eyes as Nana gently peeled off the false lashes from her lids.  Leaning back into the chair, she smiled faintly as she felt Nana gently wash the makeup from her face, knowing while she could do it herself, her friend saw just how tired she was and took the chance to relax.  Filming was done, and Chanyeol wanted to ask her sister to marry him!

     It was a good day.

My darlings!!  I'm so sorry for the last chapter... I accidentally forgot I had already posted the previous chapter. xDD  Luckily I had friends alert me to my dumb-assery, so I was able to delete it fast enough.  I'm also sorry I haven't been around enough lately; I've had a lot going on that I've needed to handle.  The best thing that's happened so far?  I saw B.A.P in NYC! :D  Definitely epic.

More chapters are in the future, and I have BIIIIIG plans.  I hope you're as excited as I am!
