Chapter 14

He tensed up. "D-don't talk like that".

"You know it's going to happen, Joon. I'm going to die soon. For all i know, i only have six months left to live, as long as i don't make a mistake".

Joon looked up at Jiyong, and clenched his fists. Jiyong only smirked at him. Joon turned his head back at me. "I'm gonna miss you. The only one who isn't treating me like some kind of slave or a bother is you, and you're going to leave me, like everyone else. I don't want that".

"I'm sorry, Joon, but i don't have much of a choice here".

He thought for a few seconds, then his face lit up. "Maybe you do!" 

This removed Jiyong's smirk and he was suddenly right next to me. "What the hell are you talking about?"

Joon ignored Jiyong and kept looking at me. "Hana... if i could make sure he doesn't kill you, would you stay my friend? Forever?"

Jiyong laughed. "What the hell is this? Are you on crack, dude? Even if you could do that, she isn't interested in you. You think she likes you? No, she's just being nice and polite, that's how she is. She doesn't really care about you. No one does. Not even Sandara".

Joon's face froze and he looked down. I can't be too sure, but i think i saw tears form in his eyes. "Jiyong!" I pushed Jiyong, but he didn't move. I went over to Joon and put both of my hands on his cheeks and bent down to look at his face. "Don't listen to Jiyong. I care about you a lot, Joon. I'm nothing like your parents, Sandara or the other people who've treated you badly. I truly care about you. You believe me, right?"

Joon took a deep breath and nodded. "I... do. But prove it to me".

"Sure. How?"

"Let me turn you".

Jiyong's eyes widened, but i was confused. "Turn me? What do you mean?"

"Let me make you a vampire, Hana. That way Jiyong can't kill you, and you can be with me forever. We can be best friends, you and i. If you really care about me, you'll agree to this".

"I... i'm sorry, Joon. That's something i can't do. I don't want to be a vampire. I would rather die, then be a vampire. But that doesn't mean i don't like you! Please, you gotta believe me!"

"Forget it" Joon stepped backwards. "You lied! You're nothing but a liar! You're exactly like everyone else i know! You just pretend to like me! I hope Jiyong kills you soon, cause i can't stand to see your face anymore, you stupid liar!" He disappeared before i could stop him. I sighed and sat down on the ground.

"Why did you do that?"

Jiyong sat down next to me. "I don't like the kid, but he doesn't deserve getting false hopes, does he?"

"It wasn't false hope! I really like him. More than i like you anyway".

"Someone might think you like vampires instead of humans. You're around me most of the time, and now you're after Joon".

"I'm not after Joon like that! I only hang around you, because i'm forced to! And Joon has had a bad life, and his vampire life is no better. I want to at least make sure he is happy when i leave! But you obviously can't understand that, since you have no heart at all!" 

"What the hell are you shouting at me for?! For giving the boy the harsh reality of what it really means being a vampire?! He was reckless and stupid, and now he's paying the price for it! He was the one who chose to be changed into a vampire, thinking his life would get better!"

"But i'm not lying to him! I really care about him!"

"What makes you think he's gonna believe that, when no one else has? There's nothing you can do for him, so just give it up".
