“Would you like another?” the waiter held the bottle close to my glass

“No, thank you.” I declined and he left

“Why not? This is one of the finest wines in the world.” Mrs.Wu raises her glass and took a sip

“I can tell but I’m already done with my third.” I chuckled

“Limits?”

“Let’s say your son made it.” I look at Kris you gave a small smile

“Did he? Why is that?” his mom chuckled

“Self-restrains.” I cleared my throat “Got into an accident once because of too much drinks.” I shrugged

“Oh you poor girl; did anything terrible happened?”

“No.” Kris shakes his head

I look at him in disbelief “No? My car crashed and I had to buy a new car; how come it’s a no?” I turn to him

“You survived didn’t you? So nothing bad did happen.” he returns a meaningful look

“Oh…” I slowly nod “Yeah…”

“Well I’m glad nothing happened or we wouldn’t have this conversation right now.” his mom smiled at me

“Ladies and gentleman…” everyone turns to the host “Thank you for being able to make it to our opening ceremony for our first branch in South Korea.” everyone clapped their hands “Instead of a simple dinner like we usually do, we decided to do an auction on the valuables that we have our eyes on. It would be an honourable pleasure if everyone participates.” he smiled

“It’s been a long time since we did an auction.” Mrs.Wu beamed

“Mom…” Kris’ voice warns

“What? It’s my money, I can do what I want with it.” she said back and I chuckled while Kris shakes his head

“Our first item for tonight is an Ancient vase; handmade and carved more than a century ago. The vase had been passed down through the generations of the Chinese empress…”

“I don’t really collect vases.” I mumbled towards Kris

“As if I don’t know that.” he laughs

The auction started off with the vase, later a book, brooch, pen, some box… I didn’t really came here to big though because I’m not much of a money spender when it comes to these kinds of stuff except for fashion of course and that’s when they took out a navy blue box and presented to us the necklace…

“Set in platinum, the Majestic Diamond Necklace is a pear-shaped, solitaire diamond pendant that features a 41.4 carat sparkler that’s sure to get noticed. We will start off the bid for this necklace with $1,000,000.” choke on that alright

I was about to raise my board and immediately stopped when he started the price. I’m rich, yeah, okay but that doesn’t mean I would easily spend a million on a necklace; I’m still a college student, maybe I’ll buy that when I have a job so that my parents won’t be pissed off about it.

Everyone started rising up their boards and started bidding while me and Kris just stood there looking at the host. I’m sorry dear necklace, I might have to pass up the chance with you; maybe we’ll meet again in another lifetime? If I’m rich in that lifetime though.
