Sleep.
Coma. (Threequel to One Shot and Betrayal.)It was past midnight by the time they received the news.
Himchan and Zelo's operation was done. Daehyun and Jongup ran down the corridor to enter the private bay where they were treated.
Jongup did not hesitate to approach both of them into a painful embrace.
"How is everyone?" Himchan asked, sitting up.
Daehyun only sat down in the chair next to him. His voice was dry. "Yongguk hyung and Youngjae... They're not waking up." Every time he had to tell someone this, his heart sunk in a little deeper.
Himchan lowered his head, as tears welled up in his eyes.
Jongup only looked at Zelo, who could not keep his head up. It was clear that Zelo had experienced the worse. He had to experience the worst when he was young. To remember those memories again made his head really hurt. "Zelo?" the younger boy looked up, eyes blurred with tears. Zelo wrapped his arms around Jongup's waist, feeling the older guy soothing his back and telling him that it was okay, that they were still alive, despite being tormented through it all.
"There's no news of them, so I guess we gotta wait." Himchan told them. He shut his eyes briefly from the pain he felt when trying to move positions on his bed. His stomach was still in pain. ". They hurt us real bad."
No one disagreed.
"For now let's get some rest. We've all been through a lot. The least we could do is get some sleep before hearing the news of Yongguk and Youngjae's conditions." Himchan told them, not knowing what else to say. " Zelo?" he had noticed the younger man not even uttering a word since he woke up.
No reply.
Zelo stared into nothing, losing focus from blurry tears.
"Hello?"
"Hana, is that you?"
"Youngjun?"
"Yeah it's me. I hope you don't mind - I asked the girls for your number."
"Of course not." She was resting at home. "Did you want something?"
"Just a little favour. Ace is probably still at the animal hospital. Could you check up on him for me?"
"Sure. Do you have the address he's been sent to?"
"Yep. I'll text it to you now." the man was about to hang up when he heard her speak.
"Youngjun?"
"Yeah?"
"How's your shoulder?"
"It's healing well, thank you for asking."
"Hyosung told me that if you hadn't moved her out of the way, the bullet would have shot her instead. You were really brave."
He chuckled softly. "Thank you. I'm just glad that we got everyone out of there. If it meant getting a bullet to the shoulder, then it's worth it."
Youngjun was so generous it couldn't help but make Hana smile. He deserved so much more gratitude than he was being given, for taking part in such a dangerous mission that he shouldn't have even been involved in.
"I'll make sure to check in later." she told him.
"Thanks. See you later!"
She had almost forgotten about Ace, whilst in the middle of all this chaos. She was too distracted on Youngjae's condition. Her job. Herself.
Where was her life heading now? She needed to focus on getting better, but she wasn't doing anything to feel better. Of course she was eating and sleeping now that she didn't have to work. But she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable and most of all, scared.
Daewoon was still out there alive.
That frightened her the most. But after he got Youngjae, would he want to bother anyone else?
No one had any idea what that man was capable of.
She briefly arrived at a small animal hospital later on in the day. "I'm looking for a puppy who was sent in last night at around 10pm? He had an injured leg."
"Ah I know which one you are asking for. He's been a delightful little puppy! Please follow me, I will show you to him." a friendly woman working there had led her into the back where there were many pets in cages and dens.
They eventually arrived at the adorable little puppy who barked enthusiastically as soon as he saw Hana.
"Ace..." she smiled, taking the puppy into her arms and hugging him.
"He's a 1 year old Welsh Corgi. Whoever his owners were, has abandoned him for quite a while. He's been feeding on anything he could find for over a month now - meaning that his nutrition is fairly off scale. But once we feed the pup with good food and let him recover from his leg injury, he'll be at good health. As for his leg..." she caressed him softly before carrying on. "We suspect that someone trampled on his leg or he trapped it hard into something like a door. From the x-ray scan, we've see that his leg was bent sideways. He was in pain for around 24 hours before you found him."
"Thank goodness we found him when we did."
Ace nuzzled his head into Hana's chest affectionately.
"So how long should I wait until I can take him?"
"Well since we're giving him the full emergency treatment, you can take him near around a week from now on. Would you like to do that?"
"Yes please. I'm adopting him under a friend's name. He was the one who found Ace."

Daehyun had been dozing off next to Youngjae on his bed. He couldn't help but rest his head on the soft sheets, when he suddenly heard and woke to up to the sound of beeping coming from the machine.
Youngjae's heart was beating normally. His expression brightened immediately. He was conscious!
"Y-Youngjae?"
There was no reply, but the sound of his heart beating was enough for him.
His face fell immediately however, when he saw that the machine started beating even more rapidly. What did this mean? He had absolutely no idea. He knew one thing for sure; it was not good.
He immediately ran out of the room; "Somebody help me here!" those familiar words shot out again, as a group of doctors and nurses immediately came to his assistance and checked up on Youngjae.
"He's conscious but he's not going to last long." one of the doctors said in a low tone.
Daehyun's eyes widened. "No..." he shook his head, not wanting to believe what the doctor said. "Please, do everything you can to save him!" what he heard had made him panic so badly.
"Sir, you need to step out of the room." one of the nurses insisted.
But Daehyun was too indulged in his warm tears and shaking heart to listen. He did not move.
The heart machine was going crazy, the rapid and consistent sounds only made him more anxious.
"Sir?" the nurse repeated, and that's when the line went flat - the deadly flat sound had rung into Daehyun's ears. His eyes widened.
"Please no..."
Was he really gone?
Daehyun jolted up from the moment, and realised that he had still been briefly sleeping.
It was all a dream.
He looked at Youngjae who was still hooked to the machine, unconscious. Youngjae didn't make a sound. Daehyun couldn't hear a single breath or heartbeat coming from the younger man. He looked down at his hand and saw that it was wrapped into Youngjae's. He couldn't take it anymore, and broke down into tears.
He thought he had lost Youngjae. The very thought of losing Youngjae scared Daehyun so much. He loved the man too much that he was not ready to know what was going to happen. He wailed and sobbed, just wanting Youngjae to wake up, nothing else.
It angered him that he couldn't do anything to help, and it angered him that Youngjae went through so much to get them back. It made him so angry he swore to revenge.
He swore that he would take down the leader of the Black Tigers; his own blood brother.
